The Impossible Task: Outstanding Service from Wex Repair Centre / Fixation
My AF-S 300mm f/2.8 lens was a total disaster zone. I purchased it second-hand from MPB and only managed to use it a couple of times before it completely stopped working.
I initially contacted Nikon, but they told me the lens was archived and parts were no longer available. Thinking it was a total write-off, I searched for specialist repair centres and Wex stood out—especially having bought gear from them before.
Sending the heavy lens over was quick, affordable, and straightforward. By the next day, they emailed to confirm it could be fixed. The quote was surprisingly reasonable, and I received regular updates throughout the entire process.
Instead of waiting for delivery, I collected it in person. The team didn't just repair the lens—they completely rebuilt it so it feels brand new. Incredible service for a 22-year-old lens!

Quick to confirm the quote cost and delivered it back as promised and it works perfectly after giving me hassle for a few months.

Only problem I had was having completed on line repair request form I had difficulty retaining a copy and thus initially keeping track of progress.

Very good, quick and well priced, did a solid job. Only criticism is the chap at the front desk just seems angry. No eye contact, no smile or greeting - it felt like I was an interruption to his day. Everything felt like I was inconveniencing him. A lady came out from the back and was simply lovely - but your receptionist was the angriest, unhappiest man I have ever met.

I didn’t hold out much hope for my lens…
I didn’t hold out much hope for my lens being repairable as it was so old, but Fixation managed to repair it. I bought it second hand, but after this repair it now seems to AF faster than when I got it. Probably no surprise as the whole AF motor was replaced.
