⭐ Avoid. Nothing but problems since the day I drove it away.

I bought a car from In Herts Motors on 30 July 2026, and the problems started almost immediately. The car was handed over with so little fuel that it ran out within the first mile, on the way to the petrol station. That set the tone for everything that followed.

Less than a month later, on 23 August, the car lost power on the road with the drivetrain warning on and the engine light flashing. I called the dealership that same day and was told they couldn't help until the Monday. With the car undriveable and in an unsafe spot, I had no choice but to get the AA out. They found a faulty coil pack, and all four spark plugs were completely worn out. Those are basic service items that should have been checked before the car was sold. When I asked In Herts to cover the repair, they refused, and I ended up paying for all of it myself.

Then in September I had to get a split turbo pipe repaired. While the car was in, the mechanic found the timing chain was very noisy and told me not to drive it and to contact the dealer immediately. In Herts' response was that it's "not covered" because their warranty only lasts 1,500 miles, and that "noisy" isn't a fault.

So in under two months I've had a car that ran out of fuel in the first mile, broke down on the road, needed a turbo pipe repair, and now has a timing chain issue that means I can't safely drive it. I rely on this car for work. To date they haven't paid a penny towards any of the repairs.

I'd strongly advise anyone considering buying from In Herts Motors to think twice, get an independent inspection before you buy, and know your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. A 1,500-mile warranty doesn't override them.

Sold my car via motorway, in herts bought it, I was as honest as I could be with the questions asked and the fact the photos took 50 mins instead of the 10 they promised!
When in herts bought it, the sent an inspector round who picked up on a few things I hadn’t which was fair, however for what is approx £600 repairs they tried to knock me down by £1,450 from the sale price! Fair enough the undercarriage was not in as good nick as I thought
Initial offer £1,800 but when I said no a few times finally offer £2390, what really pissed me off what that they said that if they went over that they would have to pay more to motorway, which after a post sale google was a complete lie! The tier limit was £2,500 which I asked for originally! I saw the photos saying there was more issues that I thought but that LIE really pissed me off!

We purchased a vehicle that developed a serious fault within weeks, an electrical issue that caused smoke to come out of the engine area and made it unsafe to drive. Our mechanic said there was risk of fire and confirmed this in writing. Despite this, the dealer repeatedly denied there was a problem and refused to honour our legal right to reject the car under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

We were forced to escalate the matter, provide evidence, and pursue formal action before they finally agreed to issue a full refund. Throughout the process, they attempted to impose conditions that are not supported by law, including asking us to share recovery costs and undergo further inspections.

This was unnecessarily stressful, time-consuming, and avoidable. What should have been a straightforward legal obligation turned into a prolonged dispute.

Be cautious and make sure you understand your rights if buying from this dealer.
