Review of Unlimited Vacation Club — Avoid This Service

Our experience with Unlimited Vacation Club has been deeply disappointing and, in our view, highly misleading. What was presented as a simple and flexible travel opportunity quickly turned into a series of withheld details, contradictory information, and shifting conditions.

During a two-hour presentation in January 2025, we were offered a travel certificate as an alternative to becoming full members. We initially declined because we had no intention of traveling in 2025. The sales representative then assured us — clearly and repeatedly — that we would have two full years to use the certificate. Based on that assurance, we accepted.

What we were not told is that we had only five days to cancel the certificate. We discovered this fact in November 2025 — far too late to act on it.

Throughout the year, we called multiple times to confirm that the certificate had been activated. Every single time, a different agent told us it was already activated and that everything was fine.

Last week, we finally learned the truth:

The certificate was never activated.

We must travel before January 2026 or the certificate becomes invalid — not the two years we were promised.

New conditions were added, including a required 2-to-4-hour sales presentation to join Unlimited Vacation Club.

We have been calling repeatedly to request a refund, but we are still waiting for a resolution.

After reading other travelers’ reviews, it is clear that our experience is not unique. The pattern is consistent: crucial information withheld, inconsistent answers from staff, and conditions that change over time.

Our strong recommendation: avoid Unlimited Vacation Club.
If you do not want to deal with misleading sales tactics, unclear terms, or unexpected obligations, do not get involved with this program. The risk of being trapped in a situation you did not agree to is simply too high.

My wife and I went to Cancun July 30-August 5, 2025, for a short vacation. We stayed at Hyatt Vivid Grand Island and were greeted by a friendly staff the day we arrived. They told us they had other properties in Cancun and would like to show us some. We were assured this was nothing like a time share, so we agreed to go they said they'd give us breakfast and show us around.
After breakfast they wanted to tell us about other locations they have around the world. They escorted us to a high-pressured sales room to join with other victims. They started the sales pitch and because of my confidence in Hyatt organization we agreed to hear the presentation. I told the presenter I was 85 years old and had no plans for long term travel, he said no problem you can transfer this to your children. We were sold a 20-year travel package with flyback. Because of our confidence in Hyatt organization and the fact we could transfer to our children we listened. We told them we planned to travel to Greece in 2026, and they said great because they have properties there and we'd save 25% with them. He said the cost for the 20-year period was $20,000, we could make payments, but we decided to pay it all up front.
When we left there, we realized we were too old to buy into this program but because we could transfer it to our children maybe it was a good deal. The following day we got a call from Unlimited Vacation Club we needed to sign a 5-year contract for flyback. I told them I wouldn't sign anything until I got home and had a chance to read it and that we were promised flyback for our 20-year contract. The following day we got an email that our flyback was voided for failure to sign. At this time, I realized it was a scam. Our trip to Cancun was all inclusive but we were denied access to some of the things we already paid for. The truth of the matter is we were disappointed after the first day because of how we were treated.
After we arrived back in Noth Carolina we heard from I-JVC and were told our package only covered Central America not anywhere in the world like we were told. They agreed to upgrade us for extra money to include Europe which we declined. We were told nothing but lies from IJVC and bought this package because of our confidence in Hyatt Hotels, which is affiliated with them.
We will not recommend anyone to stay at the Hyatt Hotel and not only were we treated poorly during the last few days of our trip, but Hyatt is also just as much involved in this scam as Unlimited Vacation Club.
We paid for our all-inclusive stay at Hyatt Grand Vivid and gave a $20,000 tip. I hope others don't get conned like we did. Hyatt Hotel and Unlimited Vacation Club are nothing but scammers, BUYER BEWARE!

This business is fraudulent, they try to get you to sign fast and promise things they will not keep. They lie about having discounts and basically you can get flights and hotels for either the same price or cheaper some where else.

We're glad we are a member. You just need to know how to use your membership. We have been members since 2014 and refer friends through unlimited sharing, and we were able to get free nights

This unlimited vacation club is a total scam. We were brainwashed in Hyatts dreams tulum and spa resort near tulum city. We paid 4500 us dollars for a 20 year membership because of their promises to give us 14 free nights at any Hyatt resorts around the world plus a bunch of discounts on flights, ship cruises, you name it… and we fell in like kids when offered candy. On our way back to our hotel after discussing for 2 hours how heavy the over 600 monthly membership payments were gonna be we decided to cancel within the 5 days that supposedly they allow you to cancel. We couldn’t cancel over the phone or online so we drove back another 2 hours to the resort only to find out that they robbed us. Obviously we didn’t read the entire 500 page contract that they give you and in some page with very little letters it said that if we cancel we wouldn’t get a penny in return and after they saw us very frustrated they offered us another scam deal with the same 14 free nights and 300 monthly payments which we didn’t have any other choice but to accept. That was our last day in Cancun. After 2 weeks and to try to recover some of the money that they got from us, I called a number that they gave us to get our free nights and the guy that answered was very rude he said that after we pay to stay at any of their resorts for several times they would give as a free night and that if we wanted all the 14 free nights we would have to pay the entire over 20k membership. That’s when I lost any hope of getting anything that we paid back. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU GO TO CANCUN. These scammers are waiting at the airport for anyone from another country that they think that they can afford to pay for something like this only to steal their money. Anything that sounds too good to be true it’s a scam. We decided to change our credit cards to avoid these people to continue robbing us cause they involve you in automatic payments that they take directly from your card. Be careful specially people that work really hard like us to save money for a nice vacation and then see our hard working money being gone like this. I hope this review helps other travelers to avoid getting scammed.

They sold me a $750 certificate for a future vacation. They lied and told me I had 18 months to take a vacation. When I called to book they said my certificate is expired. A TOTAL SCAM!!!

A SCAM! High pressure sales tactics that are misleading about the benefits that you will receive. I spent so much money and will never reach a break even point. I was informed by customer service today that my free Premier nights are considered an incentive and are not guaranteed at the rate they were when I signed the contract. What I thought was going to be 7 free nights is now going to be 2 for 1 so I’ll only get 3.5 nights. NEVER should anyone buy into a vacation club.

Straight up told sales person that I wasnt buying a membership but if they had a vacation pacakge that would cover our trip to tokyo that we had planned later in the year we would consider it. Spoiler alert...they have 0 properties in tokyo. After many phone calls, different things told to me by different representatives, managers avoiding me a non existent quality control number.....i opened a dispute with my cc company. As it stands it just looks like we r out 6k. do not give these ppl ur money

Misleading, Overpriced, and Unusable Membership – Buyer Beware

We purchased a UVC membership in early 2024 after being promised exclusive discounts, $500 flight credits, VIP nights, and premium service. In reality, none of these benefits are delivered as described:

The flight credits are worthless — their “partner” charges inflated fares and has very limited airport options, so the $500 doesn’t even begin to offset the higher costs.

Promised discounts don’t exist — public travel sites like Expedia or Booking.com often show the same or cheaper prices than UVC’s “member rates.”

VIP nights and perks are nearly impossible to use due to blackout dates and restrictions.

We even had to pay an extra fee for adjoining rooms on our first trip, something that should have been included or disclosed upfront.

We spent $25,000+ in good faith and after months of trying to make the membership work, it’s clear this was misrepresentation and deceptive sales. When we complained, UVC offered no refund and only deflected, insisting the contract terms were clear.

This program is predatory. I would strongly warn others not to fall into the same trap we did. We are now filing disputes and complaints with the FTC, CFPB, BBB, and PROFECO.

The hotels are beautiful but the packages are not worth it. They mislead us when we purchased. We advised that we want to be able to do all inclusive with flight and hotel included with departure from Toronto. They advised that we just had to call in and they would book everything and that there are flights from Toronto Canada. Guess what there are no flights from Canada so they lied for a sale. When I complained they said they couldn’t do anything about it. The cost of booking hotel only and US conversion to Canadian is the same price that I paid for all inclusive flight and hotel together.

Don't do it, its lies after lies

I wish I had never signed up for this program. My recent stay at Secrets Puerto Vallarta was a disaster from start to finish, and the response from the company was essentially, “Oh well.”

I had booked a ground-level room and received confirmation. Upon arrival, I was told they didn’t have to honor that reservation because “no rooms are guaranteed.” If that’s the case, why even bother letting guests choose a room?

I also wasn’t informed that the main pool was under renovation. Every morning at 6 AM, we were woken up by loud jackhammering. Dust filled the air, landing on our drinks, food, and all over us — making it unpleasant and unhealthy to breathe. This was not the relaxing vacation we paid for.

When I wrote a detailed email outlining these issues, the “compensation” offered was a free night — but only at this same resort, which I will never return to. They insisted only the specific resort could offer further compensation, even though I pay UVC to book at any Secrets location. This makes absolutely no sense and feels like a scam.

Between the misleading booking process, the lack of transparency about major renovations, and the complete disregard for guest satisfaction, I cannot recommend Secrets Puerto Vallarta or UVC to anyone.

In an attempt to commemorate our anniversary, my family and I chose to stay at Breathless Punta Cana. However, our experience was far from satisfactory, leading us to make a decision to change hotels. We relocated to Secrets, which is situated adjacent to Breathless. The culinary offerings and beverages at Breathless were of exceptionally poor quality, to the extent that I would not even consume them myself. Furthermore, the unprofessionalism and dishonesty exhibited by the staff were appalling. The UVC workers were equally unbelievable in their behavior. Despite our efforts to obtain a refund, the hotel has consistently denied our request. Two UVC employees have assured us that we will receive our money back and the nights we were not able to use. Unfortunately, our ordeal has persisted since July 3rd.

High pressure sales tactics - pushing for any level of money possible promising a free stay that we never received.
Fear mongering "if you stop or cancel your membership, you can not be a member ever again".
Lies - we did not save money by being a member.
Criminal acts - I was offered an extension on my free week stay because we suffered a devasting hurricane losing everything we own but when I called back to book they claimed it was not extended and the person who approved it suddenly did not work there anymore.

There was no issue until I tried to cancel and was put through a 3 month game of back and forth. At that time I called into Hyatt corporate to try and get some assistance. Never ever sign with this company.

I had a been a long time member, paid for my membership in full years ago - but not having used them I decided not to renew the contract. I have sent numerous emails, spoke to at least (4) customer service reps telling them that I cancelled - and today I get an email saying I need to sign a cancel agreement and they want to charge me a renewal fee. Stay away from this company - worst than a time share

There should be a zero star rating! Nothing but lies, please don't fall for this scam. They promise you the world free this and that until you try and book and nothing exists! Shame on all the organizations involved in taking people's money and how they are still allowed to operate.

I’ve had nothing but frustration with this timeshare company. I’ve been trying to cancel my agreement, but they seem to be ignoring me completely. I’ve reached out multiple times, but they just won’t communicate with me. I don’t know if this is intentional or just poor customer service, but it’s incredibly frustrating.

If you value clear communication and good service, I’d strongly advise against getting involved with this company. It feels like once they have your money, they stop caring. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

One year ago I became a member, $15,000 later I try to plan a vacation and Expedia was cheaper. Same hotel,6 nights all inclusive. If you're a workingman like myself, stay far away from this ripe-off. they are professional con artist.
Never ever I will book an other vacation with the HYATT HOTEL. Criminals at it's best
