Started by the Abakhan family in the late forties as a rug weaving business, the first retail outlet opened in Mostyn, North Wales over thirty years ago. As well as a major retail outlet, this site also occupies the head office and distribution operations of Michael Abakhan Ltd and is also a site of considerable local historic interest. The company has taken great care to preserve the old works buildings resulting in the presentation of an award by the Prince of Wales for the sympathetic restoration of the buildings. Still headed by family members, Abakhan has now been trading for almost 60 years, with 9 stores across the North West (North Wales, Manchester, Liverpool, Birkenhead, Bolton, Chester, Hanley, Preston & Shrewsbury). I have been a customer at Mostyn for 30 years, but I can honestly say today was the most disappointing ever.
Ordered food that came wrong & the waitress argued the toss.
All the doors where out of action so my elderly mother had to walk much further than was necessary & then to top it all, the lift was out of action.
The place looked like it was closing down & the staff acted as though they were indifferent whether we shopped or left.
So very sad, but I can't imagine returning to be treated with that attitude.

First time visiting the Liverpool Abakhan store…
Visited the Liverpool Abakhan store today for the first time. I only had a quick visit as my daughter needed to get home, otherwise I could have spent hours and hours there. Well stocked and friendly, helpful staff. I only bought 6 pre-cut pieces today, but there was a lot of choice and great prices. My happy place! Thank you Abakhan.

I have been shopping at Abakhan online for about a decade and have never been disappointed with my purchases.
The website is wonderfully stocked with a treasure trove for anyone with a needle in hand or any crafting in mind. The only problem reining in not to overspend!

Great value, reasonable postage… Abakhan is well worth it.
I used to live locally and shopped many times at Abakhan. I remember the old huts when fabrics was on trestle tables and weighed! Having moved away and now rediscovered enjoyment of crafting, Abakhan was the obvious place for supplies. Great choice and excellent value. Reasonable postage too. I have bought a range of felts and the ranges are great. I prefer to order from Abakhan than shop locally as the range and value for money is far better. My next wish list is growing!

I was very happy with my recent purchase of baby dk yarn. I needed beige or cream and was able to find 3 different shades which was great. the yarn was lovely to knit with. When I have finished the cardigans I will definitely be ordered some more yarn yarn as I knit for several babies.
