The Delay Isn’t the Problem — The Lack of Communication Is”
I placed an order with Premier Portable Sheds on July 31st. During the initial purchase, the sales rep was extremely friendly and helpful. I was told my shed should arrive within 4–6 weeks and that it would probably be sooner.
At around the five-week mark, I reached out simply hoping to get an update on where things stood. I wasn't upset and wasn't asking them to rush anything. Now it has been 9 weeks since I placed my order, which is three weeks beyond the 4–6 week timeframe I was originally given, and the biggest issue throughout this entire experience has been the lack of communication.
I want to be very clear because I've told them this multiple times: I am not asking them to speed up my shed. I have never asked for special treatment, a favor, or for my order to be moved ahead of anyone else's. I completely understand that delays happen. All I have asked for is communication and a realistic idea of where my shed is in the process and approximately when I can expect it.
I've been extremely patient, often waiting a full week between calls or messages before reaching out again. Unfortunately, getting even basic information has been incredibly difficult.
Eventually, someone texted me saying my shed was "in the paint area," but didn't explain what that meant or whether delivery was days, weeks, or another month away. I contacted another representative who said she would look into it and call me back. She never did. I then contacted the corporate office and explained everything, including why having some kind of timeframe is so important.
We recently had a flood underneath our home and are in the middle of construction. We need the shed so we can move belongings out of the house and allow our contractors to continue working. Without it, construction is being held up.
If my shed is still weeks away, that's okay — just tell me. I can rent a temporary portable building in the meantime, even though that's probably going to cost me another $1,500–$2,000. What I don't want to do is spend that money and then get a call the next day saying my shed can be delivered next week.
That's why the lack of communication is so frustrating. I'm not asking anyone to make my shed faster. I'm literally just asking someone to return a phone call and give me whatever information they have so I can make plans on my end.
I understand production delays. What I don't understand is why it's so difficult to get a phone call or a straightforward update after making a significant purchase.
In fact, my initial experience with the company was positive enough that I did refer a good friend to Premier Portable Sheds when she was looking to purchase a shed. They didn't have anything in stock that worked for her and she couldn't wait for one to be built, so she ended up going elsewhere. Knowing what I know now about the communication after the sale, I'm honestly glad she didn't place an order.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Premier Portable Sheds again, and I would not purchase from them again. It's unfortunate because the experience started out so positively. The delay isn't what changed my opinion of this company — the lack of communication after the sale is.
I'd also like to mention to get a hold of actual person at the corporate level is basically impossible.
