Liverpool Airport Parking - Locked Terminal Door
Liverpool Airport advertise Fast Track Parking as "ultra-convenience and exclusivity! A guaranteed space and a covered walkway that leads you to your own Terminal Entrance" but what they don’t tell you is that the “special terminal entrance” is locked each evening at a time when inbound aircraft are still arriving with passengers who expect it to still be open.
The problem I’m told is that security are instructed to lock the door when the last departing flight check in has closed. I’ve looked at two days inbound and outbound flight schedules (today and yesterday) and according to my calculations there are 21 flights (circa 3000 people) that are likely to arrive on flights that are too late to use the “special terminal entrance” during that 2 day period.
I recognize that not everyone will have paid for Fast Track Parking but I’m quite sure that those who have will not have been notified of any time restrictions for using the “special entrance”.
I felt particularly annoyed for a wheelchair user who was looking after the luggage while his wife went looking for a member of staff to open the door. I’m a pensioner with limitations but at least I can still walk back and go round the outside of the terminal building however I wouldn’t need to if the Airport had been clear about its restrictive policy when I was making the booking.
I wrote to Liverpool Airport more than a week ago asking for a full refund of my parking fees but received a negative response together with an explanation that the door was locked at a time dictated by security policy which is not shared with customers at the time of booking.
I have asked for my concerns to be escalated to Liverpool Airport CEO and would ask others to support my efforts to encourage Liverpool Airport to keep the access doors open until “close of business” or provide full refunds to all customers who are impacted by this poorly thought through security solution.
It's wrong to advertise access via a "special entrance" if that entrance is going to be locked during normal hours of airport operation.
I wonder what the real John Lennon…
I wonder what the real John Lennon would make of your scummy scam.
4am in the morning, dark, rainy, lost.I stop for 15 seconds and get scammed for £60 by your parking cameras in a turnoff with no one around, in a remote part of your complex.
You will never see me using any of your amenities or partners associated with you ever again….
Security issue with laptop
Security issue; my laptop disappeared and came back scratched. I didn't think it was my laptop as looked so bad. The process for a complaint was unacceptable and unsympathetic. The security was not that busy, so I have no idea where and what happened to my laptop as it disappeared from view a few times. Personally, it was very stressful as that laptop contains all my work, not to mention a replacement laptop costs £1,500. Not acceptable behaviour.
A breeze of an airport to travel…
A breeze of an airport to travel through. Travelled to Netherlands 2 December 2023, security wait was 5 minutes if that. Had time for a nice Starbucks before heading gate. All on time. The airport was getting some refurbishment of catering and shops whilst we were there. Toilets could have been cleaner. Overall though it’s stress free, particularly when compared to T1 at Manchester. Would always choose to fly Liverpool as beats its neighbour on every count.
A DISGUSTING ARRIVAL COLLECTION POLICY
AVOID USING THIS AIRPORT IF YOU CAN
TOTALLY, TOTALLY disgusting parking policy.
This airport very much needs to stop whoever is so blatantly ripping of members of the public who are picking up passengers. There is no way that one can rely on a passenger arriving on time, a 5 minute window is TOTALLY ridiculous and demonstrated that whoever is managing this airport has no clue and should not be in office.
I was recently collected by my sister from a medical trip from Lithuania, she had to wait a few more than the prescribed 5 minutes and was forced to pay £25 in total for less than 10 minutes parking.
RIP OFF UK IN VERY PLAIN SITE. ADDS TO LIVERPOOL'S DODGY REPUTATION.
My car was stolen 1 day I booked my…
My car was stolen 1 day I booked my parking at Liverpool airports long stay, on my return the car was gone…
Think twice on this automatic vehicle number plate recognition as it’s flawed and allows thieves to simply drive your car out of the car park…
No systems in place or question why you have booked for 5 days and your cars driving out after only 1 day??
You don’t expect to have your car nicked outside a secure airport with lots of police presence - stolen 23/11/23
AVOID its run by a corrupt Cowboy parking firm
Tried to go to the on-site hertz rental to collect a car with my colleague.
Barrier failed to open, so I reversed out and drove off.
£60 ticket came through the post for stopping, I appealed it.They rejected my plea, saying there are 70 signs to show I should not have stopped.
Absolute madness that this corrupt company are allowed to manage an airport.
We as a business use airports all over the UK and we certainly won't be using this dump again.
Only thing wrong with Liverpool airport…
Only thing wrong with Liverpool airport is the amount of time waiting for bags if using easy jet last 3 times waited over 1hr this is due to unloaded bags left to one side while aircraft loaded for next flight, why 1 or 2 people can’t take of loaded baggage to the terminal is beyond me, and when you ask at desk while waiting all you get is oh we are short of people today and then when a few customers go up asking about luggage they just walk of.
You state in the remarks column how can…
You state in the remarks column how can we ( John Lennon Airport improve) ... well maybe you can listen to what people when giving negative comments and act on them..but of course this is just another Con on their behalf..
I phoned up the airport parking mid-week (god knows how I got through) to establish if it was ok for me to park in the express parking area with my blue badge.. I was informed it was no problem and I could reclaim a percentage of the cost by confirming my blue badge details... I picked up my wife at 02.00 hrs this morning after waiting approx 30 minutes, paid by card and saw the extortionate fee 0f £25 pounds. i have been onto the web site but notice that you can only claim if the person travelling has the blue badge in their name... I hadnt been informed of this,, how stupid of me, because after living in liverpool for nearly 80 years I still have not learned about our rip off society, stupid me.....
God help every one when Jet 2 arrive next year.. someone said John Lennonwould be really upset if he knew what was going on ....John Lennon escaped from Liverpool, he knew the score ..
Shame on the lot of you, I will try to throw away my crutches in future.,
Good points first….
Good points first….. car parking was first class ……… only 2 members of check in staff to start with but improved when 2 more members arrived which helped enormously to speed up the queue…….
Then all went down hill…. security was chaotic they need a person to direct people to the different lanes…… then on arrival back at Liverpool we waited 1hour 10 mins for our cases which was over twice the flight time from the Isle of Man , air site handlers need to get their act together as flights arriving after ours were getting their luggage before us. We changed from Manchester to Liverpool due to all the chaos there as Liverpool was always so straight forward don’t know why this had changed….. vast improvements will be need with taking on a volume holiday company Jet 2.
I'm totally fuming..
I'm totally fuming... its not that I'm moaning about the price of drop off and collecting people. It's the way you charge £25 for a 20 minute collection. What do you expect a disabled passenger to do after a 4 hour flight??? They need to visit the toilet after they pass customs. They aren't given that option from getting of the plane by the assistants that bring them to the carousel and through immigration. Why is there no normal phone number to discuss these situations??
I'd give you zero stars for your thoughts on disabled people and there situations.
Rubbish airport they rubber me £100…
Rubbish airport they rubber me £100 fine absolutely rubbish 👎👎👎👎
Quick and clean
Not sure why this airport has such a low rating. Flew from Alicante into Liverpool on 1st October. The transfer buses were waiting on the tarmac, passport control was so quick and our bags were coming off the conveyer belt as we got to it. 15 min within landing we were in the car on our way home. Well done Liverpool. 👏
Picking up wife from airport she was…
Picking up wife from airport she was slightly delayed on check out my cost for parking just over 35 minutes was £25.00 an absolute total rip off on top of profit made from flyers coffees breakfast drinks .
Scruffy airport direction signs for pick ups absolutely ridiculous?
May I never have to use this airport again as long as I live.
My favourite airport ,unfortunately
My favourite airport ,
But needs to sort the baggage out , we waited over an hour to see are luggage from alicante only three planes in.
People were going mad , taxi waiting, people getting picked up, clocking up fees in the car park ect
No information till an announcement saying easyjet were sorry for the wait as it was due to operational issues , swissport baggage staff , just saying we don't know what's going on when asked by passengers for explanation.
Shoddy end to the flight .
Happened in on a previous trip last year as well.
Swissport are letting the airport down badly.
As they are getting jet 2 next year they will have to up there game or it will go the same way as Manchester.
I have a couple of flight booked to go from Liverpool coming up, if its the same will be looking elsewhere
Bar prices
My complaint is not the airport, it’s the bar prices, and in question the Kissing Gate pub, £6.99 for a pint, but £10.89 for a glass of wine OMG, I’m still in shock two days later, that’s daylight robbery, how do they get away with it??
You’ve got to speed it up
I understand air traffic control but we have just arrived at John Lennon airport and another 4 planes landed at the same time; something that a tiny airport like this can definitely not handle, from disembarking off the plane to receiving luggage took just over 90 minutes. There was us believing we’d hit the jackpot being able to fly into our home city; in actuality it would have been quicker to fly to Manchester and take a 45 minute cab ride. I am grateful for having an airport practically on my doorstep but the inefficiencies are blatantly obvious. Additionally, because 4 planes landed altogether, this meant a huge backlog of people waiting for taxis, it was mayhem; people getting stuck next to huge suitcases as the queue line capacity could not handle this many people. This also I may add, was at 2am in the morning.
So very disappointed and don’t think I or my well travelled friends will be choosing this airport for a good while.
This place is a filthy cess pit
This place is a filthy cess pit! It literally looks like it hasn't been cleaned for years and there are only four sit down cubicles in the gents to accommodate a plane full of people arriving back. God only knows how it must be when more than one plane lands back at the same time. The staff are friendly, but the place is disgusting. Also, the escalators don't work.
I’d love to give a minus mark here
I’d love to give a minus mark here. I feel sick that my 84 year old father in law didn’t realise that a delay in the baggage being released would cost £50 for waiting an hour. £50! An absolute disgrace. Depressing from the landing onwards. No reason for the delay, no apology and no way to discuss with anyone. Why do we put up with this rip off thievery?
Rip off Airport - and how to save on drop-off charges
Rip off Airport. Charges constantly getting increased. £5 for drop off parking. Double red lines on approach road - £100 charge if you stop, with a white van parked on pavement taking photos of offenders. Free drop off is over quarter of a Mile away- preying on the elderly & people with poor mobility. And £1 for a small clear plastic bag that must 'conform' to the size security stipulates! Extortionate prices for food and drinks at any eatery.
Disgusting Rip off overall, and I'm sure John Lennon would really not want his name associated with the airport if he could voice his own oppinion.
Beware road bridge charges if travelling south by car. They have to be paid on-line within 24hrs or face a hefty fine.
For anyone wishing to avoid the airport drop-off parking charge, then stop on the public main road at bottom of Western avenue in Speke, near airport bus entrance. This is the shortest walk down bus road to main terminal and it's free.
