Great experience, knowledgeable and helpful mentors, interesting lessons, and amazing community and support!

I was looking to improve my music production and mixing skills. I was having trouble finding a program who had my best interest, that I felt confident would help me get to the next step in my skills and not just make a quick buck off of me. I came across Soundfly and it was the best decision I made. They have a plethora of helpful courses within the subscription and they also have free courses to get your toes wet! The cool thing about Soundfly is that I was able to do a 1 on 1 mentorship for 6 weeks (you can choose 4-6 weeks per preference). I got a consultation call to figure out the best mentor for me and talk about what skills I exactly wanted to improve. My mentor, Andrea, was awesome! He has a widespread of knowledge and he helped me gain confidence in my skills to take it to the next level. Soundfly is and feels like a community who wants to better their students. I highly recommend using Soundfly!

I cannot say enough good things about Soundfly. The sales team isn't pushy and takes the time to understand your goals in order to assign you the mentor best tailored to your needs. My mentor wasn't just knowledgeable but also genuinely cared about teaching. Soundfly mentorship expedited my learning tenfold from YouTube videos, without the price tag of a formal learning institution.

I am an independent producer and singer.

I was really struggling with the vocal production. That’s the reason I tried the 6 week lesson. The lessons were insanely good and it improved my production a lot.

My experience with soundfly was great. I am still learning a lot from the courses on their website. Working 1 2 1 with mentor was worth it for me. I took a lot of notes and asked tons of questions. They are very professional and supportive.

I'm aware that there are a lot of online courses for music out there and I've always been a bit reluctant to do them because the quality is not guaranteed, but I gave Soundfly a try and am truly impressed by the content. The videos are well made, the written content is articulate and easy to understand, and the activities help me practice effectively. Not to mention the CEO and founder, Ian, is genuinely passionate about learning and music. In other words, Soundfly's sparked my enthusiasm in improving my musical skills. Great job, Soundfly team and teachers!

I happened to stumble upon Soundfly by accident and I'm so glad that I went ahead with their mentorship program. I wanted to get a foundation in songwriting and I got exactly what I was looking for and more. My mentor, Charlotte Yates knows how to channel you in the right direction and was very encouraging and motivational. The best part was that I didn't feel anxious in her presence (which is something I struggle with) the 4 weeks were a true joy and I was given the space to feel comfortable enough to truly explore, learn and feel more confident in such a short time. Will definitely be doing more mentorships down the line at Soundfly at different stages of my growth. Highly recommend!

I worked with Tim Maryon through Soundfly. While it may sound trite and disingenuous, it was truly a game changer. Prior to my work with Tim, I felt as though I was aimlessly puttering around, stuck in musical purgatory. I didn't lack ambition, but I lacked practical guidance that would allow me to form an actionable game plan both in the short and long term. I now feel as though I create with purpose, that I'm no longer bogged down by what I once felt my limitations were, and that the demystification of the process has lifted my creative paralysis. Thank you for all that you've done Tim, it was an absolute pleasure working with you.

My mentor was inspiring. I did a 4-week mentorship. I really like this model. Most of the project and tasks were self-directed and on my own, but that is realistic and what a mentor is (not a teacher). You need to use your mentor as a sounding board and accountability partner while you do the work on your own- you can’t expect them to teach you something too much in depth- that is not what this is. My mentor helped track my progress and had excellent tips, tricks and suggestions to get to the next step. I got from point A where I was, to point B, though I still have a lot of work to do to improve my skills. She had the experience and skills to help me through my project, be a role model, and give good suggestions.

Had a great four-week session with an experienced mentor, who clearly recognised my learning needs and catered the program to uplift my skills. I got individual support and feedback to create sheet music using Musescore, which was my original goal. Following that, I was guided to compose and produce my own piano pieces!! which was super awesome. I have gained confidence and acquired tips and cues to advance in my music career with much stronger interest and direction. I strongly recommend this course if you need catered support and helpful and positive staff that guide you towards your learning goals.

I had a great 4 weeks really nailing how to use Ableton and sharpen my mixing skills. I have learnt so much in such a short amount of time! I would definitely do it again!

Complete waste of time, they keep saying they're going to set you up with top mentors and talent and then they pick somebody that's less talented they don't give you a way to contact that person, they keep trying to sell you their monthly system of which they're going to take forever to teach you something versus learn the things that you want to learn or be mentored on the things that you want to learn. When you give them feedback they're like little kindergarten babies they get all upset because you're not doing everything they want and they're not making money. The main guy works out of a little tiny apartment trying to network I guess with these top talents that he claims he has and yet you can never get to any of the top talents, at least I couldn't and I tried for over a week. Don't waste your time, anybody that has that level of unprofessionalism, can't take feedback can't communicate is not worth the time of day. You can't buy back time and this guy just wastes it. His reply shows his unprofessionalism. I never harassed them I sent an email saying I was discouraged with the fact that every day he sent me emails saying he was going to set me up with somebody and never did. And then when we talked on the phone we had a very nice conversation until the point he then abruptly interrupted the nice conversation and said geez you’re just not good enough for us. He’s unprofessional, the whole thing is a stack of cards with a lot of fancy upfront graphics, but basically they’re trying to sell you stuff and they really don’t care about you is what I learned from the way that they acted. If they truly had good customer service and cared about people they would’ve not react this way. For him now to defend me because I told the truth the hell they acted as a company and acted in providing with their advertising, by not providing with their advertising, shows their true colors. If you wanna waste your time with these people you’ll find out it’s the same

I came to soundfly looking for direction because I simply didn’t have the knowledge of how to move forward in my music career. The mentor they paired me with was actually pretty perfect for me, he was direct and encouraging and was happy to answer questions (even when I needed certain things repeated, which I often do). Learning what I was doing wrong was every bit as helpful as learning what I was doing right, if not more so. Now after four weeks I’ve got a clear roadmap to follow in order to jumpstart my career. What’s more, and perhaps one of the most valuable takeaways, is that my mentor is someone I’ll be able to reach out to in the future. Bottom line: I’m glad I took a chance here and I’ll encourage others to do the same if they’re looking for one on one mentoring. The prices are honestly fantastic for what you get, so what’s to not consider?

Update: Soundfly invited me to give feedback about why I was cancelling my subscription, so I shared a similar sentiment to my disappointed review below. They were super responsive and found a solution that makes me very happy. I am impressed by their treatment of customers and recommend this company and their content for anyone who is interested in subscription-based learning. Thank you, Soundfly!

Subscription service for courses just plain isn’t a workable model for producers who are busy balancing a life outside the studio. Would have preferred to pay for my course outright and have access to the material for ongoing reference. Self-directed learning is designed for people to progress at their own pace, not feel pressured to rush through the curriculum (or cancel the subscription in my case) because the next month’s charge is looming. Every passing month = decreased value for money if you’re not moving through content quickly. And losing future access to course content after viewing assumes students learn once and retain the instruction over time, which isn’t realistic at all. Waste of money for anyone who wants the surgical strike of one excellent course rather than making payments to Soundfly for a year or more.

I wanted to get some professional feedback on my productions from someone with way more experience than me. So I decided to work with Ian Prince, a Grammy winning producer. We had weekly calls and after 4 weeks he helped me tighten up my production and I learnt a bunch of techniques and approaches that I can use on all my productions moving forward. I will probably work with Ian again in the future. Highly recommended private mentoring if you're serious about making progress as an artist/producer.

Learned so much from my man Leon Kelly. He was excellent with his advice on mixing and also made it a fun experience. I've definitely noticed a big improvement in my music and in the way I make music.

I saw an advert for the Kimbra songwriting course and I thought it looked amazing so got someone to buy me a subscription for a big birthday. What I hadn't realised was all the other courses that come with the subscription. Part way through the Kimbra course, she set an exercise to improvise over a loop track. I didn't know how to make a loop track but there was another course on the emotional power of chords, so I went through that and now I can make loop tracks so I can finish the Kimbra course (part way through the chords course, I didn't know how to make a beat but there's several courses for that too. This subscription is like a Matryoshka Doll for learning!)
What I'm trying to say is that I'm a beginner to songwriting and music production and usually on courses like this, I get stuck because the tutors have assumed I have a skill I don't have but Soundfly has everything I need (so far) to get me unstuck. I'm loving it.

I honestly didn't know what to expect, as I had never gone to school for music or been taught 1-on-1. I figured this would be better than the submissions and just getting back a 'no' or 'we went with someone else'. I just so happened to find out Soundfly existed while searching online for a tutor. Best decision I ever made, hands down.

When they say the experience is 'tailor-made' for you, the really mean it. My mentor was able to meet me right where I was and help me strengthen the areas that needed the most work. Everything I learned with him was something I was able to put into immediate use in my own compositions. I would recommend this to anyone regardless of where they are in their musical journey..

My journey with Soundfly started around two years ago when I wanted to take mixing and production into my own hands. After having taken a number of successful mentorship courses, I am now at a point where I am able to mix and produce my own music. That would not have been possible without the well designed courses and the talented and caring mentors. Not to forget the slack community where the mentors and the students are there for each other to uplift, support, give constructive feedback and inspire. Even their newsletter is so informational and moving that it keeps fueling the passion in learning and growing. I always have the feeling that the Soundfly crew cares. They care about the quality of what they offer, they care about their students and they care about art. It’s the most loving, inspiring and effective online music learning platform I have encountered. I HIGHLY recommend any aspiring musician to try Soundfly!
