Terminix Business Practices are Condescending to say the least

I called to switch services from another pest control company because the rates had gone way up. The sales person at Terminix beat the price. I agreed. He said he was going to email the contract and scheduled my first service. After the weekend, I realized that I hadn’t received the contract. I called and was told that the contract didn’t exist and that I must have called another company. I know it was the correct phone number for Terminix because I have a business account for termites with them. I asked for a quote and it was more than twice the amount of the other pest control company. I declined. In addition, I’m going to hire another company to take over the termite control at my business.
I felt very disrespected. I don’t recommend Terminix because I don’t like their business practices.

If I could give negative stars

If I could give negative stars, I would. They came out and did an inspection on our property and then said they can’t even do what we needed them to do (We told them what we needed before they came). Called customer service for verification and possible recommendations for sister companies only to have an extremely rude agent who informed us that these unprofessional inspectors described our home as “a run down trailer”. This company is highly offensive with terrible employees and offer no help or resolution and make you feel stupid for even asking for help. It was their audacity that was the most offensive. Do not contact them for anything whatsoever.

Gross Negligence – Extensive Roof Damage Caused by Terminix Fumigation

I hired Terminix to perform fumigation on my home in La Jolla, CA in April 2025. The outcome was catastrophic.

Pre-fumigation inspection (April 25, 2025): Independent roofing contractor (Roof Rx, Inc.) documented only 46 broken tiles and 6 slipped tiles.

Post-fumigation inspection (April 30, 2025): The same contractor documented 182 broken tiles, including 136 new breaks that occurred during fumigation.

Physical inspection (June 4, 2025): A further 54 broken tiles plus extensive underlayment and flat roof damage were discovered.

The cumulative repair costs exceeded $19,500, all verified by signed change orders, work orders, and final invoices.

Terminix attempted to deflect responsibility by sending me a “Limited Roof Coverage Waiver” and referencing documents that do not apply in cases of gross negligence. Under California law, waivers do not excuse a company from liability where there is an extreme departure from the standard of care.

🚨 Key Facts:

My roof was in serviceable condition before fumigation (verified by drone inspection).

The extensive damage occurred during the fumigation window.

The contractor confirmed the damage was caused by excessive roof access and lack of protection during tent placement and removal.

⚖️ My Position:

This is a clear case of gross negligence. I am pursuing reimbursement of $19,521.04 and have prepared to escalate the matter with the California Structural Pest Control Board, Contractors State License Board, and Consumer Affairs.

Big disappointment for such big name

What a big disappointment for such big name. I choose Terminix because I thought they were going to do a great job, however, the giant lack of communication between the customer service people, technicians, manager towards the client (me) was unbelievable. The degree of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability especially from the technician who had to come to my property to get the job done (heat treatment service) that never showed up and the big lack of communication from him and the company towards me was very frustrating giving the fact that it took time, effort and money to get the house ready (getting family, pets and stuff out of the house) for a service that was NEVER delivered. It is understandable of delays or issues along the way on the company's side but still, client should know right away, regardless of if the service was going to be provided by Terminix or by a separate company contracted by them, someone should have taken responsibility to ensure that the client received the service promised and delivered on a timely manner. I would advise to anyone that appreciates their time, and money shouldn't hire Terminix at all.

Scammers! They forgot to cancel my commercial service and then spammed me and sent a million letters and calls demanding money. Run like hell! They are not an honest company.

Do not work with this Garbage company

Do not work with this Garbage company, they are bunch of Thieves, they will rip you off with so many stupid fees, very be careful, on my second service they tried to close my side gate, they couldn't, so they in force the gate and they broke it, which cost $400 to fix it and never took any responsibility to admitted. and top of that they are charging me $85 dollars a month, were had agreement every time they provide me service then charge that fee, they call it QUARTERLY CHARGES.
Total Bull Shit....

Over-promise and under deliver.

Over-promise and under deliver.
Terminix seems to be a scam. During the onboarding process I was sweet talked into believing that the techs would lake good care of my property.
In reality, these technicians show up to house, don’t ring the doorbell or announce themselves, and when my wife asked him a question, he was rude to my wife. Consistently, they are not performing the services that we have been paying for. When I signed up, I was told that as part of the inspection, any spiderwebs would be cleaned up, paper wasp nests would be knocked down and any ant hills removed. None of this inspection cleanup has been done and the technicians are only on my property for less than 10 minutes once per quarter for which I’m paying over $50 per month. That’s $150 for 10 minutes of walking around our house and spraying the edge which I can see on the Ring camera playbacks. They even email me a generic report that includes their start and stop time, so they know they are not completing a good service. We had ants come into the house a few days after the last service, and I haven’t seen ants inside all year. The paper wasps are all over and there are several nests along the gutters which the tech walked under but didn’t look up (single story house). Honestly, I think I deserve a refund for this year, but either way, I am cancelling this scam. I reached out to customer service twice, was told that the issue would be escalated and that the manager would get back to me. It has now been 30 days and I haven’t been contacted.

The communication from the local office…And faulty equipment

The communication from the local office was terible.the managers should get out of the office and talk to each other. The young guys doing the work have been good but the duct taped equipment and lack of what they need has slowed down the insulation install. Its not their fault that they are getting pulled to do other thing instead of finishing my job. I would not recommend Terminix at all. They are the worst.

3000 dollars for SMALL termite problem now holes in my yard

3000 dollars for SMALL termite problem. Then 30 a month after. We got scammed. We canceled the 30 dollars a month after and they had the gall to come dig their traps out of our yard leaving holes... 3000 plus dollars and you cannot leave some plastic traps? On top of that we had damage after their first visit where they were not exterminated. They say there is a guarantee to repair damage. This is a lie we had to have it fixed. I am very upset at this company and their treatment. Did I say 3000 dollars!! for some plastic and a little poison. A call to them lead to a regional person saying well the damage never got to me.... really..

Terminix pest control

I have never dealt with a company that had such poor communication skills in my life. Not easy to get in touch with someone and it takes 2 to 3 days for someone to get back to you. I had two occasions where the technician didn’t show or call. I just canceled my account. I never wanna deal with them again. I want to warn other people that they’re very expensive. They charge quite a bit of money for coming out in spring and checking your surroundings and they have the worst on track on time record ever go with a local company and not this one.

I do not recommend Terminix

I do not recommend Terminix. Their services were ineffective—I continued to have pest (insect) issues, especially with mosquitoes, and saw no significant improvement compared to the year before when I had no service at all. Despite reaching out multiple times, they never provided a real resolution.

When I tried to cancel, they made the process extremely difficult, promising to escalate but never following through. They eventually told me my account was canceled, yet they kept sending people to my house and kept charging me. Even after calling again to cancel, they still showed up and charged me over for services I did not want.

Overall, their pest control was not effective, not worth the cost, and their customer service tactics were frustrating and full of empty promises.

(A side note to add that the individual technician who came to my home was very nice and respectful, but no real assessment or expertise was provided by anyone at Terminix to address the continued pest issues).

Failure to honor quote and issue warranty

After finding mice in the attic, I purchased a treatment along with 6 inches of new insulation and a roof solar-powered attic fan for a total of over $7,000. I was sold an attic fan with a "lifetime warranty" from Terminix. All Terminix provide me was a limited manufacturer's warrant that only covered manfacturing defects. Thus I was lied to and sold something Terminix will not deliver and stand behind.

Wow….Just….Wow

If I could give this company zero stars, that would be my rating. First of all, I purchased a home at the end of July 2025, about two weeks into my new residency, I decided I wanted to do preventative pest control in order to protect my investment. I made a phone call to the 1-800 number listed online and was quickly engaged in a very friendly conversation with a fairly kind woman. This woman assured me that my appointment could be made in the afternoon because no one is home anytime before 2:30 PM and I stress that to her very adamantly. She scheduled my appointment took my bank account information (to so-call reserve my appointment slot) and ensured me that they would be there no earlier than 2:30 PM. Two days before my scheduled appointment I received the friendly reminder phone call with the automated message, reciting my appointment date and time window which to my surprise was set for between 10 AM and 3 PM. Immediately I called the 1-800 number back again. I was then told that yes in fact, my appointment was scheduled for in the morning and they weren’t sure why she would’ve promised it scheduled for the afternoon “because it’s a initial appointment so it takes longer and there’s absolutely no one in my area to do that at the time I requested.” I was told the appointment had to be canceled and they would get me onto the schedule for another 8 days later. When I questioned that I had to wait another 8 days she said that she was going to make a notation that I am requesting the first available appointment. when that appointment came, the gentleman came to my home only to my surprise announcing he was only there for a termite inspection( in which all he did was talk to me while walking through my home; he literally looked nowhere for termites or even signs of termites).He didn’t look in my crawlspace, he didn’t look in my eaves off attic area, he didn’t look anywhere. He assured me that he would send me a wonderful discount of rate for treatment for termites because that’s a separate entity in itself from the PestFree 365+ monthly plan that I initially signed up for. I then called Terminix again and asked what was going on because I was expecting to receive treatment and still yet no one has came to my house to do anything of that nature. It was at that time that I decided that you know what I don’t want any services from this company because it seems to be a joke regardless of how many decades of experience they have; they clearly are lacking in customer service and communication. And it gets even better than all of that; three weeks later, I get a text message from a gentleman telling me that I’m on his schedule for pest control treatment and that he was just sending me a friendly text reminder and I responded ever so politely letting him know that I should not be on his schedule because I in fact told Terminix if I ever decided I wanted their services I would contact them. He said that he was sorry for the inconvenience and forwarded my information to his supervisor(which nothing ever came of). Two days later, I’m looking at my bank statement and I see a charge for Terminix for $54 for services in which I never received. In addition to me never having received that there is a e-signature document that they emailed me multiple times that I NEVER signed, which is what binds the agreement to allow them to debit that money for my bank account. So as far as I’m concerned, they illegally withdrew money from my bank account. I called customer service a final time demanding that they refund me my money that they took from my bank account without my permission. The woman who I spoke with was very polite and very kind. She assured me that she put in a refund and canceled my services, not only for the service portion, but also the payment portion because apparently that was never canceled and also remove my payment method from the account. I can’t seem to fathom how this company still even exist with service like this or lack there of. I would absolutely never ever recommend Terminix to anybody!!!!!

Brian Ramsey is my service tech

Brian Ramsey is my service tech. He is here on time and immediately comes to the door to check in with us. He is quick to explain and tell us of any problems he found. He also lets us know what he did during the visit. Before he leaves, he always lets us know, that he is able to come back if we experience any unforeseen problems related to the pest. Thank you all for your services.

Zero stars for exclusion service

Zero stars (Detroit, MI location). Spent a lot of money getting exclusion service for a 4 unit apartment building, with the promise to protect the entire building from intrusion by blocking all holes greater than a pinky sized hole, only to find most of the building they did nothing to seal the building, even after emailing the salesman multiple times with pics. Only to find out the salesman don't share anything with the actual pest control workers. The operators do nothing but pass along complaints and appointment requests, not actually make appointments. The appointments are one month intervals, where the tenants have repeatedly threatened to move out, making the warranty useless. Had to hire another company to address tenant concerns of repeated mice intrusion. I tried calling to get at least a partial refund only they have no interest in doing that as they never called back.

Do not use this company terminix!
I contracted them in late 2023 thinking they will get rid of all the termites everything was good with them and in July of this year they didn't inspection and they said there was no termites and this month August we are full of termites as the photo shows I contacted them and they said that my contract was over and I was never notified of this I am in a big dispute with them they do not warant their work and the inspector who came out noted as the report shows that he found nothing!

Horrible, HORRIBLE customer service. I couldn't get anyone on the phone and their website was only chat bots. I asked for my traps to be read in April. I explained in the chat bot option I won't renew unless the traps tell me there is activity. Seems a waste to pay for nothing. In May a technician came out read one trap, and said he would need to come back - never did. I waited, as their marketing text services still text about other services. Their chat bot texted today, using a local number (which I find deceptive and there is no local number for me to call). I called back. The representative said they would transfer me to cancel, and after 10 minutes on hold, I called back. The next representative said it would automatically cancel, there was nothing to do and the traps will stay and no way to text me (although their marketing team has no problem do that) to confirm my account is cancelled unless I provide an email. I'm betting based on other reviews that someone will come take them. I will never call them again. HORRIBLE

Rip off

I called Terminix and explained I needed an inspection for a real estate transaction for my grandma. The customer service agent said they offer FREE inspections, I even asked twice and said what it was for again, free free free is what I was told. The technician said it was actually $175. I could have gone with a company that offered $90. They refuse to accommodate their mistake of the customer service rep. I called the local branch too, and I was told the price after they did the work, not before.
