2026 First quarter.
I have been gaming since the 80s and played games like ELITE from the very beginning.
The platform for "Star Citizen" is very poor.
Developers have used bad coding practice causing an incredible amount of bloat at it's core design.
Streaming platforms generally seem to advertise this product as OK or acceptable.
It's still in "Alpha"
I expect Developers will keep receiving funds for a long time, a working platform will probably never be complete.
Consider saving your money and buying a stable product.

Please try Star Citizen before you believe the negative reviews. It's a game that has been in development for years, and it's still actively in developed. The new technologies incorporated into Squadron 42/Star Citizen are what have caused the long development times. The team at CIG is still working daily to create a game that will set a new standard for all game developers. Star Citizen is an experience, not just a game, and you'll understand when you try it. Go try it for free; there are free fly events where CIG/Cloud Imperium Games allows you to play with a free ship.

As for me it's clear roadmap and current tasks make the development really progressive. The game is a pioneer in most of the mechanics and technologies. It's really cool that the whole universe works fine as multiplayer game. And inside it looks awesome! So still waiting, hope it will become the nextgen one!

I've been following this project since 2016.

It's definitely had it's ups and downs. I'm not a fan of some of their marketing tactics, but overall they have continued to release major updates to Star Citizen.

The game today is very different from the game we had even only a few years ago. Some call it a scam, but, in my mind, as long as they continue to update the game and make major improvements, it's money well spent. Even then, you only need to spend $40-50 just to get the game. Just about everything else can be earned in-game.

It's not the kind of game for those who are expecting a fully polished product.

It's definitely a lot more fun with friends.

I have opened a few tickets with their support, and all have been answered promptly.

The game even runs fairly well on Linux and even has some developers that help make sure it's compatible.

They're more open about the development process than any other large game studio I've seen.

It will not release until 2026.

But the one hour game reveal they showed looked amazing.

Game is a Scam, not worth 53 dollars. It has an endless amount off bugs, that will just ruin your experience. Also the community are just redditors that want to ruin your fun.

Complete con artists. Contacted about a refund as they have a 14 or 30-day refund guarantee. I say 14 or 30 as they say both in different places on their site. they have refused to reply at all. I was forced to contact my bank.

Stay away and even if it looks better in the future NEVER TOUCH IT

Like others have said, this is a massive scam.

I get the vision but there is just no way it is still this bad after all these years. It blows my mind.

I've just reinstalled this game after an 8 month break and oh boy it's back in the bin (probably for good this time).

8 months ago it was buggy but you could work around it as annoying as it was.

Thought I'd try it out again since there's been huge updates and I wish I didn't. Installing the game took forever and the whole time I'm hoping and praying I'm not wasting my time, but yea I wasted hours of my time tonight on this trash.

Loading into the verse for the first time took forever, once I did load in I went to the terminal to get my ship, called the elevator and ran inside and fell through the floor into space. Great start and I have to kill myself to respawn.

Load into the medical bed, with a medical gown on, CAN'T get out of the bed and have to back out to the main menu LMAO

Load back into a new server, I'm in my bed in the hab with all the gear that I had on when I died from the elevator, STILL stuck in the bed LMAO

Load in again, get my ship, go to crusader and check what bounties are available, nice, there's a VHRT at Daymar, I accept it and go to navigate there, get to Daymar and guess what, the bounty is invisible, not showing up. Great. Have to abandon it.

Accept another bounty on Yela, get there and it's a laggy mess but manage to kill the bounty.

Get another bounty, navigate to it and every time I shoot at the ship and hit it, the target ship teleport lags thousands of metres away LMAO, it's shields are down but it takes 0 hull damage.

I fly into the ground on purpose and blow my ship up with me in it to end this janky mess.

This is how this game is always and it's unacceptable at this point.

Absolute POS of a game and a massive waste of time, simple tasks like just getting in your ship are a nightmare due to lag and bugs and it's just crazy af tbh especially after all this time they've had.

Unless you have absolutely nothing else to do in life sure, waste your time trying to navigate basic functions in this travesty of a game like drinking water or eating food and good luck.

Otherwise don't bother

contacted them about a bug and they straight away said i have to put it on the issue councel where if no more then ten players up vote my issue they wont do s h i t about it and i have drop a lot of money for them to basiclly say we do give a s h i t about your problems, i would not recommend the game until it is released or if you only buy a start pack. so for now i will walk around with a heart rate of 190 and take forever to get anywhere.

Gave them a list of bugs telling them its not worth 40$. They gave me a refund making me lose that deal of the ship and paint and the game is now 45$. They refuse to help either nor even give me a DISCOUNT! There support wont even wait for you to reply and say done once they reply even though you have to wait a day for it...

I can't imagine why people have given this one star reviews. Or how they can be so confused on why this game has taken so long/so much funding to develop. CIG is developing completely new tech from the ground up in order to give us an unprecedented space exploration simulator. For $45 you can experience the basics of what they want to deliver (it's an alpha it will be buggy, there will be issues) or for $0 you can wait, and see what they come out with! The rest of us will work on mastering the game mechanics and having some of the best and funniest moments a game can bring you. It's worth noting that CIG is inventing a tech that completely prevents server crashes causing loss of progress in a massively multiplayer fps sim. & the same tech will allow you to jump between servers without a loading screen. You load into star citizen once, and you play until you close the game. The only waiting is for elevators, doors to open, and deliveries. If server performance is increased & large bugs resolved this game easily gets 5 stars

Short version, everyone giving low scores don't understand the principle of what Star Citizen is. They add extremely complicated tech they routinely have to create for themselves as it doesn't exist yet.

You play Star Citizen to experience the mechanics and the vision they have for the verse. It's a complicated game with a huge future planned, It's unpolished because they constantly add new ground breaking mechanics, like object persistance.

I personally look forward to the vision they have, and appreciate the effort they put in to make this dream come true.

12+ years and over $600 million dollars raised (with a majority of it spent), yet this first-time game studio have released a total of zero games. More so, PwC in their audit have stated that the company behind Squadron 42 may very well become bankrupt in Q1 2025.

How can a company burn through so much money and time and yet Squadron 42 is nowhere to be seen when it was supposed to be released in 2014, then 2016, then beta 2020 and still no delivery date? Why is the project plagued with delays and issues, and will a game ever be delivered?

I played the game few hours in early alpha in 2014. Since 2017 I am requesting refund and guess what, they still refuse it, even though the product is far from finished, nor anything was not delivered from the promised product.

Protect yourself from unfulfilled promises, since this project is full of them.

I've been a dedicated backer and Concierge member of Star Citizen for some time, and my recent experience with customer support has left me thoroughly disappointed.

As a Concierge member, I was promised "expedited customer service" with an assigned specialist to personally handle my tickets. Unfortunately, it's been over 2 months since I reached out to their customer support team with a pressing concern, and I haven't received a single reply. This lack of response is in stark contrast to the promises made to Concierge-level backers, which are slowly fading away, one by one.

What's even more frustrating is that the Priority access to the Public Test Universe (PTU) was one of the key benefits I was looking forward to as a Concierge member.

To add to the frustration, it appears that I've been effectively ghosted after these perks were taken back. This not only leaves me feeling ignored but also undervalued as a long-time supporter of the game.

I believe that open and transparent communication is essential for any company, especially one that promises "expedited customer service" to its Concierge members. Unfortunately, my recent experience has left me feeling ignored and undervalued, this is the reward for spending an amount of a monthly salary.

It's not unreasonable to expect timely and respectful communication, especially for those who have invested significantly in the project. The lack of response and clarity is a disservice to the loyal community that has supported Star Citizen through thick and thin.

I hope that Cloud Imperium Games will take this feedback seriously and work to improve their customer support and communication with Concierge members, ensuring that the promised "expedited customer service" is a reality, not just words on a page. It's vital to uphold the trust and integrity of the community.

I dont know what these people are going on about, the alpha (not beta because the other work is the single player content Squadron 42 with Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill and X files Gillian Anderson and more in Squadron 42), The Star Citizen multiplayer with different occupations other part of it, is much bigger and random?

Other games take 10 years+ also when not a small 6 hour game, so what are they on about? Are they newbs?
