A very careful and thorough organizer
Finding Tibet Tour has been for me such a relief, especially for a destination (Tibet) requiring permit and clear organization. As well as a trek (Kailash kora) involving high altitudes hence a good guide.
Before : Lhamo, my contact, has been more than helpful. She has answered every question and laid down every detail of organization up to my getting hold of the Tibetan permit between 2 flights. Incredible sense of being held for every detail of the organization, from permit to flights to communication in China to payments etc.
During the trip : the whole itinerary was thoroughly explained not only by our excellent guide, Jigme, but also by the responsible in Lhasa, at the occasion of diner offered to the group. Super clear and transparent. It felt obvious Tibet Tour was here to share an extensive experience and the best conditions possible.
Each hotel has been super : large, spotless rooms, wifi, and all you can imagine. The 2 nights during the kora are spent in guest houses with basics, which you can't avoid. Yet way sufficient to recharge batteries.
The itinerary beyond the kora was filled with taste and understanding of the group : important monasteries in the history of buddhism in Tibet, glaciers, sacred lakes (Manasarovar, Yamdrok), like if following the threads of great masters (Padmasambhava amongst others).
I have to note that we were 20km from the Nepalese border when the disaster happened. Jigme and Norbu (driver) self mastery and quick decisions, in accordance with Lhasa offices and informations, made it that we were immediately taken higher in the plateau, safe and sound.
When playing with high altitudes and the natural risks of this kind, having a very thorough and group-care orientated organizer is more than important.
A few more chunks of gratitude ; Norbu, the driver, was super efficient and sober in his drive. Our bus was ever spotless, and every detail (like tea breaks in the middle of a mind blowing valley) was here to feel the peculiarity of such a journey.
The deep knowledge of land and culture Jigme has developed makes it that you get the best of the region you traverse.
My own experience is that this trip is like no other. The majesty of Mt Kailash, the Everst basecamp, the sacred lakes and the contact of local people (from Jigme and Norbu to the local hosts that offered lunches on the way) have been up to the high expectations I was having - for its a trip I dream of since I was 12...
Absolutely magic.
