Over the past few weeks - Back to the 1990s
Over the past few weeks, my experience with Česká spořitelna has been absolutely absurd. The bank has repeatedly blocked completely ordinary payments of around CZK 6,000, restricted access to my account, and then forced me to visit a branch in person, where I am subjected to so many questions that I almost expect them to ask for my grandmother's birth identification number.
It is 2026, yet this bank's approach feels like a return to the 1990s. Instead of modern and efficient banking, customers are faced with unnecessary bureaucracy, complications, and restrictions on accessing their own money.
In my opinion, branch employees are largely constrained by internal policies and decisions made by the bank's management. Therefore, I do not see this as merely an issue with individual employees, but rather as a fundamental problem with Česká spořitelna's overall policies and attitude towards its customers.
I understand the need for security measures, but there is a fundamental difference between protecting customers and constantly restricting them. A bank should make its customers' lives easier, not make it unnecessarily difficult for them to access their own finances.
For me, this has been a huge disappointment and an approach that simply has no place in modern banking in 2026.
