Shoddy verification processes and poor customer service
I have lost confidence in Private Doc because of the way its verification process and customer communication have been handled.
I submitted photographs in July, which were accepted by the clinician, and my medication was supplied. I was later told that those same images had been flagged during a retrospective audit as potentially altered, AI-generated or unsuitable for verification. Private Doc admitted that the images were apparently not flagged to the clinician at the time.
For my next order, I was initially told that I needed to submit a video to verify my weight. The requirements then escalated into a continuous full-body video in fitted clothing, showing my midriff, legs, gluteal area, neck and upper arms from different angles, before filming myself stepping onto the scales.
My original concern was privacy. It has now become a broader concern about trust, governance and the reliability of Private Doc’s internal processes.
Their systems failed to identify the alleged issue at the point of prescribing, the requirements changed during the correspondence, payment was taken before the matter was resolved, and I had to repeatedly challenge them before receiving a proper explanation.
I appreciate that online prescribing requires appropriate safeguards. However, those safeguards should be clear, consistent and communicated before payment is taken—not applied retrospectively with increasingly intrusive requirements after the provider’s own systems have failed.
I declined to provide the video and was told the order would be cancelled and fully refunded. Even so, the experience has left me with very little confidence in the organisation.
