I placed an order for a Bilstein 5160…
I placed an order for a Bilstein 5160 lift kit with upgraded springs on March 30th. At the time of purchase, the website stated a lead time of up to 2 weeks.
After waiting over a month, I was only just informed that key rear suspension components are now delayed until the end of May. At no point during checkout or earlier communication was I told these parts were backordered or facing a potentially two-month delay.
I understand supply chain delays happen, but transparency and communication matter, especially when customers are planning vehicle projects around estimated delivery timelines.
Customer service has been polite, when I reach out, but the lack of proactive communication and inaccurate lead time expectations have been frustrating. I’ve also had to follow up 3 separate times to get Information on my order.

Unfortunately, some inventory and manufacturer availability issues are not always known at the time an order is placed, and in this case, the rear suspension components became delayed beyond the original estimate.
That said, we agree that better communication should have been provided, and you should not have had to follow up multiple times to receive updates on your order status. I drive a 2021 Tacoma . I ordered REAR shock resavoir and mounts (running me around 2000 dollars). Package arrived and i was sent f150 6 inch front struts ; i mean how do you mix that up. I am asking to get a full refund because it’s not even like it was a mistake where i can place the part on my truck. They’ve ignored my emails and now im down 2000 dollars . Never ordering from here ever again .

Bilstein 6112 for 2021 GMC AT4
The website was very easy and manageable to find the correct strut assembly for my truck. I loved the fact that the Bilstein 6112s came completely assembled. It was well worth the additional price to have all new bushings and components all assembled and basically just bolt on. I love how the Bilstein 6112 rides and makes my truck handle. I was worried about the stiffness over the 5100s, but it rides like a Cadillac...lol No more body roll over uneven surfaces and it does not ride like a rock truck without shocks. Well worth the money for the Bilstein 6112s fully assembled.

Shock surplus has by far the greatest reviews on shocks and what each shock is capable of. Great website and easy to navigate. There was major confusion with my order and communication with me which I hope is just a me problem. I was told my shock was out of stock about 3 days after my order. I requested a different setup only to have the original order sent to me. My order was shipped almost a week after my order which is slower than other sites. Overall I’m very pleased with the shocks and they perform well.

They are reasonably quick to ship and prices are right
The folks at Shock Surplus provide some great feedback when I called to discuss my options. They knew their product well and I enjoyed the owner's youtube videos discussing what to look for. The product shipped in 2 batches and the 2nd shipment didn't have tracking on the website. Both shipments arrive in a reasonably timely fashion. However the 1st shipment was damaged by the shipper not shock surplus. A few chats later all resolved.

I have order a few sets of bilstein shocks from this site, and only had an issue with one order that the shocks were leaking in the packaging. Fox issues must be resolved directly with Fox... at your expense
Purchased Fox coil overs for my 2018 Toyota Tacoma. Upon the first test driver the passenger side was leaking from the reservoir. Called Shock Surplus immediately and was told they don't handle any warranty claims for Fox. Called Fox and was told to create a ticket. After many emails back and forth I was told to remove the shock and send back at my expense. Ridiculous in my opinion after just spending nearly $1800. Cost me an additional $120 shipping... and almost 2 weeks without my primary vehicle. Either buy at a local shop so they'll help you OR find another shock manufacturer with a meaningful warranty. Shock was returned with no protective wrapping and scratched. Thanks Fox!

Choices are limited for the Hummer H3
There's a limited selection of products available for vehicles that are no longer in production. They had the best ones and provided the questions about how the vehicle was to be used to make the correct choice. The truck rides better than when I bought it.

Easy plug and play to find parts for vehicle
Great company easy to find parts that fit your specific vehicle. Competitive prices. Have bought a set of rancho shocks for my 06 Silverado and had to return one due to it being defective out the box but SS was willing to get me a more one no problem. However second set I order reservoir shocks bilsteins 5160 then come to find out a week or so later they were on back order and would not receive until a month later. Almost a month passes and get another email saying it’s looking another month delay. No true apology, discount, or any incentive to make up for the issue. So for that I give them 4 stars.

Wow, truly a masterclass in customer service. You sent me the wrong part, advertised “hassle-free” returns, then had me complete what felt like an Olympic decathlon just to return it. And after all that, since you don’t even carry the part I actually need, your solution is store credit. Fantastic. I’ll be sure to use that on all the other parts you don’t have.
