Although the claim process was orderly, one of the very first claim questions was "Amount of Claim." Our claim was for a downgrade due to a cancelled flight and had to fly economy rather than the premium economy we paid for. The problem was, we paid Viking River Cruises for our airfare which was supposedly "50% off," so I had no idea as to what the difference in economy and premium economy was! To Trip Mate's credit, I claimed a "guestimate" of the difference and they paid slightly less, but very close, than what I guessed the difference was. I really think that since Viking had control of the airfare booking and pricing and is selling the Trip Mate insurance, the 2 companies should work together and I shouldn't have had to research airfares, etc., trying to come up with a reasonable figure for the claim. In other words, it should have been a seamless, automatic process. However, we did get paid and I am satisfied with the payment!

We have purchased travel insurance from Trip Mate for several trips abroad, always with the hope of never having to use it. Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip at the last minute due to a severe respiratory condition. Submitting a claim was straight forward with good guidance. The response time was very quick and efficient.

My mother became very ill close to departure and we were not able to go on our Viking cruise. The online claim process was very detailed but the step by step instructions made it straight forward to navigate and the Trip Mate representatives were compassionate and answered all my questions when I called for help. My claim was processed very quickly and I received a full refund on my cruise. All of this was done with respect and compassion from each representative I spoke to. I am grateful that we had insurance through Trip Mate and appreciate that it made a very stressful time a little bit easier.

My husband and I had to leave the Viking World Cruise after 4 months. When I received TripMate forms, it felt like a daunting task. I procrastionated but eventually began calling for help. Viking representatives assisted me every step of the way. It took one week to process my claim.

This is trip mate insurance is a “trip”. I purchase my travel insurance from World Nomad and this is trip mate is the one that handles my claim. My baggage was delayed 1 day from Heathrow to Scotland, as per travel insurance i am covered if it is delayed. They did not reimburse me for any inconvenience. So please do not get insurance from World Nomad and this trip mate insurance. We will not go back to them anymore

bought travel protection for my mother to fly on august 16th 2025. Unfortunately, she got very sick due to diabetes (high sugar levels, high blood pressure, and dizziness) 2 days prior to her flight she was not able to fly back home. I contacted Trip mate, sent all the forms they needed for the claim, and because the ER dr. did not clearly write all symptoms in the report, especially dizziness, trip-uncompassionate-Mate denied the payment, even after the appeal. I will never buy travel protection again, specially from this company. I DONOT RECOMEND! I'd give it zero stars if I could. :(

We purchased the “ cancel for any reason” insurance and ended up having to cancel just a week before our trip because of a medical emergency with our traveling companion. The claims process seemed intimidating initially, so I called and received good instructions from a representative on how to file online and what documentation to submit.
So I filed online, uploading documents, and received a claim approval within two or three weeks, with the check following about a week later.
I was pleasantly surprised that everything was covered as promised, and the claim was paid out so quickly.

We had to cancel our Viking cruise due to a medical emergency that required immediate treatment. The online claim process was easy to use and we filed all the required documentation. We made one call for assistance and received immediate explanation of a discrepancy in the amount of the check (an error in our claim). The electronic checks we received were easily deposited at our bank and were much better than using postal mail.

We paid for insurance to cancel for any reason, yet, I had to have my dying father sign a form that he was the reason we cancelled. That was very disconcerting to me. I do appreciate after I did complete the lengthy paper work, I was reimbursed by a check for the whole amount. I did experience a bit of difficulty getting TO the echeck to print it out!
