I am NOT a professional IT person but I…

I am NOT a professional IT person but I was able to install my QNAP NAS. When I needed help they were fast to get a live person on line to assist. ... a few months I ran into problems... I gave them access to the unit remotely and it was fixed very quickly (I had done something a bit stupid !) The unit is very fast over wireless or wired and to the internet. I would buy again and I trust the people.

Terrible

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. So very slow 30 minute reboots, screens 2 to three minutes to build. Clunky interface, particularly with Active Directory integration, setting security, and simply connecting to shared folders. The basics are almost impossible to navigate.

I lost the key for my NAS

I lost the key for my NAS. $35 us for .05 worth of metal. Then another $22 cdn for some bs clearance. Over a week to put it in the mail. Icing on the cake is using DHL as a courier. Another week while the DHL clowns screw around with their partner Loomis (another joke).

Stay away from Qnap if you ever expect any sort of after sales service

I am/was a potential customer but trying to browse your websiteam is impossible .

You have a pop up which appears to enable notifications. ..it's impossible to select BLOCK....there fore after many attempts I can't be arsed to investigate any further, I'll take my cash to Synology Instead

QNAP sucks all around

QNAP sucks all around. Poor first party apps that do not work reliably coupled with a completely useless product support. It comes with hardware features such as HDMI which the CPU cannot support without dropouts etc... Time Machine backups - says it will and appears to work until your try to restore. If you relied on it as backup media you loose your data as it is does not work while customer support is insultingly useless p probably because they know it is useless. QNAP? - get tossed.

Mediocre product and TERRIBLE support

Mediocre product and even though they added features e.g. snapshots, they broke that functionality with an update and now I've spent 3 months with an open ticket....and the only response is 'escalated to developers...no ETA'.

They've even removed their phone # from contact link and now the only way you can get a hold of them is via their portal; they hide behind the tickets and just keep repeating useless answers (like above)

Useless company.

TVS-473

Bought a QNAP TVS-473 to work as a multi-media NAS and Plex server. Added benefit of a powerful CPU, potential for (64Gb) RAM upgrade, and an HDMI port. It never worked.

Very, very noisy. Incredible hum you can hear over the tv or music. Keeps crashing, won’t stay up more than 24 hours before needing another reboot. Ethernet adapters keep failing, disconnecting from the network. User interface horrible. HDMI interface unusable for anyone but a specialist. One month of investigations and diagnosis before technical support would agree to take this back for repair. Finally took it back for repair, replaced the motherboard and returned it - in exactly the same condition.

This is quite frankly a complete heap of junk. It sits next to a Synology I paid 1/4 the price for, silent, never crashes, easy to use, never a problem.

My advice, avoid at all costs.

Not for the fainthearted

It is not a product for the general consumer. We have had a 4 drive NAS running for almost 5 years. It allows us to share files over the local network and also via the cloud on other devices. It is not the easiest to set up and if you move like we did you will need to learn all the initial startup again. A lot of features seem useful, but we tend not to use.

Most terrible support ever.
No reasonable support on their forum, and when you dial them, they unreacheble.

And most wordt... they block you on their forum for reasons unknown.

In Summe tolle Produkte, aber lausiger Support.

Seitdem ich in der Arbeit das erste Mal mit einem QNAP NAS zu tun hatte, wollte ich mir auch Privat so ein tolles Teil zulegen.

Irgendwann kam dann der Moment: Der erste NAS. Damals ein TS-253 Pro. Alles schön sauber konfiguriert und ganz leicht die wichtigsten privaten Daten aufgespielt - super!
Nach nur einer Woche gab es einen Defekt - die zweite Festplatte wurde nicht mehr erkannt. Hardwarefehler.
Der Umtausch erfolgte über den Onlinehändler, bei dem ich die Maschine gekauft habe. Das zog sich über mehrere Monate - unglaublich - aber da kann der Hersteller nichts für. Vielleicht aber doch, weil der Händler das Gerät dort einschickt und prüfen lässt. Kann ich nicht beurteilen.

Mittlerweile bin ich auf ein größeres System umgestiegen, welches auch keine Probleme mehr gemacht hat.

Aber der Großteil aller meiner Erfahrungen mit dem Support war katastrophal. Es fängt bei Desinteresse an und endet bei Falschaussagen.

Die kleineren Problemchen mit dem Helpdesk:
- Gemeldete Probleme bzgl. der Software treffen auf Desinteresse. Fehlerberichte (inkl. reproduzierbaren Anleitungen und Screenshots) wurden über die Jahre in drei Fällen mit leeren Rückfragen beantwortet, nach dem Motto "wenn du möchtest, dass die Entwickler die Probleme beheben, brauchen wir noch folgende nutzlose Information: ..." oder "du musst noch folgendes Fehlerformular auf Englisch ausfüllen". In diesen Fällen hatte ich kein gesteigertes Interesse an einem Fix, da ich jeweils einen Workaround für mich gefunden habe oder ich lieber mit dem Problem lebe, als mich mit soetwas sinnfreiem herumzuschlagen. Hätte der Hersteller Interesse daran gehabt die Bugs zu beheben, hätte er alles erforderliche dazu gehabt. Aber hier wird lieber durch Gängelung abgeblockt.
- Anstatt eine sehr spezifische Frage gezielt zu beantworten, wurde mir ein Link zu einer mehrseitigen Beschreibung eines Features geschickt. Mit einem leeren Hinweis nach dem Motto "schon möglich, dass sich das in diesem Fall nicht so verhält wie erwartet".
- Schwierig ist es auch, wenn man mehrere Fragen stellt. Dann wird nur ein Teil davon beantwortet und der Rest ignoriert, so dass man noch ein oder gar zwei Mal nachhaken muss, bis man die Antworten erhält.

Was absolut gar nicht geht:
- Man frägt den Hersteller des Systems, ob eine PCI-Erweiterungskarte (200 Euro) gleichzeitig mit einer PCI-Grafikkarte (150 Euro) in die beiden vorhandenen PCI-Slots eingebaut werden kann. Da man moderne Grafikkarten (die fast immer zwei Slots hoch sind) kennt, frägt man hier lieber vorher nach, bevor man die Erweiterungen kauft und das NAS zerlegt um diese Einzubauen.
Antwort: "Die Steckplätze sind so dimensioniert, daß sowohl Grafikkarte als auch LAN-Karte gemeinsam passen."
Schwachsinn. Hat natürlich nicht gepasst, da der Platz der Grafikkarte nach oben durch die andere PCI-Karte begrenzt, und darunter aber die Schächte für die HDDs sind. Das passt nicht nur knapp nicht, sondern sowas von gar nicht. Danke dafür. Die Frage hat wohl der ahnungslose Praktikant an seinem ersten Tag beantwortet. Jetzt habe ich beide Karten daliegen, kann aber nur eine verwenden. Rückgabe ausgeschlossen, da auf Auktionsplattform von Privat gekauft.

Zusammenfassung:
- Ich bin mit den Produkten auch nach Jahren der Verwendung in Summe sehr zufrieden und empfehle sie auch immer wieder gerne weiter.
- Der Support dagegen ist abgrundtief schlecht. Zumindest der Deutsche. Ich kann nur hoffen, dass das in anderen Ländern mit anderen Support-Teams besser funktioniert.

Pessimi in tutto.

Pessimi in tutto.
Ho comprato diversi loro prodotti per tenere i miei dati in sicurezza e per motivi misteriosi sono stati persi a causa di problemi vari nel loro firmware.
L'assistenza? Non hanno neanche un numero di telefono e dopo un intervento con TeamViewer mi sono sentito dire che avrei dovuto arrangiarmi in quanto loro non sono un centro di recupero dati (parole del tecnico).
Vendono Nas a 2500€ e poi il risultato é questo, complimentoni. Spero solo di poter recuperare i miei dati da solo con quel catorcio per poi farlo sparire, anche se nel frattempo 10 anni di lavoro sono andati in fumo a causa delle loro configurazioni RAID inutili.

Terrible support

My backplane died after nearly 3 years (a component which should work for many years as it is a static piece of hardware).
Found out that there are many exactly similar issues found on google: bay 4 and 5 died in a 5 bay NAS.
QNAP is hiding behind their basic warranty of 2 years and wants me to pay €172 for a new backplane.
Shame on you!

Also the response time is too slow. Very annoying when your NAS is down!

As I am a storage professional, I will make sure all my customers know about their terrible support.

We need to get the problem sorted out immediately.
If the problem persists, then what action will be taken by the qnap company?

Very bas support

Very bas support. I had few URGENT problems and support was answering every 14th days , but that is not the worst , they were asking me same questions. I am going back on synology NAS their support is amazing. QNAP ugrently change and upgrade your pesonel regarding support since you will not get far like this

RAID1 problem on a TS212P

I had a problem on a TS212P: degraded mode in RAID1.
Qnap support in NL did a good job.
Within 24h a response came to open the remote connection. After sending a reply on their mail I had to wait a couple of days before action was taken, due to a load of tickets in their queue.
Don't make the mistake I did! When you become impatient and send another reply on their mail, then the queue counter is reset and you're the last one again in the queue!!!
Although this unknown inconvinience the helpdesk checked remotly my NAS and repaired it to my satisfaction! Thanks!

NOT FOR NOVICES.
NOT PLUG AND PLAY
after updates of software endless reconnect probems
always one part of the system not working.
one day synch not working, another day the system locks you out.
IT'S THE WORST TECH PURCHASE I EVER MADE.

I opened a support request on 29 June…

I opened a support request on 29 June 2018. I repeated several times that I do not speak english. I do write/understand it almost perfectly, but I do not speak it. I told that many many many times to Sahir Badarpura, I asked many many times if it'd be ok to just chat. He kept asking for my phone number. I finally gave him, even if that's totally useless. It took forever to get an appointment for the TeamViewer support, and on the appointment, he didn't want to chat. He wanted to talk over the phone. He called, I answered, and of course, I couldn't help him over the phone. I repeated him that I cannot do that over the chat. He stopped the session.
He transferred my ticket to Julian Gagnon on 11 July 2018.
27 July 2018, dead silence. No one got back to me. Neither Sahir or Julian.
