Whilst using the message service I was rudely told to have a good day mid conversation , obviously got bored and had something else to do, they seem to have the edge with their collect and deliver service, and they know it!

Brand new Van, clean and delivered/collected for us. company also allowed us to take the vehicle to ireland.

Above and beyond being utterly r@ped for the hire of a death trap. I now find my account has been charged under the "terms and conditions" without authority. Then today I call and some nonce starts giving me the "terms and conditions" spiel. What a shower of c@nts. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I BEG YOU. IF THEY'RE GOING TO STEAL YOUR MONEY, THEY'RE NOT WORTH DEALING WITH. Maybe they're losing business and are not bothered if you are disabled or they loan vehicles that endanger your wife and child. Maybe they're too far up their own alimentary canals to realise.

Supposedly, ‘hired’ a towing vehicle to collect new caravan, and received a cancellation email in the late afternoon - before early morning pick-up - despite checking with a member of staff shortly beforehand to ensure that they had received my e-documents and that all was well

There was no apologetic call to ensure that I had seen their email - so I suppose I was lucky not to have wasted even more time and money driving the 4.5 hours to ‘meet’ the driver, who would not have been there

Their emailed explanation seemed perfunctory and ‘copied and pasted’. I can only conclude that my day’s rental was too smaller a deal for them, and perhaps they had had a more lucrative offer elsewhere

On a more positive note, my fee was reimbursed the next day - but small recompense for my lost time, lost money, and lost confidence in this national firm

Our van was delivered before time stated which was great and chap who delivered was so helpful and friendly was happy to pick up at different location which benefited us both would use again if ever needed

Booked a Van for two days. Van turned up 5.5 hours late, no communication other than one phonecall first thing in the morning telling me it would be late, but no later than 12pm (due 10am), nothing at 12pm, so I called them - they told me 12.30, same thing at 12.30 they told me 1pm, 1pm they told me 1.30pm... You get the idea...
Naturally I complained, and asked for a 50% refund which I thought was more than reasonable as they had missed the whole day - I didn't need the van in the evening, I didn't need it when I was sleeping at night and I had paid three lads £15 p/h to help me move house. Waste of time and money to have them sitting there on their bum waiting to load a van.
The company offered me £24.35 refund for the inconvenience from a c.£300 hire charge.
Terrible experience, terrible communication, terrible after care.

Booked a van for house moving. Vehicle didn't turn up as promised, phoned the company and was told I'd receive a call back only to then receive an email cancelling the van, called back and the guy put the phone down on me. Ended up having to hire another van elsewhere. Very badly let down by nationwide hire UK. Terrible service.

Extremely disappointing experience.

Nationwide took full payment upfront for two vehicle bookings and confirmed the reservations. Approximately one week later, they advised that one of the vehicles was no longer available unless I paid a further amount due to their own availability issue.

When I disputed the additional charge, Nationwide chose to cancel both bookings, despite the bookings already having been confirmed and paid for. I then had the stress and inconvenience of arranging replacement vehicles at short notice for a family holiday.

Following the cancellation, the refund documentation provided did not match the full amount that had been debited from my card, and I have had to pursue repayment of the outstanding balance.

Based on my experience, I would not use this company again.

Super amazing service, super easy to work with, flexible and very convenient as the vehicle is delivered and picked up so you don’t have to organise pick ups, drop offs or added cost of taxis!

We hired a car to attend a funeral as our car packed up. I really wish we hadn't. Don't use this company. You'll be messed about with the car collection. Pick up three working days after the hire finishes, which means four or five days in reality as they try and make the collection run over the weekend. They just use you as free parking and you are still liable for the vehicle. The support desk and the company they use for pick up are totally useless and won't help you. You'll be stuck with a car and have the worry about it being damaged whilst they don't bother to collect. Absolutely awful company.

The service was efficient, polite and on time. The car was an upgrade from what we booked, so we were extra happy. Simple and honest process that works. Will be using again and recommending. Bravo.

Van was due to be dropped off at 1pm on the Monday and collected 8.30am on Friday. We had hired a 6 seater van for an exhibition in another part of the country so we needed it!! I rang at 2pm on Monday to ask where the van was, I was told they would ring me back. They didn't!!! I rang throughout the afternoon and no-one called me back as promised. Then they said if we give you a number you can ring the supplier in your area as they are not answering our calls. Shocked I said ok I'll ring them, which I did and they said "Oh its not us you want it's Assured I'll give you their number". I rang Assured who finally sorted it out. I did then get a phone call from NationwideHire at about 5pm telling me the van was on its way which I already knew at that point because Assured had told me directly!!!
The van did eventually turn up at 6pm and the man I dealt with was lovely and apologised.
The van itself was brand new and only had 67 miles on the clock so was a lovely drive.
A week later I got an email saying I had not put quite enough diesel in. It was difficult to judge as it was slightly over a quarter of a tank of fuel when it arrived and on the photos I returned it slightly under, slight over a quarter of a tank, so they invoiced me £68.30 (admin fee £35.00) which just about summed up my experience with Nationwide. Annoyed by this I then asked for a refund for the Monday afternoon we had paid for and not had the van. They had caused me so much stress by completely ignoring my calls I did also contact another hire company trying to hire a van with them in case this one never showed up. They have since helped themselves to the fuel/admin fee money using the card I booked it with even though I instructed them not to as they owe me for an afternoon of hire I never had!!

First time user of Nationwide hire. The booking was easy. Both the drop off and collection were hassle free.Both the drivers who dropped off the van and the one who picked up were very polite. Will use them again if needed.

Easy to book and hand over and collection amazing- van was great restricted to 70mph which was a bit annoying

DO NOT USE! Charged for damage to switch inside vehicle which I did not cause. Vehicle left on my drive for the whole of the Bank Holiday post hire period expiring. Staff arrogant, rude and have no care.

Hired auto van it was a little late arriving but we made the ferry ok. Van was in good condition and hassle free.
Will rent again.

I booked with Nationwide, and the booking was hassle free compared to other companies. Straight forward car was delivered a day before which was welcomed. I'd certainly book with them again! Highly recommended!

no option for less than zero, Booked a car because they advertise free delivery and collection which we needed, when phoned everything was fine for my area plus my area was advertised on their advert so paid and was really happy with the service and ease of organising very helpful, however less than half hour after paying received email saying there was no car in my area and if i wanted to continue i would need to either pick up from a place that was almost an hour away or pay over £160 for delivery which they advertise for free plus pay admin fees etc i genuinely thought this was a scam and phoned immediately, but no this was the case it was then that i was told that they were only a broker and there was no was of knowing whether they could get you a car or not when you book, absolutely shocking they can advertise like this, three days before our booking got email to say that there was going to be a slight delay on arrival from the 9am we booked until 12pm it didn't come until 12.20 not a slight delay of over 3 hours as we pretty much lost the first day of our holiday because of the knock on effect can only imagine if someone had been due to catch a ferry or flight etc it was left to late to try and organise anything with another company so hands are tied, i was getting scared of what email was coming next was half expecting to be told if i wanted wheels included it would be an extra £50 a pop! on trying to put in a complaint they dont aknowledge receipt of complaint and went over the 28 days of me having to message them to respond they don't seem to care whether their service is ok or not or what reviews they get, please do not book with this company and go straight to the actual hire company as its a bit of a joke really that they can advertise the way that they do i would never have went with them had i known straight away that they were only a broker and cant guarantee anything they advertise, definitely read any terms and conditions in the small print to not get caught out, it scares me that companies can advertise like this

Awful company! Absolute rip off merchants.
We hired a dropside van to use for scaffolding erection in May this year. Everything was fine until the van was collected. Unfortunately one of our lads had left our powertools in the van (£360 worth). The person collecting the vehicle took photos of every part of the vehicle apart from the area where the tools had been left and when I called to alert the company of this the following morning they said as we cant prove they were there, there was nothing they could do. They also informed me that the vehicle had already been hired out again without being checked so the tools will probably be taken by whoever had hired the vehicle after us! After many calls we just kept being told someone would call us back. Two months later we received a call back saying the van is back from the next hirer and the tools are not there. Shortly after this I then received an email saying that there were scratches in the loading bed of the van and that we were liable! They stated that the scratches were there on inspection before the van was hired out again so it must have been us that caused the damage, despite saying before that the vehicle was not checked before it was hired out again? If it had been checked they would have found the tools left inside and they could have been returned.
I emailed back raising various concerns I had about this, expecting there to be some sort of discussion on the matter. the next thing I know £397 has been taken from our account without warning. The quote they had originally provided was £331 incl. VAT which is already expensive for a couple of small scratches that we hadn't even accepted liability for yet!
I am just shocked at the lack of communication from this company and the blatant disregard for our concerns. We weren't supplied with any concrete evidence of anything and when we questioned the situation we were ignored. I am still waiting for this to be resolved but I don't hold out much hope. I will never be using this company again and I recommend others to stay away unless you want to get ripped off!
