Charnwood Machinery Ltd Reviews

No hassle, prompt delivery for spare parts for planer

Great for light use in a small workshop. This is a good alternative to vastly more expensive (and much bigger) professional tables. It’s easy to assemble, exactly as described, does what I need.

I found it difficult to get hold of this essential switch and Charnwoods were the only supplier that I found that stocked it. Price was affordable and delivered very quickly. It meant that we could repair a machine rather than sentance it to the scrap/ recycling heap.

Bought parts for an old wood working lathe which no one else had. Delivered quicker than Amazon. Thanks.

Just what I was looking for, great price fast delivery

No problem ordering. Posted on time and postman delivered on time all round excellent service. Highly recommend Charnwood service 10 stars all the way.

The ordering process was really easy and the delivery arrived on time. Small issue with an email the day after the saying I still had items in my cart but they responded very quickly when I queried it and it got sorted out without any problems.

Great, quick service.

First time electric fence buyer. Cows rubbing our fence and destroying it. Rang for advice, bought recommended items and peace from the cows! Rutlands energiser working fine, accessories all good too. Thank you.

Always good to deal with your company, good products and always good advice, you are the best.

Very good service and product. Easy to order and delivered very promptly.

Helpful on the phone. The correct order arrived promptly.

Great machine
And good service

Good quality and quick delivery

Purchase and delivery quick and trouble free.
However it would be better for potential customers to be given the details re suggested usage with the initial advert. Fortunately it suits my requirements or it would have to go back
Unfortunately the reply from Charnwood is misleading and doesn't address my point.
As per the manual
Expected MAXIMUM ANNUAL USE is 100hrs and short periods of time.
Not what i would class as a hobby This info should be front and centre

Bought November 2023, seduced by the 5 year guarantee, but is it. The electrical parts only have a 1 year guarantee, which I only discovered after purchasing.
After a couple of months it wouldn't start. Found the on/off switch had broken. The cheap and nasty plastic pins all snapped. Then a few months later the machine started making a tremendous rattling noise. The safety bar had come loose and damaged the blades. I asked Charnwood for a return and refund which they refused, only a repair. I tested it when returned, which was OK but didn't use it for a few month's as I had lost faith in it, after two failures with little use.
Several weeks ago I used it successfully where it performed as expected. Then used it again last week, when after 30 mins it tripped out. The MCBs in the workshop and the main board in the house all tripped. After extensive testing by an electrical engineer, found an earth fault on the motor.
I emailed Charnwood CEO, who ignored me. Eventually the technician enquired on my behalf, where they refused any support. I accept it is out of the 1 year guarantee, however given it has had little use over the 15 months, and that it had failed, letting me down for a third time, is poor after sales support. My experience of this company and machine is a poor quality product and poor service.
My guestimate is less than a total of 15 hours run time leaving me with approximately £400 piece of scrap as I have no faith in spending a further £116 on a motor, that may fail out of warranty again, plus the p&p and an electrician to rewire. This has been am expensive lesson and a reason for not purchasing any future Charnwood products. I wish I had seen a review like this as the author would have saved me a lot of money and stress.
Make sure you dig in deep before making a purchase of this value, as I thought I had.

Thanks to Richard for sorting my light out , parts came next day excellent service
