Purchased this hidden shelf,Opening the box there was no instructions,none of the cards worked to open the hidden shelf, Upon calling was told batteries must be dead and I would have to buy a battery back up pac to get it to open, $39.00 and on order back log.Not happy. Was not given any specific instructions when purchasing and what to do upon its arrival. Should not have to spend more money to get product to operate

Funny, I have all the documentation to back up my review. Many other customers have shared similar negative experiences. I wouldn't have canceled the payment if proper customer service had been provided. I am more than happy to supply proof, as Tactical Traps offered nothing but excuses.

I really wanted to like this product. It made total sense but nothing I have purchased in years has left me more frustrated than this high maintenance shelf and I purchased two of them before I learned this lesson. You have to look at it like a dependent pet vs an asset you can count on. The major flaw that can not be ignored is that the system is run on 3A batteries. These have much, much less life than 2A batteries and you combine that with the always-on design and you have something that will lock you out of your gun on a regular basis. Then you have to purchase a more senseless products to open it and in the end even all those will fail and you have to break it open and they sent me a link to a air wedge tool on Amazon that can force it open. All the well meaning staff can not overcome this and all the training to get it open once the batteries fail will never be worth the hassle since then going forward you're supposed to replace the batteries every 4 months. If you only have one gun and you plan to use this shelf weekly or more then you might keep up with the goldfish like responsibilities but just buy a better product that batteries last for years not months and even then a key can get it open if the batteries fail. I see you updated your response below with a dishonest statement. I was forced to purchased a overpriced battery backup and additional master cards from you. I did contact you again and the last card you sent me did not work and so you recommended forcing the shelve open.

It seems that the internal wire may have gotten knocked loose causing the battery pack to not be able to give power to the lock. Please follow the instructions below to get into the unit. It can be purchased at a local hardware store.

ABSOLUTE GARAGE!! Wish I would have never bought this shelf. Starting the first week I bought my shelf last year I've constantly dealt with brand new Energizer batteries that don't even last a month. The backup battery pack is 100% useless when the main batteries die inside the shelf and the lock loses all programming for the card and you have to pry the shelf open damaging the cheap wood and the pin that goes in the cheap Chinese lock itself. I'm done contacting this company with very little assistance other than being told to pry the shelf open push and hold the number three button on the lock to reprogram it. I finally got this POS open for the last time dismounted it from my wall and threw it in the trash where it belongs. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS POS PRODUCT EVEN IF THEY OFFER YOU A LIFETIME SUPPLY OF ASPIRIN. ITS NOT WORTH IT.

I just purchased my first Patriot 35S pistol shelf and I want to be fair and honest with this review. First, the idea is genius and the open/close mechanism works beautifully. I would give it a 5 of 5 on that end but my problem comes in with the installation. It is very, very difficult to install. I have installed many shelves over the years but this one is more difficult than most. First problem, the set included 4 wood screws which obviously were made of Chinese butter. I got the first screw in crooked because of the difficulty reaching the area where the screw goes and, when I tried to back it out, the entire head of the screw reamed out and I had to muscle it out with pliers. Second problem, if the shelf had been just a couple inches longer, you could get the screws into two studs; however, the shorter length requires that you just screw into sheet rock (not very stable). Common sense says to use sheet rock anchors with your screws but they are not included or mentioned in the limited guidelines. I know this may sound picky but when you are trying to get this shelf on the wall, stronger screws, sheet rock anchors and just a few inches wider would bring the rating up from 3 to 5. Arrived on time and in great shape. Looks great on our wall. My wife loves it.

My key cards quit working and when I contacted the company I was told I had two options. Buy a master key card to reset the keys or purchase an item to break into the shelf. I purchased the Mastercard. It did work and open my shelf, but I was unable to re-key the cards so now I have an open shelf that I can’t even get to lock closed. Wasted $250. Do not recommend this item.

This is supposed to be a gun safe but it doesn't open every time, which could be a problem in a home invasion/self defense situation. I have programmed my fingerprint in (actually three fingers) and it often takes several times to get the safe to unlock. Also, when there is a gun in there, you have to push on it to get it open. When it's empty, it just opens, which also is counterintuitive in a panic/self defense situation. If you want storage it is probably workable. If you want it for home protection, it is not ideal.

Product is good but service sticks. Took 2 tries to get a device to unlock a frame with dead batteries. So double the cost.

One star because ZERO Stars is not an option. Never EVER by from Tactical Traps. Horrible, HORRIBLE Customer Service!!! Product was received damaged. After seeing lack of quality, I just wanted to return item for refund. I was told they would first send me a replacement, then I could return item. In what Universe does this make sense? In the meantime, I shipped damaged item back, only for it to be returned to me as undeliverable. $70 shipping...gone! I contacted them so many times I lost track. After months of meaningless excuses I received a refund after I got PayPal involved. Stay FAR, FAR AWAY from this TRAP... TACTICAL TRAPS or you may regret doing business with them like I did. Learn from other people's mistakes. 0/5 F- Horrible HORRIBLE Experience.

The item I purchased is The Tactical Fireplace Mantle 6ft and it was tooooo big for my wall. We call it big stupid. I had to take it down and now i’m trying to get it converted into a sofa table.

Overall, I am very pleased with my shelf. I purchased the 22” version. 2 things that would improve the design,
1. A usb chargeable lock mechanism with an external charging port.
2. The wall support was 16” edge to edge. I ad to use 1 hollow wall anchor.
Otherwise, very happy!

I purchased the short & long shelves and the workmanship and quality are amazing 👏

This is my 3rd purchase with the company and like usual I'm really impressed! Yeah, it didn't ship as fast as Amazon but I'd rather wait a couple days extra for quality then buy junk. The products they offer are real furniture and something I'm proud to display in my home. And I'm a picky guy.

Received a firearm shelf and the foam was too small to accommodate a mid size pistol. I emailed to ask about it and they wanted pictures so I took several and emailed them on 5/29/26. On 6/3/26 I got an email saying my ticket was closed! I emailed them same day and they responded and Again they
wanted more pictures so I took a few more. On 6/8/26 I received another email saying that my ticket was closed! I don’t think they have any intention on helping me.

Update!!
The manager reviewed my pictures and said that the foam they sent me was indeed too short and they are sending me the correct one!!

It’s now 6/22/26 and I have yet to receive my foam

It’s now 7/11/26 and still no Foam!!!

The shelf is nice. However, the locking system never worked. The directions and troubleshooting is horrible. I tried adjusting the hinges, replaced batteries fiddled with the locking pin. Zero, never worked. A complete waste of money.

Read the reviews. long wait times to receive orders.. not keeping parts on hand, been waiting 30 days already the site says it will be 7 -14 days for delivery.
I'm honestly just looking for a refund at this point. I can't believe this company is still in business in 2026.

I own several Tactical Traps products and have been very pleased with their performance. More importantly, however, on the rare occasion I’ve needed their customer service, it has always been first rate. Highly recommend.
