I booked an inspection with this outfit via the company who provide finance on the vehicle concerned. The inspector came in a small car with probably no tools. His inspection consisted of plugging in some small computer and running the car. Needless to say he said there is no fault. He claimed to have looked under the bonnet which he did not because I was watching him from the window. When I went out I felt the bonnet of the car and it felt very hot. I said to him I think something is overheating. The reply was that the car wouldn't overheat and I was talking rubbish. 35mins inspection. I would have been better getting one of my cats to do the inspection.

Contacted the company looking for an inspection & had a very thorough discussion about issues with my dodgy Volvo V70. They went to great lengths to explain they wouldn't take my money until they were pretty convinced I had a reasonable case. In the end their Report convinced Financial Ombudsman who found in my favour. I don't understand all the negative comments, these guys totally know their stuff. I guess if some people don't get the right outcome they need someone to blame :-)

Please avoid this company, it is untrustworthy and totally unreliable. The man who inspected my car told me I was sold a dodgy car after he done a very short drive and even advised me to claim a refund and money we've spent for repairs. He made me comfortable that the outcome of the report will be on our side but when the car finance sent us the vehicle report, it was totally opposite . Made you think what happened behind close door between the car finance and the Scotia Vehicle Inspector. A complete biased report

Absolutely fantastic having had trouble with a vehicle. We needed to obtain an independent vehicle inspection. They came out prompt gave a full and honest detailed report which went to the ombudsman. We won our case because of them. Well worth the Money, in the first instance because we are getting it back, under the claim. we could not have done this with out there help having been being backed into a corner by the finance company. My advice is get an independent report, these guys could were polite knew what they were talking about did every thing they could. So a huge thankyou to every one. i have no hesitation in using them again. Thankyou.

Spoke to James who was so helpful in my next steps before getting an inspection. After his advice, if needed I will definitely be giving him a call. Thanks again.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to Scotia and the assessor for the professional inspection that they did on my hyandai Tucson which had a faulty gear box I can't thank you enough thank you guys.

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about to be honest. My finance company allocated Scotia to assess my vehicle, and the experience went 'good'. Assessor came a day early, was a friendly chap and knew his stuff. Exactly what he told me on the day was on his report and that report confirmed my car has a fault that in his expert opinion, was present at point of sale.

The only bad feedback I have about Scotia, is that it took them a week to send the report to the finance company, after it was promised to be next day. But apart from this issue with Administration, everything else was fine.

Car was inspected on Thurday 18th May. Was told that the guy who done it would write the report in Thursday night, called today and low and behold it hasn't been received by Scotia, so why say they were going to write it and then not? Absolute carry on between them and Car Finance 247 trying to get anything resolved

I have used Scotia twice now for pre-purchase inspections. The service couldn’t be better - I was given good guidance from James in the early stages about some models to avoid, and when I found something passing muster, the inspection was arranged quickly . There was an opportunity to discuss with the inspector. Some minor issues were found which resulted in them being resolved before purchase.

Needed an inspection on my Jaguar for insurance purposes. James at Scotia was able to assist based on the video evidence I submitted, as well as providing some pretty comprehensive engine advice on the vehicle.
Really appreciated the time taken and assistance given.

James carswell is a complete crook, his new website now stops people from putting up honest reviews of their dealings with this robber. I don't understand how any professional company would get so involved in writing so many reports on cars they have not seen. And the .gov website site proves that james is a complete LIAR. His website now let's him doctor his review like his reports. Complete rip off merchant

Awful experience. Man inspected my car at home and said I had been sold a dodgy car and I should have a full refund. Didn’t stay long at all and was friendly and seemed honest. Said he would send report off straight away usually takes 24 hours he said. Felt like everything was heading in the right direction. Almost a MONTH later the report comes through and is the complete opposite to what he stood and said at my home. Everything has turned against me and apparently I am to blame for the damage. Very suspicious as to what’s gone on with him and the garage behind closed doors and wouldn’t trust this service as far as I could throw it! Mr bullock being there “inspector “ do not trust him!

Honest, professional and incredibly knowledgable. Genuinely nice guy and was more interested in helping me rather than focusing on earning money from me. Legend!!!

Called up today to get an inspection booked in for my car hoping to get it fixed by the finance company. A very lovely man spoke to me about what has been going on and how if I went a head with it I would not get the answer I want and would have wasted my money.

He spoke with me for a while about what I can do next instead and gave amazing advice on what car to look for now.

It is nice to have a company giving out advice instead of just taking your money.

Given that reviews of this company are pretty binary - either 5 star or 1 star and not much in between - it's pretty obvious that reviewers fall into one or two camps: Scotia's inspection contributed to me winning my case or Scotia's inspection contributed to me losing my case. Whether my vehicle ends up being rejected or not, I am basing my review on my experience so far before my case is resolved because I think it's right to judge on the merits of the experience which have been excellent.
I raised my concerns about our finance company using Scotia when I read reviews on here and James called me personally to explain and allay my fears. The day before the inspection I was contacted by the assigned inspector and he explained the process, the potential outcomes and what he needed in order to complete his inspection. I met him at the vehicle's location and he thoroughly inspected the part and told me he would file his report over the weekend to save any more waiting. Excellent customer service and I definitely left with the opinion that the inspector was indeed independent. The report has since been filed and the dealer and I are both aware of the intended outcome and I have been offered a copy of the report to review myself. I am in no doubt that this company is legitimate and independent, and would highly recommend them.

Great advice from a very friendly gentleman. Told me there and then that an inspection would be unsuccessful and he didn't want to take any money from me as that's not how he operates. Very trustworthy, will be using in future.
