I too googled how to renew my passport and this company came up. I thought I was on the real government sight. Paid $167 and $148 for myself and my husband. Hope they don’t sell my personal info!!

I hired GovAssist for an express US visa renewal service. Their staff lost my initial payment receipt, created multiple DS-160 forms with conflicting information, and ended up blocking my embassy profile.

As a direct result of their negligence, the embassy put my application under a Section 221(g) administrative hold, forcing an in-person interview and ruining my travel plans.

To make matters worse, after acknowledging their service failures and offering a 60% partial refund in writing, they now refuse to issue the payment, claiming their "payment gateway refund window expired" and offering no alternative payment options. Unprofessional and untrustworthy. Avoid this company!

Shame on the Lot of Them! Beware the scam that is govassist.com! Their website mirrors an official government site and you have to pay $198 for forms that the government provides for free. THEN they have the audacity to remind you (in fine print) that you still have to pay the government its rightful fee for a passport. When I fought the fraudulent charge, the scammers still proceeded to send me the passport renewal forms. BTW, I had already paid for and received my official passport from the authorized .gov site. I also received a letter from a crook by the name of Matthew Cole, the so-called Passport Service Manager. He said to call with any questions. I tried for two days, but the phone number and Matthew Cole don't exist. It probably won't do any good, but I will contact the BBB today. I will also change my bank because they paid this fraudulent fee when I explicitly told them it was a scam.

Ordered 2 sets of passport documents for my wife and myself. I had to pay with two separate credit cards because it would not take the same one twice. When I realized there was an additional charge I called to cancel. I was given one refund less $30.00 for shipping but have not received the second refund even though I was promised it nor have I received any packet for my second order. I have spent $148.00 for nothing .

I, too, was scammed by this company. Looked up the owner (Scott Zuckerman) on LinkedIn and messaged him - discovered he's started a second business called Entry.com which does the same thing! Pretends to be renewing your passport - keeps your $! Something needs to be done about this guy!

This company is a total scam. They charge you a hefty fee and deliver absolutely nothing for it. They should be prosecuted.

10 weeks and nothing. 4 weeks of me asking for a refund and finally got a refund at week 11. No explanation of why they couldn’t do what they advertise.

I was robbed over $400 and now I don't know what to do! They have all my information!! I am a solo mama that cannot afford this and now I may have my identify too!

Check the URL. I ended up paying 300.00 more than I would have if I had taken the time to scroll down to the official State Dept passport URL. They printed my application and mailed it with a pen!!!

GovAssist is a total fraud! I applied for renewal passport through them in July 2025, with the understanding that normal processing is 4 - 6 weeks. I started calling the the first week in September. The excuse was, "The government departments dealing with travel documents are on shut down". I called multiple times and got the same answer, and there after, it was "due to the shutdown, they are running behind". By that time it was 3 months later and my credit card company could not dispute the charge.
I still don't havea passport and now have to go in in person to applu for a renewal.
GovAssist is nothing but a bunch of scam artists!
Stay away from them! Run!

I applied for a passport on Jan 8th and it still has not arrived. It's April 12th now. I paid $148 and now they are asking me to pay for another one. I am going to try to dispute this with my credit card company. Not only have they taken my money but they have held up me getting my passport by months.

This is scam and not the real gov website.!!!!! Too slow and hard to get yr money back be careful

Do not use this!!! Go to an actual government site!!! You will pay more than twice as much and they have all your personal information. Total scam!!!!!!!

Absolute scam! They are not affiliated with the government and the true .gov site confirms that no 3rd party agencies are authorized to submit passport renewals on your behalf.

Scam, yes. Collected a fake fee, yes. But the un-nerving part is they have your personal info like your SS number and passport number. This site was passed along to me by an unsuspecting friend and I did not verify. They even have fake answering service that leads you on. I would give it zero star if that was an option. Avoid at all cost.

I feel genuinely shaken by this experience. I searched “U.S. passport renewal” on Google and GovAssist appeared among the first results. The website looks extremely official, and at no clear point upfront did it feel obvious that this was a private third-party service.

I truly believed I was on the official government website. I entered my Social Security number, passport number, and payment information thinking I was completing a routine renewal through the proper channel. Only afterward did I realize this was not a .gov site.

What made this more unsettling is that the entire experience felt automated — AI-driven responses, extremely fast replies, and even phone interactions that did not feel human. It creates the impression of efficiency and legitimacy, but it also raises serious concerns about how sensitive personal data is being handled and protected. At this point, I am genuinely questioning the ethical standards behind this business model.

When you are collecting highly sensitive identity information, clarity and transparency are not optional. The presentation of this service creates real and foreseeable consumer confusion.

I sincerely hope regulators take action to stop companies like this from misleading consumers and exposing them to identity risk.

Total ripoff. The $167 was supposed to be for a passport and passport book. But it does NOT include the $160 fee to the Passorot services. It is their fee to fill out your form and accept your photo. TOTAL RIPOFF!!!

SCAM! I called my credit card company to dispute. Will hope for the best. $149x2. Impersonates a government agency.
