Prompt, well packaged delivery of good product. My order was placed over a weekend; it was dispatched on the first working day thereafter, and delivered (to Northern Ireland) less than 48hrs later. Happy to recommend on this basis.

Down in the holler, when the fog sat low like a guilty conscience and the copper still sang its midnight hymn, I was mindin’ my mash when the postman come rattlin’ up the dirt track like the Devil himself had leased him a mule.

Now, folks didn’t get much mail out my way in those dry-law days—less’n it was bad news, tax notices, or cousins askin’ for “medicine.” So when he handed me a parcel wrapped up tight in brown paper and twine, stamped with the mark of Rapid, I scratched my beard and thought, Well, butter my biscuits, what fool thing did I order?

Truth was, I hadn’t the faintest ghost of rememberin’.

Might’ve been one of them late-night catalogue notions. You know how it goes: three jars deep in your own corn liquor, flippin’ pages by lantern-light, feelin’ rich as Rockefeller and thinkin’ a man surely needs a mechanical egg-beater or imported sock garters.

So I set that box on the table like it was dynamite and studied it.

“Maybe it’s that new copper tubing,” I says to myself.
“Or maybe it’s suspenders.”
“Or Lord help me, maybe I bought another raccoon trap.”

I cut the twine careful, like pickin’ a lock at a revenue man’s office, and peeled back the paper.

Inside was… a porcelain goose.

A goose.

White as Sunday gloves, wearin’ a little blue bonnet, with a hollow belly for holdin’ biscuits.

Now I stood there a good long while, blinkin’ at it.

I says, “What in the name of bootleg bourbon is this for?”

There weren’t no note, just an invoice sayin’: Thank you for your order.

My order? Friend, I wouldn’t swear to it under oath.

But I’ll say this for Rapid: the goose was packed finer than a preacher’s alibi. Not a crack on her. Solid craftsmanship. Four stars outta five.

Lost a star on account of me not knowin’ why I owned it.

Still, turns out it’s mighty useful. Holds biscuits by day, hides flask bottles by night. Revenue men come snoopin’, they never think to look inside a goose.

So if you find yourself thumbin’ through catalogues by lamplight with corn liquor cloudin’ your judgment, just know this:

Sometimes the mail brings exactly what you need.

Even if you ain’t got the slightest notion why you asked for it.
