Focusmate has been a lifesaver for me!! I’ve suffered from crippling task paralysis for years, and this is the only thing that’s pulled me out of it.

The staff is also incredibly kind and eager to help with any issues that may arise. They also respond very quickly, which is a nice breath of fresh air.

I’m beyond grateful for this app/site, and I can’t wait to continue to use it as a tool!

I had undiagnosed ADHD until 24. I'm 27 now and worked quite hard, putting in 10x the amount of effort as the average person to get half the result. I can say with absolute conviction that if I found Focusmate earlier, I would only have to expend a fraction of the effort for 10x the outcome. Hence, I'm overjoyed that I found this service, but also a little sad I didn't find it earlier as it would have made life significantly easier.

ADHD often doesn't just present challenges "starting" but also sustaining focus enough to get into the flow state. So theoretically, I could start but I can't help myself from getting up from my seat 100s of times or browsing random things. The format of focus mate sessions being 25, 50 and 75 minutes, along with setting and reflecting of specific goals, having someone there which prevents you from getting up, all contribute towards preventing my common issues with getting into the flow state. Hence, whenever I start the day not as productive, instead of getting worried about the state of my life, i know I can just book a Focusmate session now and change the course of my day. I can say that I've tried 100s of apps and services in addition to counselling for ADHD/productivity over the years. Focusmate is scientifically well thought-out, which you will find on an article called 'The Science of Focusmate' on their website. As a result, Focusmate comes quite close to actually being medicated for ADHD. I personally had some adverse side effects to medication due to co-morbid issues, owing to which I couldn't continue, so I'm glad to find something that can help so much. I think it would help anyone in various life situations get more out of their day in terms of productivity and satisfaction.

I should note that my positive experience may also be complemented by other strategies I've employed over the years. For instance, this last year I left social media and for a part of it I even switched to a dumb phone. Hence, I've already repaired a great deal of my concentration through several methods like these. Try out and adopt different strategies that work for you. I think what I really love about this app though as someone who had to put so much personal effort is they kind of do a lot of the work for you. So seamless and easy to book sessions.

I know people sometimes talk about the cancellation in sessions, but they do try their best to connect you as soon as possible. I also weirdly feel the intermittent reinforcement nature of that process, where you don't always know if you'll connect with someone, actually makes the app even more addictive. It's what's used regularly in social media, may be unintentional here but what I'm trying to say is that the benefits of this app strongly outweigh any minor inconvenience.

If Focusmate existed when I was in school, I probably would’ve made it to the top of my class. I have been struggling with focus for decades, and it’s been a challenge getting things done on my own especially now that I work from home. Using Focusmate has made such a difference. It keeps me on track and helps me actually finish what I start. The people on there are great too. They’re doing a really good job with this platform. I just wish I had discovered it sooner.

Despite still being relatively new to using FOCUSMATE, from right out of the gate, my experiences are positive and many. Benefits likewise. So much so that I'm looking to upgrade my account from FREE, to their PLUS membership.

This app is a game changer for productivity. I have a really hard time paying attention and the app helps me get soo much done! i usually aim for three 75 minute sessions at the office and it gets me into the zone and hyper focused. This is a game changer app. It provides supper convenient virtual co-working place. I get most of my university assignment done when I am working with another person. Super helpful for people who love working in a group or need working buddy.

Focusmate is a game-changer! I usually get matched with a focus buddy in a matter of minutes and I really love the extra long 75 minute sessions for getting into the zone. All the other similar apps I've tried have too many breaks and I lose my focus really easily, making it hard to get on a roll. The community is lovely too. Everyone I have met so far has been really kind.

Working as a freelancer can be quite lonely sometimes and challenging to be motivated all the time. Focusmate helps me have a structure in my days, making me more productive!

I love this website! I discovered this through a financial therapist collaboration event, where one of the speakers mentioned this website. I love how flexible it is. You can schedule a work session at any time, day, and hour - and Focusmate will schedule something for you as soon as possible with another person. If the other person is unable to make it, I love how quickly it finds a replacement. As someone who is currently unemployed and planning a career pivot, it definitely helped when I struggled to start work by a certain time of the day. And lastly, I love how it's FREE! Highly highly recommend for people who work from home or struggle to get things done.
