Only able to get 2 out of 3 paint chips I needed so sorry only 4 not 5 stars

I purchased some valspar paint in store last Saturday.
I brought 3 tins of different coloured paint, one for my sons room another for my daughters room and one for the lounge.
I am extremely disappointed in the paint I have used so far.
After spending my whole week off painting there rooms, I can honestly say I wish I never bothered.
I painted my sons room first and then my daughters room, I’m currently on my 3 coat and the room is patchy, I even went and brought a fresh roller and it is still patchy.
I have now run out of paint and patience as this is just the worst thing ever, in between each coat I waited 24 hours. In my whole life I have not experienced such awful paint, it’s not even cheap.
We brought 3 as it was 3 for 2 offer on and I’m not even going to bother painting the lounge with this awful paint.stay clear people, I just wish I read the reviews before purchasing.
I have also emailed b and q and I have yet not received a email back, this was 4 days ago, terrible customer service.

The assistant had several suggestions and used visuals as well as tsking on board what I had said about the space which was great.

Have never used valspar paint before but thought I would try their WhatsApp colour consultation. Divine recommended some colours which I then purchased from b & q - much bolder colour than I would normally go for and I absolutely love it - my bathroom has gone from looking cold to warm and cosy. So impressed with the paint that I have already bought paint to do my kitchen.

Very helpful. Listened to all my concerns regarding the colours of my cupboards, floor and worktop. Spot on with the colours that were suggested.

My wife had some Valspar paint mixed and went for the classic range. We were painting office furniture with it and can honestly say it’s the worst paint I’ve ever used. After sanding and priming the surfaces I thought it would make a great finish, unfortunately we’ve put three coats on the furniture and it scratches and marks incredibly easy like it only has one coat, every time we put a door on or move the furniture it leaves a mark or brings the paint off completely back to the primer, we’re constantly touching up where the paint has come off., never again

It was do easy to find my perfect colour!

Hello. I wrote a negative review of Valspar paint in May 2025 and was advised that someone would be in touch to assist and nobody has been. I never thought to go back and check that review until today when my mum and I were discussing a future paint job and she said " shall we sling that horrible stuff?" Would it be possible to get a refund so that I can buy some sort of topcoat? I can send a picture of the tin when I'm back at my mum's next week. Many thanks.

Bought canyon sand wood and metal paint. Sanded down all areas, primed with zinsser primer. Utter rubbish, paint goes on poor, scratches off when dry. I've painted my kitchen cupboards many times without sanding or primer using rustoleum and never had a problem like this. Utter waste of money. Bought paint for the ceiling and that was rubbish too, took more off as I was rolling. Smeared and I'm on my third coat to try and cover patches. Spent an absolute fortune. Never again! DO NOT BUY VALSPAR PAINT!

I've just painted all the woodwork in my bedroom with Valspar wood & metal paint. It took 4 coats to cover properly. It stayed tacky for 4 days which attracted dust & when I gave it a wipe with a slightly damp sponge to remove it, the paint started to come off.
I've now got to get it all off & start again because despite proper preparation, cleaning with sugar soap & meticulously rubbing down with 120 grit sand paper, it literally just rubs off - as many other reviews have mentioned.
I've decorated my home for 40+ years using dulux and other paints and never had an issue like this. I was particularly fussy preparing surfaces because I'd never used Valspar before.
It's turned the job into a nightmare.

And Valspar, don't waste my time offering to resolve the issue, only to come up with ridiculous excuses like 'you didn't stir the paint' or 'prepare surfaces properly' as you have with other reviewers.
I've decorated my homes for over 40 years without anything like this happening before.
The reason why I've got to sand it all off and start again is the same reason why at the time of writing, 55% of reviews only give your paint one star - and it isn't because none of us know how to decorate, it's because your paint is poor quality and not fit for purpose.

Bought Valspar paint from B&Q for my daughters room, usually go for Dulux but because she picked the colour it had to be mixed. The paint has went on well the issue I have is that my daughter has been complaining of a sore stomach since sleeping in the room after its been painted 2 nights in a row. When we took her out and put her in our room she said her stomach was getting better my concern is the paint fumes are they causing this issue?? Windows were open when painting and closed at night because it was to cold. How long until the smell goes away, I am really concerned that we have spend all this money on paint and its caused this issue

5 testers all came out peach pink of varying intensities. Even though the cards are green/beige toned. Their so called best seller Goose feathers came a pale peach. B&Q staff try and gaslight it's customers into accepting dodgy mixes, Colours do not match the cards at all. A colour match of your own card came out a different shade! Waste of time and money.

Worst paint ever, I’ve used it on a few rooms now and this will be the last time I purchase any Valspar paint. I’m 3 coats in and it’s still not completely covered, it’s very streaky and to top it all it’s now started to bubble in places. I’ve rubbed these areas down which actually took all the paint off back to the previous wall colour. Cleaned the wall properly painted over and bubbles appeared again. In essence, Awful coverage, very thin almost water like consistency, no adhesion properties. Will never ever but again. Don’t make the same mistake. Steer clear.

Went to bnq to get a paint sample mixed. It is an off white colour. Went home and swatche on the wall and it was bright pink! NOTHING like the paint card chip, . I went back to bnq to return, I put the paint on the chip to show them it wasn't the same. As it was "off white" apparently this meant there wasn't any difference - apparently it just doesnt matter. Manager refused refund I was therefore stuck with pink instead of white. If all off whites are exactly the same then why are there dozens of different ones?? The samples are not cheap

As i no longer had a colour i was then forced to pick another off white colour. To be safe i chose one with a much more grey undertone. For some reason that came out pink as well- even the lady who served me said that's not the right colour when she looked at the pot and she wasn't even there during the initial conversation with the manager before I spent ages picking another colour. She immediatelynoticed it was pink. She mixed another batch and same agin.. There must be a problem with the machine, the codes, formulation data details because how can there be so much red shots in a grey paint sample. As mentioned this was also pink. The lady showed me what it was like in the pot before mixing with the colour/pigment shots in. It was white base with massive red shot and could barely see any blue even though its a cool grey.

In addition to this their colour "matches "are absolutely diabolical. Claim to be 99.99+% match to any item, yet the undertones and shades are completely wrong. It like they just mix scan and them pick any random paint in a colour group. Where are the millions of colours they claim?

Nearly £10 down the drain

Don't bother buying from valspar or bnq. I will now be going to wickes and get dulux mix instead

Awful poor quality paint.
I wish I’d seen all these other poor reviews of Valspar paint before using it.
I’m a qualified decorator of 35 years and my customer chose a Valspar colour for her flat so I thought I’d give it a try.
4 coats to cover cream walls, I usually use Dulux trade which would have covered in 2.
So it’s taken an extra days labour and an extra 2 tins of ‘premium’ emulsion.
I really can’t stress how bad this paint is and it’s certainly is not cheap.
Avoid at all costs, I know I will from now on.

Ne l'achetez pas ! Vous allez le regretter. Elle est trop liquide, elle n'accroche pas et elle laisse plein de traces.

Mia was the person I was speaking to, she helped me find the colours I needed & wanted. She offered help and advice on finding testers and paint..

I had really high hopes for this paint, I wanted to re decorate my hallway. I have alot of experience decorating especially painting. I sanded all the wood surfaces primed it all using valspars own wood and metal undercoat primer. I used midsummer's night in premium eggshell. The coverage was brilliant went on well, I applied to coats. A week later I need another coat dye to multiple scuffs and chips. The top of the banister was paticularly scuffed, just from general traffic. In addition to using Valspar on the wood I also used it on the walls in the hallway. Again good coverage however it's been a struggle to keep it on the walls, I brushed my nail over the wall and the paint scrapped off. Any slight knock and it comes off. I've tried everything to stop it but nothing is working. Im going to have to start again with a different brand. I can't spend the next few years touching it up everytime someone walks through the hall or uses the stairs. It's been a total waste of 150 pounds.
