Test drove a car at Silverlakes branch, the car went into limp mode before I even left the dealership. They claimed to have repaired the fault. I returned 2 days later to again drive the car and it was fine. 3 weeks later the fault returned. They instructed me to have it repaired and that they will settle me for this. Then the real problem started, they suddenly ghosted me, refusing my calls and emails and have to date still not reimbursed me.

DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM THIS COMPANY.

Initially asked for a value on my car to be told £24.410 but left it as wasn’t to sure whether to sell constant constant emails even to the point of increasing value to £24.610 . Now I’m no idiot and totally understand that they cannot value a car exactly without actually seeing it and things can change. I then get a call a few hours before my appointment to say the valuation has been dropped to £21.800 not happy that it can drop so much in a week but still attended the appointment. Now I’m told the new valuation is £18.500. I’ve been an engineer for over 40years and have rebuilt cars as a hobby so I don’t say this lightly there is nothing wrong with my car to warrant over 3k more reduction in a few hours . Please please please if you have any other way of selling your car do it IF THEY WOULD JUSY TELL YOU THE TRUTH FROM THE START INSTEAD OF FALSE ENCOURAGEMENT

The vehicle was purchased on 19/09/2026 and delivered/collected on 19/09/2026.

An important part of the circumstances Inam about to explain, is that I confirmed with the WeBuyCars salesperson, Thuso today, who accompanied me during the test drive on 19/09/2026, that there was no engine/check-engine warning light illuminated during that test drive. The vehicle appeared to be operating normally in this respect when I test drove it with him.

However, after taking delivery of the vehicle, the engine/check-engine warning light appeared the very next day. I reported this problem to WeBuyCars the same day, one day after taking delivery.

The other problems reported (I had two independent tests done) include:

● Engine/check-engine warning light.

● Front suspension defects requiring repair.

● Multiple OBD diagnostic fault codes.

● Additional mechanical/electrical faults identified during diagnostic checks.

● Concerns regarding the overall condition and reliability of the vehicle.

I have made repeated attempts to obtain assistance from WeBuyCars and asked them to inspect the vehicle and advise how the defects would be addressed.

Despite WeBuyCars noting that if my independent inspections showed major issues, I could return the vehicle, but with these repeated attempts, WeBuyCars has not provided a satisfactory resolution. My claim has now been dismissed by WeBuyCars, which I dispute. They refuse to inspect the vehicle themselves. I also requested a report of the vehicle which they are not supplying.

I believe the timing of my complaint is particularly important. The check-engine warning light was not present during my test drive with WeBuyCars’ salesperson, Thuso, but appeared after I took delivery, and I notified WeBuyCars of the problem the same day.

Today at 07:36 your truck no. 007 with registration no. KL 33 MB GP was speeding in the rainy conditions WITHOUT ANY working lights, especially NO brake lights.

The driver did not use the hazards button or indicator whilst driving on Old Jhb road south, then he got on to the N1 highway and turned off on the N14 Krugersdorp highway, speeding and endangering the lives of other law-abiding road users with vehicles in full working condition.

I will be reporting the truck to TMPD to ensure WeBuyCars acts and acknowledges the reckless behaviour.

Webuycars Emalahleni has terrible customer service. The car that I purchased broke down within 30 minutes of leaving Webuycars. It was still during business hours and Randy M. and his manager offered no assistance because the car was no longer in the neighborhood. They are more concerned about a car sell than good customer service. I purchase cars often and will never buy from there again. I think it's time for Webuycars to address these type of operations. Customer service is part of the job, perhaps they need more training. Johan who is new also doesn't know what to do when it comes to handling customer info, he let us drive 2 hours without even checking the status of the car prior to all of this with Randy M.

Webuycars Silver Lake took a R5000 deposit from me on Sunday the 13th of September.
Contacted them the very next day the 14th of September. And they are refusing to refund my deposit because I don’t want to buy the car anymore. Tshepo was the sales person

Terrible company. The car was more dirty the next day I went to collect it. Looked great on purchase day but collection day was dirty. They could at least clean the car before handing it over.

I have received no support regarding my car breaking down within 6months of purchase and now they not calling me back. I regret buying from webuycars the service is putrid. This is so disappointing!!!

I have asked to speak to a manager numerous times and nobody called me back.

The car is at the workshop as they requested with a quote sent and they are not approving the work to be done. My mother has stage 4 cancer and needs to be at hospital and i cannot take her so she is missing appointments after i have escalated this on sunday 6/8/26 its now 10/8/26 with no resolution.

I wish i never bought a car from you guys. We buys cars are the worst!!!! Do not buy a car from them ever!!!

We Buy Cars scams the damn out of people. These sales agents just says sign, sign, sign and damn sign. I was told if I do not take out the protection plan I cannot bring the vehicle back. So I fixed it on my own with my own money. It was never explained that they have to approve a mechanic before you can fix your car. I went to sell the car at them and that is when I was informed that I was supposed to bring the piece of shit back. I was told to still file a dispute and that is when I was informed it had to be within 30 days of purchasing the vehicle they can still fix it. None of these issues were mentioned in the DEKRA report when it was read to me by the sales agents. He also knew it was my first time buying a car so I wouldn’t know what their terms and conditions are. They truly lived up to their reputation of being scammers. I wouldn’t recommend anyone buying from these thieves. I spent R17900 on fixing a damn car I bought without being informed about the issues. Damn SCAMMERS! I wanted to issues inappropriate language but it was flagged because you can only say nice things about these scammers.

Do NOT buy a vehicle from WeBuyCars.

We made the mistake of buying a Certified vehicle from WeBuyCars, expecting that it had been thoroughly inspected and would be free of any major issues. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing from start to finish.

After we had signed all the paperwork and completed the purchase, we were informed that the vehicle had failed a roadworthy inspection due to a fault. To their credit, they did agree to pay for the repair, but this should never have happened in the first place. A "Certified" vehicle should not have undisclosed roadworthy issues.

We then had to wait three extra days for the repair. After that, they informed us that they had ordered the wrong part. We asked if we could collect the vehicle and return later to have the correct part fitted, and they agreed.

The vehicle was sold to us with 66,000 km on the odometer. When we finally collected it, it had 69,000 km. We were never given a satisfactory explanation for why an additional 3,000 km had been added.

We were told the vehicle would be ready for collection at 3:00 pm, but when we arrived, we waited another 2½ hours before it was handed over. Just as we were about to leave, I had to remind them that the vehicle still needed temporary number plates fitted, which caused yet another delay.

To make matters worse, the vehicle had clearly not even been properly cleaned before delivery. The centre console was full of sticky toffees and dirt, which is completely unacceptable for a vehicle being sold as "Certified." It gave the impression that no proper inspection or preparation had been done before handing the vehicle over.

When we got home, we noticed there was a problem with the spare wheel. After removing it, we found that the spare rim was severely damaged, with a broken section that had actually punctured the tyre from the inside.

I immediately contacted Christiaan at WeBuyCars, who asked me to send through a quotation and assured me that they would cover the replacement costs. It has now been over a week, and Supa Quick has still not been paid. Instead of resolving the matter professionally, the communication has become sarcastic, and we are still waiting for the issue to be sorted out.

To make matters even worse, the tyres currently on the vehicle are completely different from the ones shown in the original photos when we viewed the car. It appears that the tyres were changed before delivery, and the replacements are clearly not the same.

Overall, this has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. From undisclosed defects, unexplained mileage, excessive delays, poor vehicle preparation, damaged components, misleading presentation, and unresolved promises, the level of service has been far below what we expected from a company selling "Certified" vehicles.

I cannot recommend buying a vehicle from WeBuyCars based on our experience. If this is their standard for a "Certified" vehicle, I would strongly advise potential buyers to have any vehicle independently inspected before purchasing—or consider buying elsewhere altogether.

I bought an Opel Tigra 2005 cash from Jhb branch during end if June 2026 advertised on al their platforms as well as purchase documentas as a 1.8 Sport, only to find out arriving back in Plettenberg Bay that it is indeed a 1.4 Enjoy. I immediately took the matter up with them and received a concern no.520973 being promised that the matter will be sorted out promptly. I gave them my options i.e. replace it with the correct model in a simular condition or buy one out or compensate me with the lost in value taking model in consideration.
After emails hence and forth they eventually replied that they are prepared to cancel the deal with no compensation. Needles to say I was forced to take the matter to the Ombudsman of Miosa.
I further battled for two weeks for the natis document after receiving notification that it is ready for collection. It is now, today 20 July 2026, apparently despatched, but still waiting for it. At least I received today a notification, after threat that I am going to contact the CEO of We Buy Cars notifying him of this poor service.

**Disappointed with Pricing Discrepancy**

I visited WeBuyCars on **Saturday, 18 July 2026**, after my husband had found a few vehicles online for me to view. He had also spoken to one of the sales consultants the day before. I found a vehicle I liked and proceeded with the purchase. I was aware of and accepted the **R2,400 administration fee**, as I understand this forms part of the purchase process.

When I arrived home, my husband asked how much I had paid. After telling him the purchase price, he was surprised because he had seen on the WeBuyCars website on **Friday evening, 17 July 2026**, that the vehicle's price had been **reduced by R6,000**. Unfortunately, I was charged the full listed price, plus the administration fee.

This came as a huge shock. I immediately contacted the salesperson who assisted me. I want to emphasize that **the salesperson was excellent**—friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. He discussed the matter with his manager, who explained that several vehicle prices had been reduced on Friday night as a once-off promotion and that they reverted to their normal prices on Saturday. I was also told that if I had reserved the vehicle, I could have purchased it at the reduced price.

However, after this conversation, I went back onto the WeBuyCars website to check the other vehicles that had supposedly reverted to their original prices. To my surprise, I found that they were **still being advertised at the reduced prices**. This made the explanation I received difficult to understand and raised concerns that there may have been an issue with the pricing system.

I was ultimately told that there was nothing that could be done.

This is not the first vehicle my family has purchased through WeBuyCars, and we have always received excellent service, which is why this experience has been so disappointing. My concern is not with the salesperson, but with what appears to be a discrepancy between the advertised online price and the price reflected during the purchase process.

I believe this situation deserves to be investigated. If the lower advertised price was genuine and still displayed on the website, I feel I should have been afforded the opportunity to purchase the vehicle at that price. As a loyal customer, I find this experience unacceptable and hope WeBuyCars will review the matter and consider a fair resolution.

If I could give them minus 5 stars I would. I can’t believe that a company as big as WeBuyCars do the stuff they do (by lying and deceiving people) and get away with it. Ive seen so many comments on here that have the same MO and they still get away with doing this to people on a daily basis and the most disheartening thing is that we as the people really have no one to go to, no one to assist us as the MIOSA is just as bad as them. I realise as a used vehicle there will be issues but don’t lie about it on the certificate and specifically state that there are no issues with the engine that will affect the performance of the vehicle and also categorically state that it is roadworthy ready when it wasn’t, now I have to fix all the issues before I can do that which is not going to be cheap. I am so disgusted and appalled with them and will NEVER EVER recommend or use them again, EVER!!!!!!

Bought a boat with a 115hp motor from We Buy Cars. Took it for a service and discovered it's a 100hp. A year later and they have done nothing to assist me. What a disappointment of doing business with such a "big" company.

Please save yourself the hassle of dealing with this morally corrupt company an being ripped off. I moved back from Ireland and needed a car urgently. Because my bank statement only had 6 days transactions on it wasn't enough for proof of residency and Sizwe at Germiston branch told me to transfer the money to my son's account and that way I'll be able to buy the car. The fact that I bought cash and had more than triple the amount of the car in my account meant nothing. This in itself is nonsense, I bought my daughter a car too and at that dealer there were no problems that I paid for it but the paperwork was in her name. Sizwe INSISTED I'd have no problem registering the car in my name. Long story short, I listened to him and now can't get the car on my name. He's sending us on a wild run, again reassuring it will work if my son signed an avidavid about what happened - he had to take off work to do that- and that didn't work either. Every attempt I have to sit in a queue the whole day to be turned away. So now he reckons my son needs to put the car on his name and then on mine. Who's paying for all of that? And who's sitting in queues again? Not him. They charged my R3000 admin and registration fee, for what? So they can now throw their hands up in the air and say sorry but there's nothing they can do about it. This company will lie about anything just to make a sale. Absolute zero integrity. This isn't the first time my family got left with empty promises. They sold insurance to my son for thousands and then had one excuse on top of the other when he had to use it. A bunch of thieves at the Germiston branch, don't trust them. My husband just bought a car cash for just short of 1 mil at a different dealership, even though he found a car at we buy cars that he wanted. And the 2 motorbikes we want to buy is another deal they will not get from us. I'll never deal with this company again.
