Since I have been on Interpals I have made some very loyal friends. This is for me the greatest achievement that any provider can offer those who entrust their messages to their service. I am glad that I have found Interpals and I use it every day.

Signed up yesterday deleted my account yesterday after reading these terrible reviews. I want no part of this site after reading some of these stories my god how bad can people be.

Update, see interpals seem to want this review removed, why with the games? Spend more time sorting your sites problems out. Ridiculous.

After being a member at shady site I didn’t meet anybody interesting to be a pen pal. Way back the site was full of ads misrepresenting themselves. The penpals usually didn’t answer upon showing interest. Should the poster answer they write one liners and disappear.
Upon receiving messages, the profiles usually were precisely somebody that I wasn’t looking for in my profile like Africans and men.
The shady site has evolved into a lurking ground for crazy men pretending to be attractive women. The write weird one line like messages and then usually are deleted and change their name and come back.

It's an APP with enormous potential: it even allows you to find people based on the city they live in and talk to anyone without the usual restriction that if you don't study their language you can't even see their profiles. But there's a big BUT, it's full of shitty people and scammers. Scammers, okay we all know them but shitty people are someone who for no particular reason, JUST because they don't think like you, blocks you and then REPORTS you and automatically 10 minutes later the site bot deletes your profile even if you have expressed a democratic opinion towards a person.
Reports should ONLY be considered if they are truly well-founded and not if two people disagree and the other reports it if they think something is not so... otherwise at this point the site managers would say what can rightly be talked about and how!
So if you frequent this site, NEVER speak badly of anything: just idle talk, false compliments, false smiles, and above all, don't invest in language learning because NO ONE will really help you and no one really wants to learn anything. A total waste of time. The site doesn't provide any integration activities, please let people study, no games, no translator...just a miserable chat where if you say something wrong the other person reports you and goodbye profile.
Case studies of people found on interpals:
-scammers, scammers, and more scammers...50% of profiles are fake. It's run by Africans or Indians posing as attractive women and pushing you into cryptocurrency scams, a real hell (especially if you have to study Chinese!).
-psychopaths who, if you don't think like them, report you
-narcissists who want compliments but at the same time don't want them.
-lazy, bored, depressed people, unsure of what they should do with their life..an endless outburst.
An app that could be awesome managed like shit

I previously posted a review on here but I felt as though I needed to update it so here it is:

This may genuinely be the worst app I ever had like literally ever HOLY ****!!! Where to even begin with this? Well firstly it's just full of creepy incel men looking to sext women and if you're a decent looking guy you basically get this same sort of behavior directed at you from women mostly from Indonesia, China, and Russia because they probably want to wh*re themselves around in hopes of getting a green card to the US or whatever. If you're not the best as far as looks go and you're a guy well then you probably won't get texted at all or get a reply when you try to genuinely practice a language or talk or whatever your goal is at all, aside from the countless spammers and scam bots that seem to rule this place and flood your inbox with nonsense.

There was also a fat Korean man who openly admitted to being sexually attracted to children and when I reported him they did NOTHING!!! NOTHING!!!!! IN FACT I ACTUALLY RECEIVED A WARNING FOR "HARASSMENT" OVER IT!!!!!!! Eventually enough people posted about him that he deleted his account in shame because I'm certain it wasn't the useless moderators who took it down but more likely than not he's probably still lurking around on there just with a different and more anonymous account.

In my nearly 2 years on there I only managed to make 3 somewhat decent friends who also had zero desire to actually help me with the languages I was trying to learn. You'll come to find nobody is actually interested in practicing languages and if they say they are it's usually just as a ploy to initiate some sort of romance or to get into your pants. Still, the people I met were just socially awkward and wanted friends so I was alright with that.

Of those 3 friends I made, 2 of them had their accounts banned for no reason then eventually gave up on trying to return. I also had my account banned on 3 different occasions for literally no reason before I lost motivation to even think to make a 4th. The 3rd "friend" I made was an Uzbek-Russian girl who seemed nice at first then basically tried to force me to be in a relationship with her... which I had told her multiple times I had no interest in and then a few months after we stopped communicating, she ended up getting caught in a sting by some online predator catcher after being creepy toward a little kid so I think that just about sums up the experience of this place and the types of individuals that you'll meet on there.

The saddest part is it seems like many people who were on this app as recently ago as 8 years ago had a fairly normal and pleasant experience. It seems to me like the creeps just overran the place and drove everyone good out so now you're just left with this wasteland of the worst types of human garbage you'll ever encounter. Just blow the entire thing up and start again at this point.

When you report inderaged accounts but then you get a warning for false statements.

Why don't staff look at the text on people's accounts.

Also, nit lgbtq friendly as jo option for trans or gay.

I've had my interpals account for about 14 years and I have been genuinely happy with it and it really means so much to me. I've met so many great people and some I've met and others I'm on a letter exchange level with now.
Yes, the site crashes once in a while and there are a lot of strange people in there, but you can just decide to ignore them and most of the time they stop contacting you.

But yesterday my account suddenly got suspended which broke my heart. I've written an appeal, contacted support and the person I was talking to when it happened has even written interpals.net as well.
But so far nothing has happened other than a bunch of auto replies..
It would really be helpful if you knew your case was gonna be handled or if you received a timeline of how long you have to wait until you can expect a response.
Also, no information if the suspension is temporary or permanent or if there is any chance of ever getting it back.. 14 years just lost..

This site is sucks, they blocked my account for 7 days without a reason but scammers are doing well there. There are people who just looking for money or marriage besides there are a lot of muslims who knowing them I am not interested. After they unblock my account I deleted it.
It's stupid site, you cant meet there normal people, most of them after writing few messages suddenly delete their accounts. It's a wasting a time.

This site is complete trash. Most users there are only looking for flirting, sexting and other indecent stuff. If you want to practise your language skills you'll be very disappointed. Plus it is totally infested with AI bots these days. They will ask you thousands of questions as if they were doing some kind of data harvesting for God knows what reason. Also there are countless scammers who only seem to be interested in your financial situation. First thing they ask you is what your occupation is and how much money you make. Been there for so long and it is constantly going to dogs. Won't be surprised if they eventually shut it down.

This websites okay,but it's glitchy sometimes

L’app diciamo che é carina, ma da un giorno all’altro sospendono il profilo senza aver fatto niente. Poi li cerco di contattare e nemmeno una risposta. Peccato perché come app sarebbe stata da 4 stelle ma come organizzazione e per contattarli gli darei un -100 stelle

Ich kann diese Plattform absolut nicht empfehlen. Ich wurde auf InterPals beleidigt und von Profilen (unter anderem aus Kenia) massiv nach Geld angebettelt. Anstatt die ehrlichen Nutzer zu schützen, hat man das Gefühl, dass hier Betrüger freie Hand haben. Der Support greift nicht konsequent durch. Ich habe mein Konto aus diesem Grund komplett gelöscht. Seid bitte alle vorsichtig und meidet diese Seite zu eurem eigenen Schutz!

Nachtrag: InterPals hat die Löschung blockiert und mich mit manipulativen Abfragen zum Bleiben gedrängt. Viele Plattformen nutzen solche Hürden, um ihre Nutzerzahlen künstlich hochzuhalten. Ich muss jetzt den rechtlichen Weg gehen. Nach europäischem Recht (DSGVO Artikel 7 Absatz 3) muss der Widerruf einer Einwilligung – also das Löschen eines Kontos – genauso einfach sein wie die Anmeldung. Wenn InterPals die Anmeldung mit einem Klick erlaubt, die Löschung aber blockiert, verstoßen sie direkt gegen geltendes Recht. Ich habe dem Portal eine Frist von 7 Tagen gesetzt. Danach werde ich bei den europäischen Datenschutzbehörden eine offizielle Beschwerde bezüglich der nicht vorschriftsmäßigen Löschverfahrens einreichen.

Nachtrag zur Antwort von InterPals:
Ihre Antwort geht komplett an der Realität vorbei. Ich habe mehrfach Profile gemeldet – passiert ist absolut gar nichts. Stattdessen prasselten im Sekundentakt Nachrichten ein, bis hin zu aggressiven Beleidigungen und Forderungen von Nutzern (u. a. ein Vorfall, bei dem ein Nutzer nach einer Ablehnung wütend wurde). Ihr System schützt die ehrlichen Nutzer eben nicht.

Was Sie in Ihrer Antwort zudem komplett verschweigen, ist mein Hauptvorwurf: die rechtswidrige Blockade der Kontolöschung. Da Sie auf meine Fristsetzung nicht reagiert und mein Konto nicht ordnungsgemäß gelöscht haben, habe ich wie angekündigt am 01.07.2026 eine offizielle Beschwerde bei den europäischen Datenschutzbehörden wegen des Verstoßes gegen Artikel 7 Absatz 3 DSGVO eingereicht. Die Behörden werden diesen Fall nun prüfen.

I am very sad to have to write this. Interpals was once a great site for communications and friendships across the world. They have upgraded recently their systems and now it is very unfair. I've had two profiles suddenly suspended and deleted, where I can no longer access them at all. The only message given is "our automated systems," implying the use of artificial intelligence. Clearly it is removing the wrong profiles/users. The time taken by good people like me to foster and grow friendships is thrown away by this disgusting and brutal approach. I was a victim of many bad users I had to weed through, the kind that proposed sex or asked for visas/money. I survived all this but then I am the one getting cancelled? It is incredibly unfair. I urge everyone to not use this site. I know other users are also experiencing the same difficulties and unfairness as me. I read it on their profiles and even discussed it with some. I have complained to the better business bureau about this. I will keep on elevating the matter. I have plenty of time and many resources to draw upon. I complained to interpals and they totally ignored me.

I would give it a zero if I could! A complete and total waste of time and effort and energy! Do not bother! I was constantly bombarded with scammers and IF I actually found a "normal" person to chat with, the conversation usually lasted with 3 or 4 exchanges and poof---ghosted! No rhyme or reason--just radio silence! So my thought process is that even if you manage to reach someone who is not a scammer, they are either too lazy or to stupid to follow through or to put a coherent sentence together. The best thing I did was to delete my account!

Twice now i have tried to set up an account again, and twice it has been suspended for no reason at all. They say 'suspicious activity' but i created an account and then sent a couple of messages, literally suspending accounts for doing exactly what the app is meant to be used for!

Save yourself the bother because if you do start to make any friends or speak to anyone you could just lose touch with them in an instant because these idiots decide they want to get rid of your account!

Awful site. Full of scammers and the bots will delete your profile for virtually no apparent reason Give it a miss!

interpals have suspended my 14 years old account suddenly without any reason. have lost photo albums of my world tour, 40 countries. I have written many emails requestingt to give my account back for all those thousand pictures that i will never have. but interpals never have replied. I have lost all those photos, friends and 14 years memories. Such a trash and irresponsible site!!
