What kind of a demented system do they have? Everything is routed through a chat bot that says it's closed at 5pm even when it's not 5pm. Rendering them uncontactable? and somebody through it was a go... Toon meer

Know one answers the phone. When u r desperate and at your wits end DONT BOTHER CALLING THEM. Ive tried numerous times to no avail. It's leaving me with only one option. HELP.
If I wanted answers from a Google search I can do that myself. Absolutely useless. Get passed onto someone that when they answer the phone sounds thicker than me! Don't waste your time! That's if anyo... Toon meer

The service is totally amazing
The service is totally amazing, they can't do enough to help with all kinds of issues. I can't thank them enough and would recommend anyone to contact them.
First Class.
ABSOLUTELY APPALLING ORGANISATION
Every time I have contacted Citizens Advice have all been an indictment of this organisation. The ways in which they let me down on MULTIPLE OCCASSIONS, including regarding serious issues, has been appalling. They fail in many areas; e.g. giving wrong information, agreeing to send important information on my behalf to an organisation and never sending it; impossible to reach people . . . the list goes on. I STAY AWAY from them because I don't want my life being made more difficult.
Don't waste your time contacting…
Don't waste your time contacting Citizens Advice. I think they should be closed down because they are not what the taxpayers' money is for. I don't know why they exist. They are not impartial, they discriminate, both on health issues and on race. Their attitude and expertise on the issues is 0. We have asked them for help before and they refused. We contacted them now because Scoop, Headway and several other organisations said we should contact them. We asked for help for the following reasons but again they fell on deaf ears.
My husband had a serious accident at work and as a result of the accident he became disabled and unable to work for the rest of his life. A roller shutter warehouse door that was rolled up fell on my husband, weighing over 1000kg, and the support structure broke. The size of the door is about 4x6 m, about 6-7 m high. After that, he was resuscitated several times, and suffered several permanent health injuries.
- he was in a coma after the accident
- permanent brain damage (corpus callosum brain damage, numerous effects)
- permanent spinal injury (his vertebrae were broken and damaged from T4 to T12, nerve damage was diagnosed, and the L5-S1 vertebra was displaced, irritating the nerve)
- several rib fractures on the right and left sides
- permanent shoulder-scapula injury (fracture with splinter)
- bilateral lung collapse
- his spleen was removed
- his kidneys, liver, intestines were damaged
- he contracted sepsis in the hospital
- etc.
After that, we hired a law firm that did not represent my husband's interests, and my husband did not receive the necessary compensation for his injuries, the lawyer denied his permanent health damage, setting them up as an old age disease. My husband would need surgeries, which they could not perform due to emergency surgery after the accident, but the lawyer did not have these performed either, citing:
- the defendant does not allow
He does not receive adequate medical care. We are constantly looking for law firms so that we can file a lawsuit against the former law firm for legal professional negligence, but as soon as the law firms find out which law firm should be sued, they will not take on our case. A lawyer took on our case, then after 16 months withdrew from our case citing the following:
- my husband and I will not go to court due to my husband's brain damage
- we are not English and all documents need to be translated for us
- an interpreter needs to be provided
- our case is very complicated
Unfortunately we are constantly being discriminated against, due to my husband's medical condition and because we are not of English origin.
We currently only have 3 months left for our case to go to court. After that there is nothing we can do.
We currently live in a 3 storey house in which my husband is no longer able to move due to the severe pain and limited mobility caused by his injuries.
After the accident we tried to exchange the house, the answer we got was:
- my husband is not sick enough to exchange the house
Then a few years later, on one occasion they wanted to exchange our house for a house that was also not suitable for us due to my husband's health condition.
What we wanted to ask Citizens Advice for help with:
- Finding a No Win No Fee lawyer
- To exchange our house for a house that is suitable for my husband's health condition
But of course again no help.
Although I did managed to have contact…
Although I did managed to have contact both by phone and email from citizens advice, I am struggling to see how they offer help at all. They advise of basic common sense and think in the 21st century a complaint letter to the company you are reporting will solve all your answers. I reported a company 3 times over a 3 month period for fraudulent activity and have heard nothing back from trading standards, which apparently they are not entitled to do. Again do not see the point of contacting either as you will not get any help. Just another waste of our tax payers money.

I can't thank Lucy enough for all her help. She made our experience so much easier, especially when we were stressed about the move. She went above and beyond, even helping us with things on our phones. We really appreciate her kindness and efficiency. Five stars all the way!
Absolutely awful service
Absolutely awful service, the service I received was slow and an absolute waste of time, the correspondence was mostly by email and the time it took to receive a reply was days and days. The CAB in Picton Road, Liverpool is absolutely awful.
Citizen advice comes good 4 me !
OK well I had previous done a somewhat unfavourable review with reference to Beeston citizen advice but am beginning to believe that perhaps I was impatient and too quick to judge the performance without waiting for a result I have a pending payment for house hold support fund due next week and am on a waiting list for white goods I.e. new washing machine so I would like to say a big thank you for the time and effort put in to helping me and if I knew how would retract my previous review 😀 thanks
Hastings citizens advise
Hastings citizens advice are patronising rude. Extremely unprofessional with sensitive legal documents of extremely personal nature. I still am processing the arrogant patronising comment from one of the volunteers .
Suppressing rogue trader reports
Wouldn’t listen to our report of being victims of rogue trader fraud. Didn’t list it correctly or send to trading standards. Failed to report 13 victims of an undischarged bankrupt with nine county court judgements. Trading standards had 3 complaints then suddenly it was six. Citizens advice are absolutely useless along with trading standards. See today’s WhICH report, unable to post link here

A helpful service, but one with limitations
The advisor I spoke with was patient, empathetic, and took nearly an hour to listen to the details of my case. They demonstrated a clear and immediate grasp of the technical aspects of my problem. This was incredibly validating and made me feel that I had a knowledgeable ally.
The service also provided some useful general guidance which helped confirm the procedural steps I needed to follow. However, as the case progressed to its final stage, the support became less effective. The main issue was that the final advice was based on a superficial reading of an email. It failed to engage with the core, evidence-based points of my problem.
The advice I received seemed to accept a defensive narrative at face value and suggested a path forward that was, in our opinion, strategically flawed and did not reflect the true nature of my case, which is now about systemic maladministration, not just the original issue.
While I believe Citizens Advice Scotland provides a vital and well-intentioned service, and my initial experience was very positive, their support is perhaps best suited for more straightforward cases. For a deeply complex, evidence-heavy case like mine, the final advice lacked the necessary depth and forensic analysis, ultimately leaving me to navigate the most critical strategic decisions on my own. A helpful service, but one with limitations.
Don't value volunteers
I volunteered for 14 years with the Witness Service, most of those under CA. Thames Valley had a manager who made false accusations about volunteers who then went on to resign in disgust at the way they were treated..to date I'm aware of 15 people. CA 'ticked boxes' in the complaints procedure, but refused to acknowledge a problem and investigate. I don't feel that they should be offering advice that they don't adhere to themselves, it doesn't seem ethical.
Thank you
Thank you, Chapeltown office.
As always, great.

The lady I talked to on the phone was amazing, as in other times when I needed help, and others did the same in other times.
bloody useless
They are simply useless in person or on the phone. Really don't waste your time.
bloody useless. the thing ringing in the background are your phones; try picking them up. Face-to-face is no better; if they dont have internet, they can't help. but don't worry; they will give you the black hole citizens advice phone number to call so you can be soothed by plinky music. you will never talk to anybody but the plinky music on a endless repeat is great.
They never answer the phone
On hold for over an hr 3 times and no one ever answers. Absolute joke. Even tired the online chat option and no one ever responds

80% ONE STAR REVIEWS,WE ARE ALL DOOMED IF YOU CANNOT CONTACT CAB,VERY POOR SERVICE.
COUNTRY FINNSHED TWENTY YEARS AGO.
Helpful
No issues at all and quite helpful when I rang. I rang more to report a company to trading standards (see my wonderprice review). I didn't wait long on the phone and the advisor was helpful, and offered me help with the situation. I ultimately turned down the assistance as I am resolving the situation through credit card chargeback.
Originally, I thought it a bit annoying that trading standards funnel your issues through citizens advice. That said I suppose it makes sense, if Citizens Advice are helping resolve the situation, then they can also vet the merits of passing a case onto Trading Standards or not.
⭐TOO MUCH TO CHEW ON⭐
Extremely sad to say, that my visit to the Hawick bureau for help was just so depressing & unbearable that it makes you feel like it's hard to breathe!
I went here desperate for help last week with one of many incredibly stressful problems. After arriving inside & not finding any notices or instructions what to do on arrival, i stood & waited patiently at the closed reception window, where I could see one lady sitting with her back turned, staring at a computer screen & enjoying a nice big apple!
I must have waited around 15 minutes before the lady turned around to look & see me, (but only because she was distracted by another colleague appearing), she then came over to the reception window & proceeded to try to have have an almost impossible conversation with me through the closed window, while music was playing from a player hanging on the wall directly behind my head! I couldn't even hear myself think! never mind trying to hear the lady.
I was already beginning to feel a little more stressed, & after explaining to the lady that i couldn't hear her, she finally came out the office & into the reception area to speak to me face to face, only to be told that "they didn't cover people from my area", Despite the fact that i live in Roxburghshire! & that Hawick is in Roxburghshire! & that their own web page clearly states they cover Roxburghshire! This was so ridiculous, frustrating and the let down just too much to take.
While being in a state of disbelief about being told this, & emphasising that i lived in Roxburghshire, the lady just kept referring me to another bureau out with Roxburghshire & saying that "we cant help", so that was that!
This is all the more unbelievable because i recall years ago walking into their Dundas Street Bureau, all the way up in Edinburgh, (35 miles away), and receiving help with another similar issue without any problem whatsoever regarding not living in the Lothian area!
After walking out in a bewildered, confused, upset & even more depressed state than when i went in, and as this just felt so very wrong, & after starting to wonder about this lack of help for others from this local Bureau, who people in Roxburghshire would no doubt expect support from, i wondered into MP john Lamont office to raise this & see if our local MP had a view, or would be at all concerned to here about this lack of help & support for potentially vulnerable people in the Roxburgh area. Waiting to see if i get any reply on that one, but not so sure it will make much difference even if i do.
I'm incredibly slow at typing & my concentrations very poor at best, so it's taken me all day just to put this review together, time i certainly shouldn't have to feel the need to waste on this, but as instances like this are ridiculously far to common & just add to people's stress unnecessarily, it has to be said & judging by the incredibly low rating this bureau seems to have, it looks like there are many other potentially desperate people also feeling let down by this! Bureau.
I've only just discovered by chance that apparently every one of Scotland's Citizens Advice Bureaus recently received large amounts of funding, apparently being described by them as "a game changer", so surely funding can't be a reason for this sudden restriction of help to the chosen few.
I'm just wondering if citizens advice Hawick rely only wants people from Hawick town walking into their bureau, & maybe everyone else in the Roxburgh area is expected to just go elsewhere for help! Maybe the rest of us are just not deserving or good enough! or maybe the real reason I was refused help was because i just didn't bring them a "nice big red juicy apple to chew on"!
"Unbearable"!
Not helpful at all in fact you might as…
Not helpful at all in fact you might as well help yourself to be honest and, if you have half a brain . Ive been going to the Havant branch and basically it seems that it makes things ten times worse . the last time i had a problem i gave up , i was going there for weeks and weeks and constantly asking for bank statements which in the end all they were interested in is what you got or didnt have . Im shore they take statements home and pass them around . Even now one of the supervisors says they will ask for bank statements what ever problem you have . She always mentions bank statement because she likes to try and make your visit even worse and belittle you . The supervisors name is Racheal and theres another one called Racheal Racket . the time i had problems before i ended up going to Job Centre and seeing an ESA adviser as ide had my benefit stopped .
