The site is filled with romance scammers and generally rude people. They never take action.
Then they suddenly ban you without telling you why, when you email to inquire which rules were broken they never even reply. Because none were actually broken and they don't admit to making a mistake. I see a lot of complaints here that they don't ban female accounts, but I am one and I was banned without even knowing why. None of the men who sexually harassed me was, though.

The accounts aren't properly deleted either, and you can't sign up with a new one even years later, even with a new email adress.

EDIT: 3 years later, they find it fit to reply here on trustpilot with an AI response, but not to my appeal email asking what happened.
Automated software apparently bans people with no human review? Then who coded the software? And why is there no automated email stating the supposed reason I got banned in the first place? The appeal option is useless when no human actually checks it, but instead sends the humans to search the internet for year old site reviews and make them copypaste AI slop.

And no, the men who sent me explicit messages never got banned, my friend sent me screenshots from the same guys the following week with hilarious comments like "wasn't he harassing you last week?".

But I found some unreplied message numbers in my inbox. However, I am not giving you my phone number.

Just horrible I tried to make a new account again and after less than 2 hours only, they banned me really like a face discrimination with is illegal, of course no reply except a stupid bot answer ! And of course all fakes scams perverts islamists pedophiles snd all other crooks and 💩 are still online without any problem! I even made an account to prevent all normal users snd suggest them to Leave this fu… site quickly to keep safe

Please be aware. The problem with writing reviews is that we often don't check the review until we have had a bad experience. It's too late then. Something strange is going on with this site. I went to the delete profile page to delete my account. I discovered that accounts are never actually deleted. It is moreso, deactivate. You just log back in and all your information is still still there just waiting for you. Your pics, your messages, essentially all activity is as I f you never left. There should be someway to take legal action, but who knows what is in their terms of agreement. The other strange thing I notice is once I logged backed on I started getting messages from seemingly friendly females (I'm female) asking if I would want to be penpals. They were from Ukraine and Russia. One asked me what I think about the war. The other talked about how things are in Ukraine. I don't think they are real people. Various sources on the Internet stated the owner of the website is from the USA with ties to Russia. In my humble opinion my profile is being used to gauge what the average American thinks about the war. It may sound like a conspiracy, but this all was too coincidental for me. I'm going to see what I can do legally to get my account permanently removed.

This site took a complete nosedive. I was a very frequent user of interpals 6-7 years ago and back then the site was awesome and I found a lot of cool people that eventually became friends. I‘m still in touch with a lot of them today. After all these years I decided to visit Interpals again and it’s definitely not the same anymore. The site is infested with scammers and fake profiles and apparently Interpals doen’t really care anymore. It’s really hard to find genuine people on there anymore. This site used to be the perfect way of connecting with people from around the world. Nowadays I honestly would stay far far away from it. It’s a shame, but I guess that what happens when website owners do not care about their website anymore.

The app is trash, but I met Kamila here and we're doing a motorcycle trip together. 5 stars.

English: No-one responds, which means either no-one is serious about corresponding, and/or the number of fake profiles is staggering... Don't get me started on the Chinese bots that keep harassing me with spam - the ONLY communication I've received, to-date.

I've communicated the spam issue to the admins, and never received a response.

Low quality service, full of scammers. Do not go there, do not fall for it. You will not find pen pals, language exchange, tourist guides. All you will find is scammers. There are no administrators and moderators to verify users, or if there are moderators and administrators, they are most incapable to sift away scammers and maintain their platform usable for meaningful purpose.

È un applicazione che ti permette di conoscere persone in tutto il mondo ma purtroppo la maggior parte dei profili sono falsi. Contattata da un coreano che aveva visionato il mio profilo abbiamo cominciato a scambiarci messaggi ma facendo la ricerca attraverso Google ricerca foto ho scoperto che sia il nome e altre informazioni erano false. Quindi ho eliminato il profilo, non ne vale la pena.

I registered yesterday. Today I get msg from app owner whether my profile photo isn't mine and my localisation was wrong. I asked 'what do you mean loc. wrong' and after that account was blocked in 2 min.
Don't recommend.

I am here on this site in and out. Joined in 2008. Initially back those years, scammers were largely on the loose. They will claim to be from the popular countries easily. Registering using the name of another country was damn easy, but reasonably under control now.

Still there are the Chinese bots, scammers who are into crypto and online investments etc. It’s their era now. There are also people who are on the look out for sponsors.

Aside all this, I have met a lot of genuine people and also in contact with a few outside the site.

However, the site is not for any language exchange and pen palling to its core. Many still use it as a dating site. Receiving responses from users are not that easy. A lot disappear after a couple of messages

Purtroppo tanta gente lo utilizza solamente per truffare, controllate sempre le foto profilo( ho beccato una tizia con la foto profilo di una modella cinese) e attenti a chi spinge la conversazione verso argomenti finanziari.
Vi riporto alcune tentate truffe che ho ricevuto:
- tentativo di farmi guadagnare tantissimo con un suo metodo di investimento
- con la scusa di avere un marito violento che voleva rubargli l'eredità del padre mi ha chiesto se potevo prendere i suoi soldi e tenerli per un po'.
In conclusione l'applicazione è carina non tutti gli account sono falsi e ogni tanto è bello farsi una chiacchierata con qualcuno dall' altra parte del mondo, ma siate molto diffidenti.

As expected, this is not a site to find penpals or anyone to have a two way conversation. It appears to be a site for scammers, bots, the strange and people looking for validation.
At best you might get to ask questions, they will answer but hardly ask you any questions. Then they don't correspond. Nobody is looking to improve their language skills, I can't see how that can work.
All are looking for something but definitely not for a Penpal.
The site is old and clunky and you have to wait a week to delete your account. I would avoid.

La maggior parte dei profili sono fake. App utilizzata per truffare le persone illudendole. Dovrebbero trovare un sistema di conferma d'identità. Peccato perché si potrebbero conoscere persone da tutto il mondo. Non fidatevi. Sono molto abili.

OK at the start but then couldn't log in

This site sucks, my account was deleted for suspicious activity for having fun nor scammed etc, I emailed them, give my opinion, I do NOT recommend this site, there other pen pal sites that you can post your free profiles & no money involved. 1 woman called me a bast**d

Interpals have got as many creeps running it as the do have using it , they are faceless gutless and cowards, its very amateur site , and if you have a problem with somebody you are able to just block them, simple as that, but for some reason the scammers ' of which there are many' run to there so called moderators LOL report you and they delete you account , its supposed to be an adult site , yet Interpals is full of scum bags , but they way it is ran is the worse thing , completely crap site with many pervs and scammers , if you say something untowards on FB you get banned for a week, on Interpals its life , no reason, no explanation just life , still thats the American way , they love long sentances ,

Both the web interface and mobile app have many bugs, on basic things that other applications don't have.

There are of course many scam accounts. You can spot them with common characteristics. A cute (often Asian) woman, languages and countries that don't make a lot of sense, very recent account (even a few hours old), very little description.

What I can't figure out is why they always try to get your telegram or whatsapp number. What do they do with this?

Having said all that, it is an amazing network of people from all countries, and a real chance to make connections. So I use it a lot, despite these issues.

I can't confirm my email address it won't put me through to the site after trying to confirm my email which is correct. It just cuts out and therefore I can't use the site because it keeps saying confirm

I've been on Interpals from 2014 until 2017. There were already loads of scammers at that time, but with just a little bit of common sense you can tell who they are. Ex generals, business men and the like who fall in love with you after 2 or three days, they don't hang about. I had a great time there and only left when I met someone very special there whom I married 2019 after we've chatted several times a day for years and visited each other just as friends (UK/Germany). I chatted on a regular basis with several people all over the world, three of them are now really good friends of both of us. You will need a good knowledge of at least English, otherwise it's not worth the effort. You won't learn any languages there.

Interpals uses "automated system" which have an extensive authority: suspend accounts, send template messages, autodetect keywords, etc...

Actually I am not conviced that any human works there at all in their so called "moderation team".
In case are then AI would be cheaper and capable to the same level to solve nothing but send stupid templates.

So get ready that account gets (randomly?) suspended because of "suspicious activity" and no human review or oversight at all.

Elon Musk did warn us about autosystems: this is what you get.
