Love step. Got cards for all my family. Easy to add funds and monitor my kids. Teaches responsibly. Easy to move funds between card to bank. Customer service is awesome and helps with all concerns. Honest their better then my primary bank. Had step a while now and would definitely recommend. Never had a bad experience

WORST BANK I EVER DEALT WITH. Customer service is incompetent. Do not bank with Step; you will regret it. Their promises are not genuine. They claim you can receive your direct deposit two days early, which has proven to be untrue. On two occasions, my paycheck was deposited on the day the check was issued and not two days prior. They blamed this on my company not notifying them two days in advance. However, when I contacted my HR department, they confirmed that Step was notified. It's important to note that Step's partner bank is Evolve, which means there is a two-step process involved. I only used this account to pay bills, which caused issues with some of my vendors.
Please take my advice: opt for a well-known brick-and-mortar bank. I have just switched to Discover and will never deal with an online bank again. When you use a brick-and-mortar bank, you have the benefit of communicating with a live agent, which can be incredibly valuable. Additionally, some vendors do not accept credit cards as payment, which I found frustrating while banking with Step.
Mark my words, do not bank with Step.

Plus, whenever I have trouble with the system working because of banking accounts changing or phone networks changing... any number of reasons... Whenever I ask for help I get almost immediate responses and guidance about how to solve my problem. Very reliable

I am an adult and I have come to really like this card. The instant debit money addition feature is a life saver. I do a lot of online business and this card has been wonderful to have. The rewards are just awesome. There's no need to wait for 3-5 business days to transfer money from the checking account, it comes direct to the card within seconds.

I love this app in general, not only can I use it for my direct deposit I can get cash back with the point system and everything! They also helped me with a problem that I’ve been having for quite some time now, and knowing me, I don’t like any issues when it comes to my money and getting that check— so it’s overall in my opinion it’s better than cash app, PayPal and whatever other forms of banking apps there are- AND STEP HELPS BUILD CREDIT. I absolutely love this cause I’ve been had this since I was eleven and every since then it’s been building my credit and now that I’m 18 my credit score is AMAZING, (yes I do have credit straight to adulthood)

Unbeknownst to me, this company reported their "debit card" as a secured credit card to the 3 credit bureaus. My score dropped a very large number. I never gave them permission to convert the debit card to a secure card.

My two teens use Step cards and we’ve found it to be a great arrangement. I can control money transfers easily, and they like the functionality to track and save their money. The staff is also helpful and responsive.

So June 4th 2025 I put in an order at mcdonalds uses doordash as their delivey doordash was suppose to deliver it and instead of communicating with me like they should have the woman canceled the order I have the canceled order receipt I shared it with step and told them to please get the money back because mcdonalda delivery which is doordash canceled the order and I did not get the food and I am not paying for the food I did not receive anyways I've been writing g them left and right with no success of them putting back the money even though they have the canceled order receipt to prove I did not get my order they keep saying 90 days no way youbhave lost you ever living mind if you think im waiting 3 months for this order I never got the money should have went right back on my account when the order was canceled yet it hasn't and it's been nearly a month with no results my nest step is a lawyer to sue them and mcdonalds for stealing my money

Honestly was so skeptical but not disappointed!
I really was weary of signing up with step knowing it was not a tradional banking system, however they have proven me wrong . It is a great company to use for multiple reasons. Using Step ive managed to drastically increase my credit in just 1.5 years , going from fair to exceptional . I also love the rewards that come with card - making purchases feel less like a sting when spending money . If you have a child who likes to buy things on their sticky ipad or other gaming systems , this card is a GEM ! They get their own debit card to enter into the devices, so no more giving them your card info , and having situations of "accidental" spending - the card will also help them build credit if 18+ , so another bonus ! Their customer service is also great - very promt - never have had to wait more than 24 hrs for responses with actual solutions ! Overall 10/10 Fintech company !
