I agree with the poor reveiws. I adopted a dog from the shelter and they use 24PetWatch. I registered him the same day and then the rep gave me a spiel on paying $100 to get "extra" care in case my dog is lost. It isn't necessary so I didn't bite. They are not open on the weekends and they never answer their phone during the week. I called Avid where my other dog is registered and switched over to them for both dogs. It was quick and easy and didn't require me to speak to 24hour pet. I will be informing the shelter to switch back to Avid as 24Pet is unreliable.

Horrible company. Literal monsters. They raise your premium ridiculously and make it very difficult to submit a claim and be approved. DO NOT use this service.

Another scam of a company. You adopt or rehome a pet with a chip, but then they won't transfer the ownership to you with a LIVE operator when you pet gets lost. You'll still have access to the online version or via email, but no one is going to call you for a lost pet unless you pay $250 to renew a membership. But the original owners already paid the first time!!! What a scam. If you have a choice about what pet chip to use, do NOT use 24Pet, PetWatch, or Pet Place.

24 Pet Watch, owned by Pethealth Inc operates unethically. Their website has errors that make customers unable to register their pet (dropdowns that don't function on mobile or desktop). Users are forced to call their number. The salespeople are aggressive and intentionally misinform customers about their service tiers. I was only given paid membership options, then told to choose between them. When I politely declined, the saleswoman told me if someone scans a microchip, they will not give them my information. I finally asked "what is the purpose of a microchip?" she still refused to admit someone calling would get my information. It was very manipulative. I don't understand why any reputable company works with them.

This company does not seem honest! First, when I adopted my pet, she had a microchip, and my adoption counselor told me it was all paid for and that I should not have to pay anything else for the chip. I did call the company they used, 24 Pet Watch, so I could log on the website without paying again (so confusing), and was told I have to pay an annual fee of $59.95 to have access or pay $200 today for lifetime access. I didn't know it was padded with training (I have a cat, not a dog; no training is needed), and it comes with recurring fees for Pumpkin and other things I don't need or want. During that phone call, I was told that if I don't pay the additional fees (just to be able to log on to their website and upload photos of my pet), I will not be notified if my pet is found. !! Isn't that the purpose of the company? I have never heard of a third-party microchip company operating like this. Upsell, not being honest, pressure, and both customer service reps I spoke to were unprofessional and skirted around my questions about whether I needed to pay any of this at all. I was also not comfortable giving my credit card number over the phone, but there was no other way to pay. I have such a bad taste in my mouth from this company. I am now "waiting" for a $203 refund and then another charge of $119.95 that doesn't include the training, which I wasn't aware of as part of the first charge. I wish I had researched sooner because I also read that it costs money to update our information if we move, change phone numbers etc. I personally plan to register with Home Again, which I used with multiple cats for years with no issues whatsoever. I don't mind paying a $50 annual fee to a company that answers their phone, is honest, gives immediate website access, connects the finder with the owner, and no upselling. I am just so nervous about working with 24 Pet Watch AKA Pet Place, and wish they didn't have my money!

Predatory practices. They sign you up for all kinds of services with fees and they hid the fact that the basic service is free. I am in the process now of disputing a charge from them that I did not authorize.

I was contacted multiple times and convinced that by purchasing a Lifetime Protection Membership for my dogs' microchips, I would receive coupons that would cover most of the membership fees. However, after purchasing the membership, I found that none of the coupon codes worked. The vendors associated with the coupons do not honor them. I reached out to PetPlace/24petWatch several times for assistance, and each time I was told someone would contact me within 24 hours to resolve the issue, but no one ever did. As a result, I filed a dispute for the charges.

Would give zero starts if I could. Avoid

I paid the lifetime activation fee in June of 2024 for my dogs chip. April of 2026 I get an email stating her chip is inactive. I call the support line and they tell me they don't have any record or confirmation of that payment and if I was unable to provide it, I would have to buy it again. SCAM!!!!

SO complicated! It took me an hour just to figure out where to go to login. And then to find the info...if you don't pay money, it's extremely difficult to use their microchip pet services!

This company utilizes dark patterns to sign consumers up for recurring charges that do not provide any benefits. In addition, I asked them two simple questions: "What exactly do I get in exchange for the $120 I paid to register my cat's microchip? If my cat is lost and someone scans the microchip, will they be provided with my name and contact information?" They did not respond and ended the chat.
I'd be interested in hearing from any CONNECTICUT residents who have had issues with this company.

The only reason they got one star is because I couldn't give zero. Trying to register my two cats microchip transfer online was a complete and utter joke, it never let me get to the site that I needed to get to. So I called the toll free number. At the end after changing the info to my name and address, she starts talking about the fees involved, clearly as I'm looking at a piece of paper that said there is no fee for basic service. When I explained that to her that that's what I wanted to sign up for, she absolutely shamed Me by "well, don't you want us to call you if your pet gets lost ?" So incredulous! After I explained I had $2 in my bank account so probably not, she hung up on me. This is clearly not the company I want to watch over my pet. There's got to be something better out there

Watch out for hidden fees! 'Sal' tried to charge me $119 to update my pet’s microchip, but when I called back, another rep told me it was actually free. Total scam alert.

This company is a total scam. They charged us $135.00 to register a free pet chip. When you register they sneakily register you for pet insurance. The following month when they charged me, i called and complained and requested a refund. They refunded my money within a few days but didn't cancel the insurance. They tried to bill me the following 2 month but i had shut off the card for them and payment fail. On their website, they say you can cancel the pet insurance any time on their website. The only problem is there's no way to do that. This company does nothing but scam you and operates unethically.

Unprofessional, rude, terrible customer service

Adopted from a shelter that gave me the 24PetWatch number to call and verify my contact information for microchip. 24PetWatch rep told me I had to pay a monthly or yearly ($140.51) membership fee to maintain services but did NOT mention that this was optional. Total scam.

I wish I could give this company zero stars. I had to call to register my cat's chip to me and they told me that I had to sign up for lifetime membership...they did not tell me this was optional. I was then signed up for some wellness program for which they were going to charge me $20 a month and thankfully they let me opt out of pet insurance. Also, they tell you that you will get a $25 Petco gift certificate if you buy the membership, BUT you can't get it if you already have a Petco Vital Care membership (you have to sign up for a new one). This company is horribly manipulative and their deceptive practices are disheartening. I'm sorry I ever called them and urge everyone to do your research and know that you ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY ANY MONEY FOR YOUR PET'S CHIP TO BE REGISTERED.

Horrible company. Much better options out there for pet insurance. Do your research.

This is the second pet I have experienced this frustration with. I go online and can't find a spot to do the free registration of the chip and then I end up calling so I can register the chip that the vet put in my furbaby. 24Petwatch customer service person acts like it is some big thing and I have to pay money. We DO NOT NEED TO PAY ANYTHING to get our name and info associated to the chip. Customer beware of these people trying to upsell us!!!
