Absolutely awful company

Absolutely awful company. I've actually been driven to the brink of ending it all because they will not leave me alone. I can afford a small amount, which I'm paying due to being a carer and not working. It's constant, letters, calls, emails. I reply to emails saying the same thing time and time, which they ignore. Then I will get another letter threatening me with a bailiff. On advice of a friend I'm looking at getting a solicitor involved. It's harassment, pure and simple.
I've been told to contact Financial Conduct and they are now looking into this company. I've had early morning phone calls and persistent letters, all while I have a plan in place! Absolutely shameful.

I contacted Mortimer Clarke today…

I contacted Mortimer Clarke today regarding a debt letter I received from the Tribunals Service. I explained the reason behind the debt, specifically that the original company stopped taking payments via direct debit. I also informed them that I could not afford £50 a month, as I only work one shift a week when my disabilities allow. Additionally, I receive Personal Independence Payment and have been deemed to have limited capability for work under the Universal Credit system. I have four children, three of whom receive Disability Living Allowance due to their disabilities.

The man I spoke to made me feel very uncomfortable and insisted that all disability-related payments should be considered as household income. I explained multiple times that this money is specifically for care and support, not general expenses. Despite reviewing my income, he stated they still required £50 per month based on their calculation of surplus funds. I tried to clarify that my surplus income varies each month due to unexpected expenses, but he was abrupt and came across as though he was trying to pressure me.

I informed him that I had recorded the call and intended to raise the issue with my MP, at which point his tone noticeably changed. He frequently spoke over me and claimed that, since the case had gone to the Tribunals Court (which I was unaware of), he was unable to alter the payment amount. However, after the call, I contacted the Tribunals Service, who confirmed that Mortimer Clarke Solicitors do have the authority to amend the payment amount. This means I was misled, and I will be bringing this to my MP’s attention as well.

Dumb idiots keep asking for more money…

Dumb idiots keep asking for more money when I’m on a payment plan, if they keep carrying on with this I will sue you for harassment and by law you can’t harass anyone on a payment plan.

Company keeps pestering me on debt

Company keeps pestering me on debt, I am paying monthly standing order and I’m still getting threatening letters and emails, but quick enough to ring multiple numbers but can not answer emails? I have proof and this company is just shocking. Luckily I will be paying it all off Jan and I will not hear from these again!

Avoid like the plague

Avoid like the plague, agents will swear at you and even when formally complaining they will still gaslight you in to saying it didn't happen.

Record all calls and inform them of such before speaking with these mis informants.

Edit: Have reached out to them regarding their trust pilot response and still unresolved.

5 stars from me.

Contacted them after receiving a CCJ that shouldn’t have been issued due to me complying with them but due to administrative error it went unread. After an investigation and review, they have offered me compensation for my troubles and applying to the courts for the CCJ to be set aside. Wasn’t expecting any of that after reading all these reviews but they get a 5 star from me! Thank you.

Stay away from them They are not…

Stay away from them They are not professional firm acting like scammers will be reporting to SRA already reported by lots of people. After 6 years of my default account they are still threatening me for ccj which is obviously they can’t force you by law after 6 years and I was victim of fraud it’s really disgusting shame on this firm

Received a letter

Received a letter, saying my debt was sold to mortimer clarke. No clue why people say they're rude, etc on the phone?

Spoke to a nice lady called Genia i think was her name.

Spoke to me w/ respect, etc. Explained it all.

Edit; had to cancel my direct debit, spoke to josh and sorted. kind and polite as well.

I honestly don't know how their staff…

I honestly don't know how their staff manage to sleep at night. I dealt with Mortimer and Clarke solicitors about a year ago. Was spoken to like absolute trash, and told nothing but lies. For example, they said they had a Ccj granted against me. I believed them. They said I hadn't made a defence against the CCJ and that my defence wouldn't stand up anyway. Then they changed tacked and tried to make a payment plan. Advised me not to take out more debt to pay their debt. How considerate of them. So they treat me like trash for not being able to pay, intimidate me to pay so I get more debt. Then basically call me a fool for taking out more debt to pay theirs. Even though they claimed to have a CCJ against me. On top of that they claim to update my credit file as paid, but didn't.

Don't give them your card details

First line of defence always sound helpful but do absolutely nothing to resolve a situation. Had a payment plan in place, token payment due to bad situation then stole hundreds of pounds out of my bank account, unauthorised and won't give it me back leaving me with 12.00 in my bank, been authorised to refund they say, but still not given it me back. Fobbed off by 3 call handlers. This is going to the ombudsman as I had to cancel all my DDs, had charges for unpaid DDs and had to borrow money for food. Don't even know how this can be legal??!!

No replies - useless

Send threatening letters with no info on them and emails with attached docs that you need to log in to see. I cannot log in as the required info is vague and confusing. I also cannot log into the website, and no one replies to my emails. What am I supposed to do? I think a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman is next, as such behaviour towards 'customers' is amateur, lax and not acceptable for an organisation supposedly controlled by the Financial Conduct Authority and Solicitors Regulation Authority.

These people are looking after a debt…

These people are looking after a debt of my partners which his wife unfortunately caused when they were together, I must say, although it is something beyond our control as it is a marital thing Mortimer Clark are being really fair with us.

Scum

Just like Cabot they are the scum of the earth !!!
Following my wife’s very sudden death I experienced severe mental health problems and could not deal with life at all.
I lost my business and struggled financially.
Cabot started to harass me with phone calls and emails for debts they had allegedly purchased !!!!
13 years later they are still harassing me and so are their solicitors.
Luckily a good friend has recently agreed to fund a legal battle against both pond life companies.
I can’t wait to get justice against both companies and their revolting staff !!

Useless

After a year of trying to set-up a payment plan with them they still refuse to do so. They keep threatening to issue a CCJ, make me unemployed, and harass via email and postal mail.

I have asked repeatedly to speak to someone that is legally trained at the company, they are not customer facing apparently.

They claim be to be solicitors, but cannot provide any evidence of this. The only solicitor registered is 'Sandra Isabel BAYNE' who has a habit of reading my e-mails but never replies.

As all the reviews below say, they are about as useless as a England football manager.

They are awful and extremely unkind.

They are awful. They repeatedly hounded me when I had just left hospital, giving me a complete nervous breakdown. Said they had been round to my address with paperwork for me to sign. I explained that I received no paperwork (as I was in hospital). They lady on the phone would not explain what's in the paperwork and claimed it was sensitive. The mistake she made was to ask me for my details- to which I responded; "I thought you had them, which is why you are constantly contacting me" I hung up and blocked the number but unfortunately it's now becoming boarderline harassment as the keep ringing on different numbers. They took out 3 separate payments which my bank stopped fortunately. Are these people regulated? The methods they use are hostile and unacceptable.

They are thieves pretending to be solicitors.
Do not answer there calls and definitely don’t give them any money.
They need closing down asap.

Absolute shockers to deal with

Absolute shockers to deal with . Every letter is a CCJ threat . No empathy whatsoever . Threat after threat . Avoid Cabot and them at all costs. I’ve sent my report and all their correspondence to the FCA and Financial ombudsman to deal with it .
