Chris was the best! He responded so quickly and answered all my questions. He understood how important it was to me to recover my precious data, which was my family photos and home movies. I am so appreciative to Chris for all his help and quick, attentive, and kind service.

I had an external hard drive crash with over 250GB of photos from recent years. There were a few recent photo shoots on their that weren't anywhere else, so obviously I was freaking out. I sent my drive to a local place and they couldn't recover it. Then, I sent it into Gilware and they were confident they would be able to do it, but after 10 days, they could not. I then sent it to Secure Data Recovery.

Chris McMacken was extremely helpful and reassuring. He was professional and empathetic to my situation. My entire drive was eventually recovered after they determined it experienced severe platter damage. It was practically a technological miracle.

Unfortunately, the entire process took 37 days. Obviously this isn't normal for every case, but I felt I should have received more communication during that period. I would only get updates if I called in to ask. I would request a progress update their their portal on their site and even emailed once for an update, but didn't receive any word unless I would call in. It was kind of a bummer since I was so anxious and scared during that time period. However, the times I did have personal communication, it was thorough and professional.

(I also didn't get a choice of the type/size of drive my data would be returned on. You could choose between multiple sizes, but not until AFTER they had already put everything on the most expensive drive to return to you. If you wanted to change drive sizes, it required additional time for them to re-transfer them to the new selected drive. I believe this should be something you choose BEFORE they even do work on your drive.)

This is an extremely expensive service, but obviously worth it if you have important data lost that you desperately need back. If you REALLY want it, I guess you'll pay out to get it. All in all, great work!

It would have taken a lot of time to recover the data that I lost. Secure Data Recovery quickly restored that data and followed through. Chris was great and very helpful.

Purchased an WD External Hard Drive from Costco, to store over 20 years worth of photos and videos of my family as well as some business files.... Some of those were backed up on a cloud base, but the last 2 years have been crazy and therefore I didn't get around to the backups.....While on vacation my hard drive failed....After watching hours of YouTube videos and purchasing items to help restore the drive, I was unsuccessful. Although SDR is expensive, it is just like having a surgery with intricate work being done on my device, I figured it was worth the investment... Thank God I did, as I forgot some of the other items that were on that device. I've been in IT for 20+ years and am often asked to recover people's data. When my own drive died, and I could do nothing about it, I reached out to Secure Data Recovery. We had a corrupted media card while filming an interview. We were able to view the files on the camera but were not able to download on to a computer or drive. Chris from Secure Data Recovery took care of the process of recovering our media footage from beginning to end. He was very helpful and efficient. Not only was our data recovered in good time but he kept me informed of progress through a tense time.

Recently, while working at my computer, my main external hard drive abruptly stopped working. It was only one year old and I had not dropped or damaged the device. My backup external hard drive failed as well, and because my computer's hard drive was not large enough to hold my photos, my external drives were my lifeline. I was in the process of moving my photos into the cloud in the weeks that preceded the loss of my external drives. However, there is only one of me, and the process of uploading over 30,000 photos into the cloud is time-consuming. I had only made a dent.

In a split second, all of my photos were gone. They represented my family's life and showed my improvement to date as I worked toward a future photography business. It was a perfect storm of events and I was devastated.

Managed to crash both of my external backup drives at the same time - both contained the last 10 years photos and videos. Called Secure Data Recovery and got Chris McMacken - who did an excellent job explaining the process, options, and what the potential cost could be. I appreciated the free diagnostic before committing to a larger (and more expensive) service.

After dropping off the hard drives the diagnostics came back in a couple days - the web-based account provided tracking and status information which was a great bonus. Unfortunately the read/write heads had failed and they sent the drives out to their clean room where they identified that one of the drives had a much better chance of full recovery. While not cheap - within about a week they had restored all my files overnighted everything on a new drive.

Bottom line is that while it was expensive, getting everything back was all I wanted and well worth it. Customer support, especially Chris, was great throughout the process and I never felt out of the loop on how it progressing. While I hope to never NEED to use them again, I wouldn't hesitate a moment. Highly recommended.
