I’ve been drinking coffee for over 20 years and regularly buy Swiss Water decaf, so I know what this type of coffee should taste like.

I tried RAVE for the first time based on their marketing and flavour description, but the coffee I received is nothing like what’s advertised. After grinding, it’s noticeably very light in colour and there is almost no aroma at all - it smells like stale coffee. The taste is extremely flat, more like tea than coffee, with no body or depth.

For a product that’s described as freshly roasted, this is very hard to believe. It simply doesn’t match the expected profile of Swiss Water decaf or the description on their website.

What also raised concerns for me is that my negative review on their website didn’t appear, and after looking into it I’ve seen other customers reporting similar experiences. That doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Overall, this feels heavily driven by marketing rather than actual quality. Very disappointing - I won’t be buying again.

I don’t normally write reviews unless I’ve had an exceptionally good or bad experience. In this case, it’s very much the former.

Let’s start with the customer service, because honestly, I’m blown away by it.

I ordered 2kg of Rave’s Signature Blend as whole beans. What arrived was 2kg of the Signature Blend ground for espresso. The jury’s still out on whose mistake that was — I’m fairly sure I selected whole beans, but equally it could well have been a complete brain fart on my part.

Either way, I contacted customer service to ask whether I could return it and swap it for whole beans. Rave immediately replied to say it was no problem and that they’d send over the return details. Before I’d even had a chance to blink, another email arrived saying they were already sending a replacement order of whole beans — and that I could keep the ground coffee, with the lovely suggestion that I gift it to someone.

This is exactly the kind of customer care I’m simply not used to these days. Such a genuinely thoughtful gesture, and the sort of thing that creates a customer for life. That’s certainly the case here. The replacement beans arrived the very next morning, which completely knocked my socks off, especially given that 2kg of Signature Blend is far from cheap.

The packaging also deserves a mention. It may seem like a small detail, but the bags have a lovely tactile feel that immediately conveys quality and care. Everything about it feels considered and premium, and it speaks volumes about a company full of talented people who clearly care about what they do.

And finally, the coffee itself.

What can I say? It’s superb. Smooth, with a delicious light crema, low bitterness, slightly nutty, with lovely chocolate notes running through it. It’s genuinely excellent coffee, and it’s already made me want to try more of Rave’s blends.

I was recently made redundant from a senior/head-level marketing, communications and content role, and I have to confess I even found myself looking to see whether Rave might be hiring someone like me — because this feels like exactly the sort of company I’d love to work for. The level of competence and care on show from this one experience has been genuinely jaw-dropping.

Customer service is awful, won’t let me return a product i purchased today because i used it once and it didn’t work how i expected.

Ordered for the first time and very happy. The coffee is excellent, and delivery was free next-day delivery via Royal Mail, which in my area is the most reliable option.
What also stands out about Rave is their decaf range. Unlike most roasters who offer a single decaf option almost as an afterthought, Rave has several to choose from. That is rare and genuinely appreciated.
Will definitely be ordering again.

I have ordered loads from these guys. The coffee always comes quickly and tastes great! I’ve also bought a moka pot and that came through with no problems.

I got my order on time. Went for the most popular batch. I usually love medium roast colombian coffee, its aroma and acidity, and had really high expectations. Unfortunately, it was missing the aroma and was a bit too roasted -this is of course a matter of preference. I switched to another brand and that's closer to my taste.

I have had a wonderful experience with Raf at Rave coffee today, after seekinghelp aboutmy sage coffee machine. He directed me where to go to service my machine on top of superb coffee and service. 5 stars....thank you

The team at Rave are truly wonderful. Every month I order a 1kg bag of coffee beans and it always arrives within 48hrs. The coffee they source from around the world is excellent and I highly recommend that anyone gives them a go. I've not had a single bad experience with them.

I can't fault them the coffee beans are spot on never had an issue with them i tried many single origin or blend and its realy good quality.
I still cant find a realy fruity one yet unless anyone can refer me to one

Ordered an Aeropress Premium from Rave. Ended up with a manufacturing defect and Rave replaced it right away. Customer service was prompt and friendly. Really excellent experience and would highly recommend Rave to anyone.

I gifted several packets to my husband for Christmas. He was thrilled, the coffee was delicious and he was also really impressed with the packaging and welcome booklet. I’ve just placed another order for him and we will be ordering as gifts for other coffee lovers in our family.

Fantastic coffee, always has a great choice of beans, blends and strengths. Fast delivery and a great rewards system as well.

I've had a coffee subscription for a couple of years now and I find it super flexible and easy to use - there's a pause/delay/send now function. I have also been very happy with the various equipment and accessories I have bought in that time. Oh, and the coffee is great too, of course!!

I don't usually leave reviews but I just had to on this occasion. Ordered yesterday (22nd Jan) and my order was delivered today. Super fast dispatch etc, definitely didn't expect the order to come so fast when it was free delivery. Ordered the fudge blend after trying a bag from amazon and loving it, and the Guatemala Sugarcane Decaf to try on the evenings that I fancy a coffee. The fudge blend is by far the best coffee I've ever tasted. It goes through my ninja luxe like a dream and makes the most beautiful latte. The smell through the bag is unreal, I could literally just sit and smell the bag for hours 😍 haven't yet tried the decaf but have got high hopes! Will definitely be back when I'm running low!

I’ve only ever been gifted Rave coffee from family who live nearby the roasting facility - but every time, it’s been incredible.

High quality beans, incredibly good flavour and really nice variety. The Italian blend is delicious and of all the beans I've used in the 2 years of owning my Bambino Plus and Fellow Opus (and AeroPress), the Italian blend has had the best extraction, crema and flavour I’ve experienced.

I’ll definitely be ordering more once I use up my current supply!

This sounds like an exaggeration but this coffee is possibly one of the best coffees I have ever had. I got the aeropress gift set as been wanting one for a while. The bag smells delicious and makes an amazing coffee. It arrived quickly and came with a good quality guide to make it. Think I wil be going for the subscription next.
