Rubberised plastic finish
Radio sound quality and overall design good. But beware of any with a slightly rubberised plastic finish. It will go sticky eventually - though I have had it a long time!. Though this applies to other brands and products as well.
PURE EVOKE C-D4
Dear Sir/Madam,
Our Pure Evoke C-D4 has suddenly stopped playing sound from the speaker although it remains powered up and shows volume level on the display.
I looked online for a possible cause and a helpline for Pure products but all I could find was a lot of people with nothing but a litany of complaints and grievances about your poor or non existent customer service. For a product as simple as a radio/cd player to fail after a couple of years is shocking, especially as you charge a premium price.
This evoke c-d4 will be going in the bin where it belongs, I will buy another from a reputable manufacturer, but rest assured I will make it known to everyone I possibly can about the rubbish you produce and do my utmost to dissuade them from buying any of your products whatsoever.
Pure Highway 600 wireless controller…
Pure Highway 600 wireless controller stopped working, no worries, it has a 3 year warranty
Tried to contact Pure support and web site is useless, there is a place to attach photos/docs that does not work.
3 year warranty looks like its not worth the paper it written on!!!!!!
Pure support ticket No 202107281FRXN , that's if you can be bothered Pure
Awful Company - DON'T BUY FROM PURE!!!
I bought a Pure Evoke digital radio 4 years ago but the screen has completely faded to nothing rendering the radio completly inoperable. Pure "Support" website is mainly in Austrian and equally as useless as my (expensive) radio! No response from the company to my on-line enquiry for help. Lots of evidence from Google search that this is a common problem with Evoke radios - and Pure are not prepared to even respond to the problem. Unbelievably apalling customer service! Makes me ashamed that they were once British. Also I note that there are two very suspicious positive reviews on this site which are very short and use similar wording - penned in Austria possibly?
Avoid Pure Radios
Still haven't heard back from the company regarding my internet radio that wont connect to the internet after contacting them online in June 2021. Purely shocking that this company is still trading do not buy from them. Have bought myself a Bose radio far superior product and they provide customer service!
Truly awful customer service
I bought a pure evoke f3 Bluetooth internet radio because I live in the north of Scotland and can only get good reception through the internet connection. The radio developed a fault with its ability to connect to the internet so I contacted pure as the radio is less than a year old, you can't get the on the phone so I submitted an online form, that was over a week ago and I have heard nothing except an automated reply giving me a ticket number, tried chasing it up via the online form and just got another ticket number. Radio has gone in the bin and I have ordered a Bose one. Don't expect any help from pure if you have a problem.
Pure radio
Pure radio, very poor and not a high end product, £300 and will not switch on anymore.no response using e-mail and using covid as an excuse.
Do not buy a pure product as they have no interest once you have paid for it, also Argos has no interest, any one no a good radio manufacturer that will repairs their faulty products.
Pure and the manufacturer warranty
This review concerns manufacturer warranty and whose responsibility it is when things go wrong. It relates to a Pure DAB radio and is linked to another review I wrote about Argos where the item was bought, and their unwillingness to resolve the matter. Briefly, the radio developed a fault after 13 months, so outside of Argos' 12 month warranty, but comfortably within Pure's 3 year manufacturer warranty. I took it back to Argos, but they weren't interested, instead suggesting I take it up with Pure. Pure said that the model was discontinued, so couldn't replace it and recommended going back to Argos for a refund. So back to Argos, but the same response as before, despite me quoting the Consumer Rights Act 2015 about their responsibility. After my 1star review, their customer service got in touch but insisted I get a professional evaluation before they would take the matter further. How much would that cost? Certainly more than the radio is worth. So I go back to Pure to insist that they honour their warranty, but they haven't replied. Perhaps they consider the matter closed, or just hope that I will go away if they ignore me. If the item was of more value I would probably take them to the small claims court, but maybe I will just avoid Pure products from now on, and will also avoid Argos in future. But be aware, buying something because of the manufacturer warranty may not give you the reassurance you think. Ticket#20210506QRQL5 if you are reading this Pure.
Pure No More
Like many others, the screen on my Pure Evoke 2S is fading towards oblivion. I have just gone onto the Pure website to try the 'Support' link but it is broken. That, I guess, is a metaphor for the radio. Shame.
I'd originally bought into the hype surrounding Pure products and their branding. However, from what I've read online, the screens do have appear to have a natural obsolescence, it is not clear that replacements are available, some of the unit is made of cheap plastic and apparently hot glue is used inside.
Frankly, absent compelling arguments to the contrary on their quality, I would not be inclined to buy Pure products going forward and will instead look at more established, longer lasting competitor offerings.
High quality sound in substandard hardware
I have had 2 Pure Elan radios over several years. The sound quality of Pure radios is excellent, but for some reason the hardware is not good quality and goes wrong or breaks, making the radio obsolete for the wrong reasons. Such a shame as they are not cheap.
Lack of out-of-warranty support
I got Pure Evoke D4 as a gift for my mother, it was used as a stationary kitchen top radio. The display stopped working after four years. The response from support was "we are no longer able to offer a repair solution or spare parts for your product as it would not be economical".
I have several Pure radios
I have several Pure radios, the evokes have been OK although the wood veneer splits over time, sound quality is rather good though. I do however have bug problems with the Classic One with a rubberised finish, it has gone sticky and cannot be handled, the rubberised finish has degraded badly and the unit is unusable to touch, it also cuts out and stalls and the rechargeable battery, which was quite expensive at the time, does not last very long. Overall I would look elsewhere as there appears to be no help from Pure customer services.
Avoid Pure Radio if it ever needs repairing!
I was given a present around Christmas time by a friend who then travelled abroad, and who is not returning to the UK soon due to Covid-19. It is made by Pure and is a current model Evoke CD-4. I recently unpacked it and although the radio worked , the CD player did not. I tried to contact the company without success, writing to both directors of Pure International Ltd on two occasions, but received no reply. So I decided to pay for the carriage of the cd/radio back to their address, assuming, as the item was basically new and unused, that they would assess and hopefully fix the problem. Next they said that they would only consider looking at the radio if I supplied a receipt, but as it was a present and the giver is abroad for the foreseeable future, this was not possible. I pointed this out and they refused to offer any help simply stating that the radio could not be repaired and wished to return it. I asked for a technical report and they said one did not exist because they had done a cost analysis on offering a repair service and found it to be uneconomical. When challenged on this that maintained that it was cheaper to throw a faulty product away than fix it. I find this to be disgraceful, especially in today's climate where we are encouraged to recycle and reuse. The Pure Evoke C-D4 is- at least in theory- a sophisticated product with expensive components and parts and in my view it is totally irresponsible to just toss such an object onto the scrap heap. I suggested that they probably know what I think they should do with their useless product, also adding that perhaps as a more practical alternative they should use it as a teaching aid for their junior technicians (if they employ any, that is.) SO MY STRONG ADVICE IS TO AVOID PURE PRODUCTS UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN THEY WILL NEVER REQUIRE A REPAIR.
Avoid Pure radio
After nearly three weeks I received the radio coming from Austria. Unfortunately the UBS lead and pug were missing. I contacted the customer service team and they advised they could not do anything and to send an email to the support team. The radio only works using batteries. I am still waiting to hear from the support team. Very bad customer service
STICKY PLASTIC
I bought a Radio DAB four years ago. The radio still works, but the external plastic became all sticky and smelly. I will have it checked if the polymers used are safe....
In the same price range you can find much, much better products.
Poor quality product
I have had 2 Pure radios and both have broken down between 2 to 3 years I was informed by Pure that in both cases they couldn’t be repaired but instead they offered a 10 per cent discount off a new radio in my opinion they are an overpriced poor quality product dressed up as a premium brand. I won’t make the same mistake again.
PURE Siesta DAB/FM Clock Radio totally…
PURE Siesta DAB/FM Clock Radio totally dead after minimal use! It's not the power supply. AVOID
We have a Siesta Rise clock radio
We have a Siesta Rise clock radio. The night time display was abysmal from new and has now completely disappeared.
What a useless and expensive purchase. Will never buy Pure again.
Two radios that failed after a short time
I have now owned two Pure radios. The quality is good but the display on the first radio stopped working after two years and then failed to work at all after another year. The second radio developed a fault after just three months. As the second was under guarantee I emailed the company. I received an automated response, but nothing more for several months. We were in lockdown (last spring) so I remained patient. Eventually I was offered a mono replacement for my stereo unit, as they had none of mine in stock. I am very disappointed with Pure and will never purchase another radio from them.
PURE Evoke C-D6 CD Player Failure
Purchased a PURE Evoke C-D6 Radio/CD player some 3 years ago. Never played the radio, but I was very happy with the CD machine until I recently experienced a problem with a valuable (you might know) CD being stuck in the drive. Contacted Pure's technical department who took days to respond. They failed to offer any constructive advice as to how to remover the CD disc and could not tell me of anyone who I could send the machine to for service. However they did offer a replacement unit with a nominal discount, which I declined. I wish I read the reviews before making the purchase. I too thought Pure was a quality product but the service let's the company down very badly.
