After using this website for a long time my account also got suspended for no reason.
According to the Trustpilot ratings, it’s normal to get suspended for no apparent reason. lol

I must say, I haven’t been using the site much recently anyways.
Same applies to friends who I’ve met there. Yes, it was possible to make some (in the past).

Years ago this site was actually really good, it’s all free unlike the other similar services, less fake profiles and many active users.

I used to get like up to 100 views on my profile each day.

Suddenly that number dropped to like 0.
In recent years an excessive amount of fake profiles / scammer profiles came up.
The operators of the site don’t care. They won’t implement something to help reducing the amount of scammer profiles.

That’s the main reason why user numbers decline.
Another reason is, that the App (you may fire the person who is responsible for this joke of an App) is still not working to this date. It’s buggy and performs not well, even on latest high end devices.
At least it doesn’t crash all the time anymore LOL!

The website looks like it’s pretty much from 1999 and even in 2023 there is no mobile version available (no comment).

Yeah this site is dying and it’s totally deserved.

Operators don’t seem they even care.

They definitely show, that they don’t care about their own user base for sure.

I was using interpals since January and randomly got my account deactivated today with absolutely no reason. Users complain all the time of their accounts being randomly deactivated with nothing they can do to fix it. Some awesome people on the site but it’s rather hard to use(and glitchy) and people are constantly having their accounts randomly deactivated so it’s hard to get to know people. I don’t recommend this site it’s a waste of time and energy.

I’ve been in Interpal for over 10 years. I’ve chatted with a few men, mainly the UK but who knows if they were genuine. Lots of sleazy men whose profile has no photo & no details on their account. A red flag warning. A haven for scammers, thieves, con artists etc. I deleted my account. Too many crooks. A woman I know is being scammed into believing the man she is talking to, is real & he is coming to live with her, she says from a middle eastern country. She is crazy but doesn’t listen to me. She has been scammer before on another website but doesn’t learn.

This site is a very mixed bag. Been registered on it for quite a long time and mostly met scammers and some extremely crazy (in a bad way) people on there.

Add to this the dwindling count of genuine users that aren't bots or scammers, always seeing the same old cats pop up in the profile search and substandard support staff with its weird moderation practices and the site really isn't all that great. If you're completely bored out of your mind and keep browsing you might get some smalltalk out of it (or your heart broken).

I'm glad it's still around and kicking, but you really have to go in with zero expectations from the start.

Addendum: The "revenge reporting" has gotten quite crazy on there as of late - Lots of toxic users abusing the heck out of the report function when something you say rubs them the wrong way, and then the "auto moderation" doesn't even properly review the validity of the report. Nothing you can do, really. The quality of the userbase has suffered a lot in recent years, but this isn't necessarily something the admins themselves are responsible for - Fixing the moderation practices should definitely be a priority in the future, irregardless.

Also, the servers are now acting sometimes very slow and laggy during peak hours, something that didn't really happen much if at all in past years. The site is still good to use just on the face of it, though only if you go in with zero expectations as mentioned above.

Just forget about this site.it is full of scammers.
If you complain, you get banned!
Crap in the extreme.

I liked the site a lot. I have met some great people there. Not ONLY great people, but those with bad intentions were deleted, and for those who are not criminals, but the chemistry doesn't work, there is the Block button. I had no major problems for more than 8 years.
Last summer, my profile was deleted for absolutely no reason. My complaints received no answer or received the same automatically generated message that it was deleted for spamming. Their Facebook profile is not working, and after a while, the site's own online form
I contacted them with the same name, from a different email address too, and I told them the details. Then, suddenly came from their email address a message, from which I will quote certain parts:
"We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the suspension of your Interpals account. Our moderation system has identified your account as having characteristics similar to fake profiles.

To assist us in reactivating your account, please provide the following:

A clear, legible copy of an official ID (such as a state identity card, driver's license, or passport) that displays your name, photo, and country. You may cover any sensitive ID numbers or other personal information.
A recent selfie of yourself holding a piece of paper with the email address of your Interpals account clearly written on it.
Please note that these images will only be used for verification purposes and will be immediately deleted after review."
Now, let us analyze this :
1, My account had no problems for more than 8 years, and my profile was a very detailed one. I spoke about my hobbies and intellectual interests, I listed my taste in movies and books, my albums - viewable for friends only - were full of my photos from my life, and stuff like that. These are not really characteristics of spammer profiles. How many spambots are interested in geopolitics or are reading Hemingway?
2, Now either I am a spammer and then I deserve to have my profile deleted, and even reported to law enforcement with or without my ID ( which can be forged, scammers, but also scambaiters know how ), either I am not a spammer, and then there is no need for my ID. My profile can be restored. I don't see how my ID can be decisive in establishing if I am a spammer or not.
3, I have read on Sitejabber from a user, Zakhary, that his information was leaked by the Interpals on the Dark Web, including his full name and address. I am not doing anything illegal or immoral, but I have no intention to have my complete legal name to be used for scams. From the moment the scammers have a copy of a legit ID, they can fill it with face information.
4, The request coming from the Interpals sounds like an attempt at identity theft and for collecting something called "a trophy". Why do they need a selfie with my email address written when they have it in their database?
5, There is stated that the images will be deleted after verification, but I receive other emails where desperate African businessmen are willing to transfer millions to my account. Why should I trust people who lied about the reason for deleting my account? Especially when the email is not signed by any responsible, just by "Lovelle" and "Interpals Team" ?

I will not provide this data to them, however, I am ready to interact with them on Facebook, Google Meet, and wherever they want. Also, I am not submitting yet a formal complaint on the FBI's site, because I am not sure yet if the request is coming from a lack of professionalism or malicious intentions.
I am asking especially those people who are in my situation - were never sending perverted photos, were never scamming, and did nothing wrong from a legal point of view, but got their profile deleted for no reason - to post if they received similar requests from the Interpals. If they are collecting scans of ID cards, and this is a trend and not the individual action of an irresponsible moderator, legal measures have to be taken.

There are a few things to remember before you enter.
1) This site is basically apolitical and no one cares about your views on Ukraine. You can keep it to private messages.
2) The site is not suitable for people without basic knowledge of foreign languages.
3) You can debate, but your counterpart will not entertain you for long by teaching you the language when there are textbooks.
4) The site is not really for language exchange, but rather for making friends and having conversations in a foreign language.
5) If you want to learn a foreign language, you can easily find a native speaker here and have interesting conversations on any topic.
6)I have made many friends on the site with whom I have chatted for thousands of hours. I have even met some of them in person (in Shanghai).
If you are going to learn a foreign language and use the site for casual conversation, it can really help you improve your foreign language skills.
7) I dare say that thanks to conversations with a few friends, I got HKS5 (the second highest level) in Chinese last year.

The intentions of the app are honourable, which are to learn and practice new languages. And why not, getting to know new people.
The problem is that in the last years, it has gotten worse and worse. Several normal accounts get banned for no reason whatsoever (mine included).
It's full of scammers, fakes, catfishers, visa seekers and thirst traps. Unfortunately all it takes for your account to be suspended is getting a report of spam.
While we get banned thanks to the scammers because we expose them, they are still lurking around.

I had a multi-year account, and today I just found out that it was banned.
I also had another account mainly used to expose fakes and filthy accounts.
Unfortunately the so called "Moderation Team" is really not present at all. They don't view complaints at all, and they don't care about getting rid of all the filth.

Let me tell, I had a good experience on InterPals if you don't consider those people. I also had the chance to meet someone from there, and I kept in touch with some of them. But I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you are a girl. The reason behind this is that you will get spammed by so many thirsty people.

Avoid like the plague, accounts get deleted with no reason given, no warning and absolutely no response from "customer services", to call it that is a joke. Full of scammers and fakes.

Interpals has, from my experience, become a really bad place over the last decade. It is not just the huge number of scammers and asylum (or marriage for immigration purposes) seekers, it is particularly those behind the scenes.

Correspondence is repeatedly interrupted because of automated observation and observation of some alleged "moderators". Their alleged "service crew" doesn't respond to complaints.

A lot of people do shun you on this site, no one bothers being friendly anymore on here. I have only met about 5% of people who are genuine on here and the other 95% were visa seekers, scammers, catfishers or fakes. I don't know how a site like this is still operating with the trash that is on it. This site has gone down hill in the last 10 years. Interpals you need to lift your game

This site isn’t what it used to be. I got my 10 year!! old account suspended for no reason at all. At least no one tells me the reason. I was just browsing and looking for cool people to talk to and suddenly I was forced logged out and can’t log in anymore. Of course no one from their support answers… So, 10 years full of conversation and cool meetings are just gone… But at the same time this site is infested with scammers and fake profiles, but apparently interpals doesn’t care about those. Super, disappointed by this site. Honestly just stay away from this site. It’s definitely not what it used to be.

I had a very succesful experience with many people over the years then today I was reporting a couple of underage users. Mistakenly I thought the minimum age was 16 and I saw at least a couple who said they were 15 so I referred them to moderators, and as a result I got my account, with some very good photography and detailed writing, deleted for, what I feel are unjust causes. It is without doubt, not the site I originally signed up for.

BEWARE my cousin got scammed there!! some Indian jerk living in Germany lied about being in love with her and talked her into sending him very explicit photos (most likely to sell them to a porn site) and then disappeared. As a result she suffered a severe mental breakdown, which took her 3 years to recover from! That ***tard deleted his account but most likely created another one and is still active there!! Avoid by all means these criminals are preying on vulnerable women!!

Had my account suspended for having a sense of humour so made another account and that was suspended within 5 minutes. This site is full of scammers and the moderation team doesn't like people having a view on what's going on in Ukraine with their Russian backers. Much better sites out there like happytalk

Pro Russian site. Banned me several times for simply not wanting to talk to Russians.

Not recommended. I had an account here for years, but when I added the fact that I hosted Ukrainian refugees in my home my account was deleted without notice nor explanation. So what people say about it being pro-Russian may well be true. There are a hell of a lot of scammers there, they contact you daily, and I must have reported dozens to the admins who fairly promptly removed their profiles. With what I did to help, things will only be worse now I am not there (though I say it myself!). I think they have done me a favour, as there are so few genuine people there and I will not be returning.

The negative that was written here about this site is true. I don't know where to start. Unfortunately, a lot of profiles on this site seem to me to be fake. But I suspect that these are not just fake profiles of other people, but that Interpals also creates so-called animation profiles itself in order to fake a larger quantity of profiles.

I've seen some profiles where something is obviously wrong. For example, when it is claimed that one speaks a certain mother tongue, but sentences are written in this language that are so incorrect that they cannot come from a native speaker. Many profiles claim to live in a specific city, but neither speak the official language spoken there nor claim to learn it at all. In some cases, the same profile pictures even appear on different profiles.

A very clear indication that artificial profiles are being constructed here is the fact that the vast majority of profiles no longer log in after the registration date. There is a huge amount of inactive profiles. Although the options for the search and the private settings are very good, what's the point if a lot of fake profiles appear as a result? It is very time-consuming to find the minority of real profiles here, because Interpals is very good at disguising the fake ones. The site doesn't cost anything, but finally it's a time-waster.

When I contacted some fake appearing profiles about some dubious statements described above (such as asking why they don't care about the language of the city they live in) I was banned by Interpals without any warning. Apparently they don't want people there who have seen through the system. Extremely dubious and I will never register there again.

It is a Russian site, full of pro war Russians with no moderation of their aggression or threats. The only other thing you get is scammers from all over the world.

If you are looking for language or cultural exchange, you are wasting your time here.
