Odynovo Review 22-day trip in Asia

Our group is a family of 3 (mom and two adult sons - all able to endure multiple days of walking all day). This is our second time traveling with Odynovo (first was in Vietnam and Thailand - a great experience planned by the same travel consultant!) We are traveling to Japan (10 days), Hong Kong (2 days), and China (10 days). We are fitting a lot into this trip, and, so far, we have done Japan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Our travel consultant (Joan Qin) has made sure to build an itinerary that has us busy but well-entertained with lots of sight-seeing and a good amount of activity that left us ready for a good night’s sleep. She also ensured we had a day or two of buffer between days-long stretches of activity to be spent in the locations we planned to relax with less activity, such as Okinawa, Hakone, and Luoyang. Though our stays in each city have been 1-2 days, we have not felt like we missed out on the city. Instead, we felt a better sense of which cities we would want to come back and spend a. Longer time visiting.

As for our experience with our tour guides, we have had excellent service! Our tour guides so far have all been personable, knowledgeable, and always ready to assist. Our tour guides: Tokyo (Miwa Aiko - so pleasant and always looking after our comfort), Hakone (Mona - very patiently climbed to Arakuyama Summit with us with frequent breaks), Kyoto (Hidekia “Hal” Nakamoto - took great photos for us and traded great stories about his travels with us), Nara (Jason Chou - very knowledgeable about Nara and the deer, very accommodating), Hong Kong (Chas Yip - wonderful guy, enthusiastic and friendly, took his time to make sure we effectively transitioned from being tourists in Japan to being tourists in Hong Kong), and Shanghai (Joy Dai - a special shoutout to Joy for being an exceptional guide as we stumbled through setting up our WeChat and troubleshooting our issues with half-way translated Mandarin-to-English in the app as well as going above and beyond after hours to help us set up a last-minute luggage transfer from Shanghai to Beijing when our hotel concierge at the Hengshan Garden Hotel told us that they didn’t have luggage transfer as a service at the hotel or in China). We loved our experience with each of these guides!

We still have planned visits to Luoyang, Xi’an, and Beijing, but we anticipate just as wonderful an experience.

Update at the end of the trip:
The rest of the trip continued to be as wonderful as before. Our tour guides were awesome: Kelly Li in Luoyang was always helpful, pleasant, and engaging with facts about each of the sites we visited. Jessie Hu in Xi’an was a riot! We had a great time full of laughs, learning, and good food. Roy Yan in Beijing took good care of us and was always ready to adjust our scheduled activities to our needs.

Overall, we had a wonderful time on our trip with great use of our time (again, thank you to our travel consultant, Joan Qin) made even better by the lovely tour guides we had!

My husband and I are just back from our third trip with Odynovo. We had two fantastic trips to Vietnam and China and thoroughly enjoyed our most recent trip to Morocco.
Ander Zou yet again assisted me expertly in organising our itinerary in Rabat, Meknes, Fes, Merzouga, Skoura, Ait Ben Haddou and Marrakesh. I do like booking most of our accommodation myself but always appreciate his advice and assistance with logistics, guides and the seamless organisation of the trip. Yet again, our Morocco trip ran like clock-work, thanks to him.
Unlike on our Asian trips, we opted for a driver only in Morocco, with expert guides being provided in Volubilis, Fes, Ait Ben Haddou and Marrakesh. This proved to be a little bit of a learning experience for us. Our driver Rashid was an absolutely lovely guy - kind, punctual, reliable, a safe driver and an all-round wonderful person to be around. However, he had little knowledge of any of the sights we were visiting and could not really fill us in on culture, history, religion and other topics we were interested in and would usually discuss with our guides. We found it a bit strange to be let out of the car near sights without any information or even how to get to the entrance or without anybody having verified opening hours. After the disappointment of finding the Moulay Ismael Mausoleum in Meknes closed when we got there we decided to take a more pro-active approach and do a lot more research/checking ourselves, as well as organising our lunch-stops. Our guides at the designated locations were excellent, especially Khalid in Fes and Lhassan in Marrakesh.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed Morocco (it has come a long way since I first visited 30 odd years ago!) and would happily return to explore more of this fascinating country and stunning architecture. We are grateful to Ander, Rashid and our location guides for all their kindness and expertise. A special thank you to Rashid for the huge box of home-made cookies he gave us as a good-bye gift – what a lovely gesture. No doubt, this will not have been our last trip with Odynovo!

In the last few years I have been using the tour products that Odynovo has to offer. I have been traveling with them in Asia, Latin America, and Northern Africa. All these trip were interesting, organized and executed to perfection!!! Ms Lynn Liu , a senior travel Consultant, created all these trips . With her attention to details, and listening to my requirements, this lady created a flow less programs. Our travel consultant (Lily Guo) showed amazing attention to detail and organizational skills, in that every aspect of our private tour went smoothly, with no setbacks or glitches throughout our 22 days SE Asian trip. Lily's prompt and clear communications to us during the planning, was outstanding.
The guides and drivers, and the hotel selection were exceptional, as were all modes of transport ( motor cars, boats, planes).
Special mention must be given to all our guides, who went far and beyond to make our trip both enjoyable and safe.
I would not hesitate to use Odynovo Tours for all our worldwide future tavel.

My friend and I just returned from a 10-day trip to Morocco arranged through Odynovo. This was our fourth trip with the company, and our third working with Cathy Hou as our trip coordinator. We had originally booked a Jordan/Cairo trip, but when the Iran war precluded going, Cathy worked with us to pivot to the Morocco itinerary. As with our previous Odynovo trips, she was professional, responsive, and flexible—accommodating our specific requests to customize our sightseeing preferences. Our guides and driver were excellent throughout the trip. We have continued to recommend Odynovo to our family and friends for their vacations!

Odynovo prepared a two week first time visit to China for my wife and I. Communication with Cathy Hou, our rep at Odynovo was great. She listened to our suggestions and insights and created an itinerary that touched on all the things we wanted to see in our first visit to China. We had great guides in all the places we visited but I’d like to single out Luther in Chongqing and Sunny in Zhangjiajie. Luther was an information machine in all things related to Chongqing and China history. He was very knowledgeable and willing to share his insights with our curiosity. Sunny was the same in Zhangjiajie. She was all heart and warmth packed in a tiny package. My wife got sick in Zhangjiajie and we needed to go see a doctor at night. Sunny navigated the translation and the hospital visit with great professionalism and poise and warmth towards my wife that we will always remember and be grateful for. Odynovo has a great team in place to make your visit to China a reality and to ensure you have a great time while doing it.

We had an excellent experience with Odynovo Tours. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully planned and the level of service made us feel like VIPs.

Each city had a different tour guide, and every one of them was knowledgeable, engaging, and attentive. They shared meaningful historical context that made each destination more interesting and memorable. They also gave great shopping recommendations and arranged wonderful lunches that fit our preferences perfectly.

A special thank you to Avril in Shanghai and Holly in Wuhan. Avril was incredibly informative and a pleasure to spend time with, and Holly made our train arrival in Wuhan smooth and stress free.

We also truly appreciated the train arrangements. We requested business class tickets, and Odynovo went above and beyond by securing a private train car for our family, which was a highlight of the trip.

Overall, Odynovo exceeded our expectations in every way. We would absolutely travel with them again.

We recently completed a 14-day trip to China with Odynovo, and it exceeded our expectations. As first-time visitors, we had many questions, and our main travel consultant, Cathy, was incredibly patient, structured, and trustworthy throughout the entire planning process.
Our journey took us through Shanghai, Guilin (which we explored on our own), Chengdu, Xi’an, and Beijing. In every city, the local guides were prompt, knowledgeable, and approachable, making each stop seamless and enriching.
Overall, it was a well-organized and memorable experience. We’d definitely recommend Odynovo to anyone planning their first trip to China.

Kim met us at the Ho Che Min airport, with the biggest smile & friendly personality which was such a welcome & great start to our tour. Her advice, help in all area’s of where to shop, where to eat, sharing knowledge of all area’s we visited, was impeccable. Would thoroughly recommend Odynovo. From booking through to actually being on the trip the service has been amazing. Cathy was super helpful with customising the itinerary and her infinite patience with our many tweaks. There were many thoughtful additions and some lovely surprises while we were away. The guides were all amazing and great accommodation in good locations. There was a flight change and this was all sorted to ensure we had the best possible experience. We just got home from a South China tour arranged by Allison Chiang and Odynovo. Allison had planned a great Vietnam trip for my wife and I and friends a few years ago and she came through again. She customized the trip for the two of us and gave what turned out to be really useful advice. The guides were all great--knowledgeable and personable. We especially liked Linda Da in Guangzhou, Lu in Guilin and Mei Mei Yang in Zhangjiajie. Lu and Mei, who were with us the longest, made us feel like family. The whole experience in China was so smooth and so much fun.

We just returned from an incredible trip to Morocco, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. I just returned home from a fabulous tour of China with my 10-year -old grandson, all organized by Odynovo. Eric Kong, my specialist, was fantastic customizing our trip, adding all the activities we wanted to the tour and making sure it would be a good fit for a young boy who loves history. Once we arrived in China, our expectations were exceeded at every turn, from the welcome and VIP pass through customs, to the guides and drivers for each city to the 5 star hotels. Traveling with a wonderful guide and personal driver has me spoiled and now I don’t want to travel any other way.

We were looking for a one week programme to China and approached Odynovo to help us with this. From my brief they put together a detailed itinerary that accurately covered our needs (Beijing and Xi'an)and was at a fair price. On proceeding we were kept in touch with all requirements. The programme was delivered faultlessly. Our guides, drivers and cars were all of the highest standard and all visits and choices of hotels were excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

We toured Thailand with Odynovo Tours. It was a perfect trip - fun, interesting and no stress! Our tour coordinator, Ander Zou, really listened to what I wanted to do and didn't want to do. He was incredibly quick and responsive throughout the planning process. The guides and drivers, especially Nick and Praew, were very knowledgeable, kind and fun. Most days included two big meals and we were not hungry for a third. They were great restaurants too-including one with a Michelin star. The hotels were great, and they were notified of my food allergies ahead of time. Each individual activity was top tier and we experienced so many things that were not even on our itinerary. Everytime I had a thought like, "I wish I had asked to visit a hill tribe", the guide would say, " We're having lunch at a hill tribe and we can visit their village if you like," Knowing I like birdwatching, Ander contracted with a professional bird guide for our trip to a national park. Nick planned fun stops with local vendors ahead of time- teaching us to fold open a lotus, or making us smoothies. Praew brought her teenage daughter along one day to hang out with my teenage grandson and they bought us souvenirs to remember them by. If you don't have a lot of time to plan, want to get to know a lot of locals, and want to be pampered, these individualized tours are the way to go! My only suggestion is to budget for the guides of individual activities- not just the Odynovo guides. This is not at all expensive, I just did not realize that many places such as cooking schools, boat operators and elephant sanctuaries also appreciate small tips and I was sometimes short on cash.

Fantastic trip to Chengdu organized by Odynovo. Our tour guide Betty was phenomenal and our driver was top notch. She took us to see the Panda Research base at the right time to avoid crowds and we had a wonderful visit to see the Leshan Buddha which was amazing. This is part of a 6 week trip to China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand organized by Odynovo and the service and accommodations have been top notch!

I can’t rave enough about Odynovo and their representative Mola. She organized a trip for my husband and myself to Vietnam and Thailand for just under a month. Mola put together flights, private tour guides, drivers, hotels, tours, some meals and handled all the details associated with an overseas trip. Everything was outstanding. Every detail handled, my numerous questions answered with patience and a lot of help.
I also was so impressed with our Tour Guides. Endy in Saigon was so personable and knowledgeable. He did a great job of giving us a lot of background about our sites and helping us understand local cultures and lifestyles. Ky was our tour guide in the Central Highlands and he met us the night before we started our tours to gather information about us. We told him how my husband had served in VN during the war and gave the name of the US camp. That night (before our tour started) Ky researched where the camp had been located and took my husband and I there. This indeed was the highlight of our trip to allow my husband to be able to stand on the ground where he once served. This was above and beyond what we expected – thank you Ky. We had 2 more tour guides in VN – Vu who showed us the sights of Hoi An and Hue, took us to some great local restaurants and spent time answering questions and giving us local background; Thanh who was our guide in Hanoi and Halong Bay – he also was so helpful in understanding the culture of the North and seeing local sites. In Thailand we had Vicky who helped us understand the sites we were seeing and when I lost my credit card helped us find the last place I used it and talked to several people to try and locate the card. Our last guide was Nick who did a great job of explaining all the backgrounds, customs and importance of the religious and historical sites we saw. Nick was so willing to answer all our questions and when he found out that my husband liked sprite – the next day it was in the cooler for us – he went out of his way for us. Every guide was there for us every step of the way, we never had to worry about transfers, flights, questions, they walked us through everything and they often took pictures which they sent to us. Also hats off to the drivers– they maneuvered outrageous traffic without any stress. Thank you Mola for a great trip and for picking outstanding guides – we had the best time.
