Apex charger doesn’t work with smart tariffs which integrate with my VW ID.3
I have attempted to integrate my VW ID.3 with EDF’s Smart Charge bolt-on, which works in a similar way to Octopus’ and E.On’s equivalent offerings. Unfortunately, my Project EV Apex charger will enter a “stop” state after 30 minutes when it is being used with my EDF Smart Charge Bolt-On even in “plug and play mode”. This means that my Project EV Apex charger does not work with smart tariffs due to this software design issue.
Project EV communicated to me that they do not recommend that the Apex charger is used with smart tariffs such as Intelligent Octopus Go, E.On Smart Drive or EDF Smart Charge bolt-on. This is despite the car controlling when it should be charging and the Project EV Charger being in “plug and play mode”.
I have used electric vehicle chargers from Pod Point, Ohme and EO Charging and none of these chargers enter a “stop” state after 30 minutes in “plug and play mode”.
I have reached out to Project EV on multiple occasions and I have escalated my issue. There has been no urgency to resolve this issue despite it being reported by multiple people.
Unfortunately given this flawed software design, and the lack of urgency to resolve this issue; I am unable to recommend a Project EV Apex charger.

I recently joined Android family from Apple ecosystem. I have a Project EV charger and was using Project EV app in iOS which is working fine. However, when I tried to setup Project EV+ in my Android phone, I could only see "Offline" for my charger. I left a ticket in Project EV's support page and they replied and sorted me out within minutes, after several conversations, it clearly stated the procedures on managing the settings and finally I can only access my charger on both systems. Really appreciate Lewis Woollett and Afsar quick and professional help

3 year old EV charger has had issues - Project EV have responded well.
Getting the app = ridiculous time messing around. Getting the app to work = ridiculous time messing around. App is as clear as mud. A lot of the time noting appears to be happening but it doesn't tell you anything. Everything takes hours. Total rubbish. I final got my car to charge as selected Eco+ mode. I note my solar generation and meter import and export reading over a couple of hours along with my car charge level. It was more than clear that the charger was drawing form the mains and not the pv. I call Project EV tech support. Initial they said my app was showing Eco+ but the charger was actually on Eco. They said try again. I monitored charging again and nothing changed ie still drawing from mains. I rang again and all they did was blame the installer and say it was up to me to take this up with the installer. The most rubbish piece of kit ever with the most rubbish tech support ever.
UPDATE: following my review I was contacted by a manager Phil Duffy who was very refreshingly honest and sincerely wanted to resolve the issue.
I must point out that my charger is 3 years old as it was included with my house which was a new build. Phil acknowledge that there where issues and they have worked to re-design to overcome these. I cannot speak for that as I only have my 3 year old EV charger. Phil had an engineer visit me and it turns out the the original installation did indeed omit the CT clamp. I was however able to Google and work around this by using the lowest draw setting on my mini, switching the EV charger main fuse limit to 13kw so that it draws approx 1.3 kw which is less than my PV output on a sunny day of 1.6kw ie I achieve charging 100% on sunshine on the ECO setting. Note that the tech support offered NO ADVISE to achieve this! Due to the lack of CT clamp my charge is effectively 'dumb' and my house just see the charger just like another appliance like a washing machine. I understand all that but the support staff you can call were not up to speed and Phil did again honestly acknowledge that.
The engineer who called out was excellent and very knowledgeable. They have sent me a report so that I can take the issue up with the developer. I have emailed this to the developer and they are not replying so I am totally left in the lurch. I have called Project EV tech support again and they just wont answer anything sighting the lack of CT clamp. I think the tech support team are useless but Phill Duffy knows his stuff and so does their Engineer. But all that is useless to you if they do not have control over installation via an approved installer scheme. So if your issue is installation the above is as much as they will do which gets you no further along. So, I stick to my 1 star review.

Had an issue with pairing my EV charger…
Had an issue with pairing my EV charger with my phone. Uways was extremely helpful, not only was he patient in taking me through the steps but also kept me posted all the way through. I called just about at closing time and not once he tried to rush the call, great service and I managed to charge my car with ease.
“Charger Not Ready” on an EVA charger sorted!
Raised a service ticket on Sunday and I must say AI assistant was good at getting the information about my charging problem ready for a technician to take a look on Monday morning. Excellent email communication throughout. The technician (John Bone) quickly responded and sorted the problem over the airwaves by updating the firmware and changing some settings. Very impressed!
Not charging over night.
Few alterations to the settings and we are back up and running, Thank you Lewis.
