Initially tricky as the report was all over the place, BUT after a conversation with the Director he could see the issues that needed addressing. The desktop report is now 'Court ready' Serviceable and Helpful for me, the claimant, to see how they used their experience and knowledge to consider the faults.
WELL done Scotia. A good job

Unfortunately, my experience has been very frustrating due to the lack of communication. I had to call several times just to try to get a response, and I also sent several emails, but despite repeated attempts, I still struggled to get anywhere.Overall, I’m disappointed with the level of customer service and communication.

Do not use these!! 2 SEPERATE CAR INSPECTIONS CARRIED OUT BY THEM BOTH APPARENTLY HAD FAULTS!
BOTH CARS THEN INSPECTED ELSEWHERE WITH NO FAULTS PRESENT! sums it up really!!

Major issues with my Mazda CX-5 and unable to be driven since before new year with suspected head gasket issue. Finance company required forensic inspection so I went to Scotia who carried out a thorough job and thankfully as a result, the car has been rejected by dealership and taken back. Thanks again for a great service.

Awful business. How these people are allowed to operate is beyond me. Complete dishonesty and fabrication of reports to support whoever is paying them. Finance companies use this company and are in there pocket to get reports tailored to there needs. Really is time trading standards got on to these scum bags. Corporate bullying at its best!!!

Save your money and go somewhere else. I would give zero stars if I could.
The report I received from Scotia Independent Car Specialists was not just poor it was inaccurate and misleading in several key areas.
For example, their report stated that the brakes were “scorched,” despite the fact they had only recently been replaced a few months prior (around September/October). This is simply incorrect and shows a lack of proper inspection or attention to detail.
They also attempted to place blame on me for “failing to maintain the vehicle,” which is completely untrue. The car had been maintained, and there was no fair basis for that conclusion.
Another major inaccuracy related to the coolant leak. Their report claimed there was no coolant present, despite the vehicle having been off the road and sat in a garage for weeks prior to their inspection. There was coolant in the vehicle when it was left, which was later confirmed by BMW. This raises serious concerns about how their assessment was carried out.
When I challenged these points with evidence, they refused to amend or correct their report. Instead of taking responsibility, I was told I would be charged £80 per hour just for them to review their own mistakes.
As a direct result of these inaccuracies, I was unable to rely on the report to pursue support elsewhere and ended up paying thousands of pounds out of pocket for repairs that should not have been my responsibility.
Overall, the experience felt completely one sided and unfair. When a report is clearly wrong, you expect a professional company to correct it not dismiss it and attempt to charge more.
I would not trust their reports or recommend their services to anyone.

I had a water pump die and put my car out of action - finance company arranged this lot to "inspect" my car, for which it was a 10 minute "look", plug in and the engineer asked me to start the car (I was reticent to, but he said it would "ok"). Get an email from the finance company dismissing my complaint on the basis of a factually incorrect report - in the report it states the car was NOT started - when it was. A 10 minute "look" cannot diagnose a water pump issue (it was leaking and was clearly leaking), but with zero strip down - the finance company relied upon a lie - so that puts the rest of the report into question about it's trustworthiness. Next time I'll pay for my own, the finance company aren't trustworthy based on using this company!

Horrendous not easy to work with, made 1 payment and they never "received" and then when second payment was done the technission left before my disabled mother could get to the door so have lost a total of £400 for nothing using these guys

This company as with many other independent assessors are in league with car finance companies - use truly independent people by searching iaea-online

They promise you everything but don’t remember a thing after you paid. Like the questions the engineer was meant to address were not addressed properly- the report is vague and not sufficient and they make a bunch full of empty promises and then send useless reports. Also they say the write mechanical reports without actually looking at any mechanics. The engineer will walk around the car, ask how many miles it has, if it has mot and then leaves again. Literally zero inspection and then the report says that nothing can be determined. Absolutely useless!

Honest advice, fully recommend their service.

After having trouble with my car and the dealership I had scotia do an independent inspection on it and with the help of James C. I won my case! Thank you for your help and expertise.

A follow up to a previous review I have submitted. I went through the Financial Ombudsman with a complaint against Close Finance who used Scotia for an independent review of issues I had raised. Everything they raised I had the work done at quite a substantial cost, knowing very well it was not the issue, and after all work been done, I still had the issues I had raised from the start. Despite having factual evidence to show this to the Financial Ombudsman, they said Close had done nothing wrong and neither had Scotia, so I could go to small courts to make a claim if I wanted. As I did not pay Scotia I cannot hold them to account and Close just ignore me. Basically they are all in this together, Close get the report they need to close the case, and Scotia get the inspection work, then after nearly a year or providing factual information the Financial Ombudsman say there is nothing they can do, go check their feed back as well, its interesting.
All I can say, and I have checked with Trading Standards as long as I share the truth and can back it up which I can, I can make others aware. So if you get a survey done by Scotia on behalf of a finance company, either pay for a second opinion ( believe me I wish I had done that, but trusted the process as I was so confident in what was wrong) or make sure they get it into a garage and do a proper check. What I had wrong could never have been identified by a roadside check, and every garage I have shared this story with, have laughed and said "they got you" you are not the first...Its cost me thousands to sort the issues and I would have to pay for the small courts cost, so I put this down to experience, and if my feedback helps just one person to me its worth it. I was also glad to hear that Trading Standard although they will not disclose how many and what for, have had other complaints about Scotia and if they continue they are legally bound to investigate, how long that will take who knows, but all I can say is let them know if you feel you have had an unfair assessment. Scotia can maybe show they have done everything above board, I am in no way saying they are falsifying information, I am just sharing my experience that I had with them

I had a great experience with Scotia Independent Vehicle Inspectors. James and Aaron were lovely, very knowledgeable, and a huge help during a 12-month dispute with my finance company. Their clear, professional inspection made all the difference. Highly recommend!

We were instructed to use this company due to a court order that had to be jointly agreed.
I can honestly say these guys know what they are talking about and how the Court works.
James arranged for Nigel to come to our home and do a report on a camper van. He actually picked up on things like the engine that were not picked up on in previous reports from other companies. Don’t believe all you read on reviews. Thanks to your professionalism I won my case.

Have just had an inspection done through finance company. A scruffy bloke called phill turnt up with his wife in the car. And a note pad crumpled up. He had no idea what the inspection was for so I had to tell him the issues. I showed him a report from my local garage on the brakes of my car after 3 weeks of purchasing the car we had issues and a report was done and photos taken which said the abs sensor is that corroded the wheel hub may have to be broken to get it off and how badly corroded the brake discs were with photos . So according to Phill the inspector he ignoref 2071this and put down the brakes were rusty as the cars been stood still for so long. The inspection lasted 5 minutes he took a few blurry photos and that was it . Absolute joke of a company for what they acclaim to do. Working in favour of the finance company

Absolute scammers! The engineer they sent out was either an absolute clown of biased in the dealers favour! Did not call me when he arrived as promised carried out a so called inspection without me present.Test drive the car for one mile! My car was previously inspected by a main dealer and an independent specialists both confirming over £2600 worth of electrical issues and a rattling engine and failing flywheel.Also a buckled from wheel that cannot be balanced at my local tire shop.
There are also numerous fault codes stored on the cars ecu that correspond to the mechanical faults which he said were not present when he plugged in his diagnostics equipment.
I have owned over 40 cars and am a keen mechanic I just refused to fix this car as it was in my ownership for a matter of months and still under warranty.
However I have just replaced a faulty intake Vanos solenoid and a circlip on the exhaust solenoid myself and hey presto the engine no longer rattles! The flywheel is being repaired under warranty.
Both issues that this idiot claims were not present!

Contacted Scotia regarding an ongoing issue with my car, expecting to book a full inspection. Instead, I ended up speaking directly with one of their in-house engineers who gave me proper advice straight away.

He told me exactly what steps to take before spending a penny, and I followed it. The car has never run smoother.
What impressed me most is that they could have easily taken my money, but instead they diagnosed the likely issue over the phone and helped me fix it myself.

They got back to me quickly, put me straight through to someone who knows what they’re talking about, and didn’t try to upsell or push an inspection I didn’t need.

These guys genuinely care about doing the right thing.
Not cowboys, not salesmen, actual professionals.

Highly recommend.

These people are criminals. They lie and they manipulate reports. They contradict themselves and when they’re caught out on their contradictions they lie even more. They’re a morally bankrupt organisation who are just there to take money. Not to actually inspect vehicles.

Car has been inspected, but apparently no issue found. Two garages have contradicted your report. Also what was asked to be inspected was not inspected. The Garages reports that have said different.....Avoid!!!!! ALSO you have any Email to contact on the bottom of the inspection sheet and the email dont receive......Info@scotiavehicleinspection says it all!!! Sounds like a pure scam.

All evidence has now been sent to trading standards after Legal firm is now involved for other reasons but the legal advisor has found issues on the documentation and report.
