I have used OVH a few times over the years for different projects and always found the service outstanding.
With my latest server purchase I had some issues in wanting to change my OS licensing after making a mistake upon purchasing and committing to a year of the wrong server OS version than i needed ,it took a little back and forth in support tickets but got it resolved ,i managed to add a SPLA license and install the OS that i needed with a little guidance from the support team.
The only negative thing i could say about my experience is it would be a good addition to be able to change the OS license on a 12 month commitment to another continuing the commitment on a different OS without cancelling the service all together.
Support was really helpful and polite and understanding of my issue and worked well to find a resolve for me.
Highly recommended ,Great service !
WAITING FOR £12.00 REFUND STILL.
WAITING FOR £12.00 REFUND STILL.
30 Nov 2021 14:04:14 – original order.
I received the authCode from customersupport-ovh.co.uk on 30/11/2021 14:02 which was applied straightaway. Order was then cancelled as OVH failed to take/accept payment of £0.00 for the transfer.
06 Dec 2021 – 2nd order
Received the authCode from customersupport-ovh.co.uk on 06/12/2021 00:06 which again was applied straightaway. But again the same error where OVH would not accept the £0.00 transfer payment. After which the ticket support were opened up.
However, now the TAG had been changed from 123-REG to OVH-fr at some point after 6th December 2021. After repeated attempts to sort this matter out, it was clear that OVH had no clue what they were saying. As OVH kept on saying to look out for a new authCode, but I fail to understand why I would be needing a new authCode when the domain is already with the OVH-fr TAG. I was trying to move my domain to OVH.
After getting in contact with Nominet, it was clear the domain was with OVH-fr, as this was the TAG on it. So OVH had completed the transfer but were keeping the domain away from my account. The only way to take control over my own domain was to pay Nominet £12.00 fee to get the domain released away from OVH.
So please explain how you still believe that it’s not OVHcloud at fault from your ‘thorough verification’?
SINCE OVH HAVE STOPPED REPLYING TO ME - 16 DAYS SINCE LAST CONTACT. TICKET 3456559
---
UPDATE 31/01/2022 - after a month, they finally replied the following:
'Thank you for your patience. Your request has been taken care of.
After having analyzed your request your claim concerns the operation paid on the registry Nominet.
Therefore, we are not in a position to respond favorably to your request for compensation, we will not cover the indicated fee.'
Be very careful if you use this company, they will take your domain from you and keep it in their control, to which you'll have to pay £12 fee to Nominet to get it released from this horrible company.
Cheap with many TLDs available but sucks badly
Cheap with many TLDs available but expect to receive really sh*ty service. The UI full of bugs and counter intuitive, transactions often fail and support is pushing the blame to customers unwilling to resolve problems. This company has been very unprofessional for years since I remember their clunky web user interface from 2000 that put me off. They've now revamped their UI that incidentally still sucks badly at UX. They also don't bother to localise system messages thus expect you to speak their beloved French. I'm really fed up and will be moving all my services somewhere else (or will build my own web hosting that will work as expected). They seem to be drowning in their support tickets because they don't resolve issues properly with their systems. On top of that they let one of their DCs in Germany completely burn down then tell their customers to trigger DR! Amateurs!
AVOID AND NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!
Quite unbelievable!!! Just when you thought a company couldn't stoop any lower after steeling money (thousands) they have excelled them selves yet again!!! Looking at all the reviews on-line the one thing they do well is steel and ignore customers!! After years steeling from me then refusing to discuss this with me by simply telling me to call the police on at least three occasions they stoop even lower!! After adding a review on here under OVHcloud, they tried to get the review taken down by saying they,"believe your review actually belongs to another business." and sent a link to this page - guess what, it's the same company and support number!!! They will go to any lengths to take money, ignore customers and behave as badly as possible without a care in the World. It's seems they are use to bad reviews and just ignoring people - AVOID THEM AND NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!
Sham of a company
They may have a decent VPS servers but when it comes down to the support, it is the worst of its kind.
To start with, they don't have any live online help. Even the Chat Bot is not working.
Don't even try to create a ticket for technical help—the only response you will ever get is there is nothing they can do about it or the answer won't even relate to your question.
As for the questions related to billing—not only that you have to wait for several days for them to answer you, when they do answer you are bound to end up with twice as many questions and more confused than before you started the ticket.
Honestly, I used to get much better service from a company that billed me £50 a year, while OVH charges me close to £1000!
Sham of a company and best to be avoided.
Use them for VPS and Domain solutions
Use them for VPS and Domain solutions. Their service is good. Sometimes a little slow and their support could be improved but as someone who knows their way around servers, its ok.
Fine until you need support
We have hosted with OVH for several years and we've managed several dedicated servers with them. We've never required support before but we became the victim of a targetted DDoS attack - OVH null routed our network and left us offline with no response to support tickets for 4 days. As a live business this was completely unacceptable, they weren't willing to accept responsibility claiming we were only null routed for 8 hours and refusing to offer any kind of refund.
Will never host with them again and recommend anyone to stay away.
Disgraceful service and no refunds
This is the worst hosting company I have ever come across. Their support is absolutely rude and ineffective. When I asked for my money back they refused saying that because it does not fall under the Consumers Rights Act definition they will not give a refund. I think their behaviour in all this has been disgusting and I would advise that you use any other hosting company than this one. They are a disgrace.
Unusable platform, no support
Two weeks waiting for an answer from support because the service I purchased was unusable (seems like a bug didn't generate the ssh access address/credentials for the server I purchased). While the technical issues were totally ignored, when I finally opened a billing issue to ask for a refund, that was taken care of quite quickly.
There are things people don't get about…
There are things people don't get about OVH. They provide hardware and network. This is where their responsibility ends. To be fair, they do an amazing job with that. I had a disk failure on Christmas night, a ticket was automatically logged (they have a monitoring system) and they replaced the disk within a couple of hours.
Another server developed a tendency to crash. First time, they replaced all the RAM (128 GB). Next time, they replaced the motherboard. Next time they removed the disks and moved them to a different chassis. The issue was fixed. Note that they didn't spare any hardware, human labour or cost to get it sorted.
When it comes to hardware and network, these guys are very reactive because these issues are under their own responsibility.
I contacted them a few months ago because their installer was unable to deploy a certain Linux image on some servers. They responded immediately, deployed the image manually on my server then fixed the automatic installer.
I contacted them a few years about an IP that wasn't routing to my servers, they fixed within a few hours... etc.
However, don't log support tickets about these topics:
- Your application is not compiling on your server
- Your CPU is going to the roof
- You lost your root password
- Your emails to Gmail are bouncing
- WordPress is showing PHP errors
... etc.
All these issues are yours and you need to be able to fix them or hire people to fix them for you. OVH doesn't own these issues.
They control IDs when you open an account. This is industry standard because of rampant fraud. All providers would do that. Some even call you home or send a letter to verify your address. The OVH verification process is within the norm.
Refunds are usually refused. This is also industry standard for all service providers. It happened to me once to take a server and I wasn't happy with it. It was an AMD and I felt the CPU wasn't that good for my project. But I just cancelled the server and that's it. I lost a month of server rental due to a bad decision on my end.
Overall, if you understand what you are doing, can manage a server without requiring assistance, OVH is the perfect provider.
One of my servers with them had 5 years continuous uptime! It was rented, used for a project for 5 years then decommissioned without a single reboot from 2015 to 2020.
Just know what you are doing! If you need support with OS, applications, user experience... go for a provider with fully managed solutions. You would pay more indeed. But with OVH, you pay for hardware and network only. That's why you get a lot for your bucks.
All the best for your projects.
Be aware that they are a scam company
Be aware that they are a scam company. I subscribe and they did not solve my problem as I was not able to use the VPS service. Then I wanted to ask for a refund within 4 days and they refused. I contacted over and over and they said unfortunately I am not able to get refund as they claimed I used the service which I never used! Stay away from this company.. there are many other companies that can be found on Google.
Laughable request.
Placed an order on Saturday for their Linux value VPS. The monthly cost of this, without commitment is... *drum roll* £4.80 a month!
Monday evening comes, over 50 hours since paying, and they've emailed me requesting:
- Proof of ID such as Passport
- Proof of payment card
- Proof of address
This comes from their 'Anti-Fraud and Customer Security Department'
Are you actually for real? Not only is this a complete inconvenience, a further delay for myself, it is completely unnecessary. If I was going to make a fraudulent payment don't you think I would go for a higher packages? Did the person who reviewed this order actually consider this could be fraudulent in any way, shape or form? Idiot.
I've used OVH in the past with no problems, but clearly something has taken a turn for the worst over the past few years.
The only intention of using this server was to install Debian and OpenVPN to use for my WFH job, as an added layer of protection.
If you don't wish to approve my order, then refund me, close my account, remove my data under GDPR and shove your services where the sun don't shine.
Terrible: No Refunds, Support £45pm, Bad Comms, V Slow
Dont use this company if you need ANY kind of support whatsover or expect a refund for any issues.
Had a nightmare with them for a week now trying to get email up and running.
They dont read emails properly and they take hours or days to reply with the wrong answers. Its hopeless if you are running any kind of business.
I called to get advice and the UK commercial manager assured me a refund was possible with an Exchange Hosted account. With the slow support they said if i paid £45 per month they would support me to get their poor service working - great.
So i asked for a refund as promised and guess what, buried in the T&Cs is a clause that says no refunds!
Paid for annual subscription to email as well so really not happy.
They just give out standard responses and go around in circles very slowly and dont actually move any issues forwards.
Bare Metal server deleted without…
Bare Metal server deleted without warning.
I signed up for a 12 month auto-renewal, after the first month the server was just deleted (They cannot get it back).
The billing staff say its a technical issue, the technical team say its a billing issue.
Terrible service don’t bother
Terrible service don’t bother. They are money grabbing and really do not care about anything, the responses you get are all robotic.
We used to have 10+ servers with OVH, we have pretty much moved away fully, loyalty gets you nothing with OVH.
Was happy to see everything was setup…
Was happy to see everything was setup properly, knowing previous owners weren't technical at all. Initial interaction was very positive and their support staff seems amazing.
They are scammers.
They are scammers.
They have deleted my account without any notice.
I have trusted these guys and hosted my sites in there suddenly they have deleted my account.
Now i do not have money for search another hosting.
I need my money.
You guys owe me 130$.
I am frustrated about these guys
I was work with Contabo and they never treat me as they did.
Terrible service & product
Terrible service & product.
Moved from Cloudways to these guys via my developer who had a great relationship with them for a number of years.
Started off well, then everything just started going wrong after year 1's renewal.
They kept renewing my domain instead of my email plan & renewed it for multiple years ahead & expected me to pay this rather than fix their error, as their systems can't fix this.
I still had to pay for my emails too, despite their error.
Website kept crashing - it was always pay for a upgrade to a better server, which lasted a short time & then broke.
Customer service & support went to hell in a hand basket once they started charging the €80 per month support package. Basic support requests took forever to be answered or were shot down with a that's only covered by the subscription package - basically trying to force you to buy their "support".
When the fire took out the servers & crashed our website, they basically shrugged & offered no help or apologies. I lost important emails & my website had to be rebuilt from scratch using a different provider as these guys are horrendous.
Avoid at all costs
Perfect for my jump server
I have a single (cheapest option going) VPS with OVH, running ArchLinux. My server was available within about an hour of ordering, and has a fixed public IP address. I don't require any customer support (unless of course my server goes down); I'm merely using the VPS as a jump server. I took an initial 1 month rental contract, which only cost me a few quid - just to see what the service was like as there are loads of bad reviews for OVH.
However, for what I need, my OVH hosted server is great; it provides me with a server "somewhere in the cloud" with a fixed public IP address, which I can easily remote into (from anywhere with an internet connection) and configure.
