James clearly knows his stuff as a mechanic
James was spot-on with identifying the problem over the phone long before inspecting my vehicle that it wasn’t as claimed by Nissan for 5 years (!) that it was my handbrake module causing my car to jam, but in fact it was my callipers! I can’t fault this company for their expertise who are clearly mechanics and not rip-off technicians like Nissan who only know how to work a diagnostic computer according to their handbook. James even liaised with the Motor Ombudsman and a 3rd Nissan technician to highlight my callipers WERE the problem. Now to get the money back from Nissan via a small claims court as Nissan continue to play hard ball with not paying me the long overdue £1600 refund despite the Motor Ombudsman supporting the case in my favour…!
CHEATING company
CHEATING company. Don’t trust, you will get stressed. They work together with broker and dealership so they won’t help. Car didn’t start and they done a fake inspection. How can they do inspect a car without even starting the car? The person came over to only spend 5 minutes, inspected my vehicle and could see the errors and said he will mention all this, but what he wrote down on the report was opposite and favour to the dealership. I won’t leave this matter and will go to the court and proof all with evidence.
Joke of a company they should be out of…
Joke of a company they should be out of business, completely false reports they basically work for the finance company don't let them tell you any different, one inspector saying one thing another inspector saying another thing, i will be complaining about this company to the motor ombudsman, do not let this company look at your vehicle!!!!
The finance company authorised an…
The finance company authorised an inspection of my vehicle which I have been complaining about since day 2 of ownership, fast forward 6 months and after raising a complaint with finance company they sent Scotia to inspect vehicle. I was happy to accommodate and felt relieved I was getting somewhere but I was wrong!! The inspector came out checked fluids and took pictures and walked round car. Report came out saying car faults down to wear and tear! Even thou inspector agreed in front of witness that undeniable that car was sold with faults. Report came out saying black smoke was seen from rear on start up but car wasn’t even started 🤷🏼♂️ melted light cluster was there and working 🤷🏼♂️ old bulb still in there in 2 bits so would need miracle to be seen working! This was just the tip of the report and the rest is cringe worthy that a company would put there name to it! Clearly false information and fabricated report in favour of the finance company. Don’t accept them to inspect your vehicle and ask for different company. Shocking!!
Reliable service.
The engineer was extremely helpful in explaining the process and diagnosing the issue at hand. The report was also compiled in timely manner. Excellent service.
Scotia Car Diagnostics: A Lifesaver for a Neurodivergent Mum with a Disabled Daughter
As a neurodivergent mum with a disabled daughter, I often face challenges navigating complex situations, especially when it comes to car repairs. However, Scotia Car Diagnostics proved to be a lifesaver in my recent ordeal with my car.
From the moment I contacted them, I was met with understanding and compassion. I spoke with Fraser, the vehicle inspection handler, who patiently listened to my concerns and explained the diagnostic process in a way that was easy for me to understand.
Ben, the technician who performed the diagnostic on my car, was equally professional. He took the time to explain the issues he found. He also understood the urgency of my situation and worked diligently to complete the report as quickly as possible.
Thanks to Fraser and Ben's exceptional service, I now have a comprehensive diagnostic report that I can present to my finance company and the dealership. This report has been instrumental in getting the repairs approved and ensuring that my car is safe for me and my daughter.
Communication: Fraser's clear and compassionate communication put me at ease and made the entire process less stressful.
Time Management: Ben's efficient and timely completion of the diagnostic report allowed me to move forward with the repairs quickly.
Efficiency and Quality: The diagnostic report was detailed, accurate, and provided the necessary information to resolve the car issues.
Overall:
Scotia Car Diagnostics is a company that truly understands the needs of its customers, especially those with unique challenges. Their exceptional service and professionalism have made a world of difference for me and my daughter. I am eternally grateful to Fraser and Ben for their outstanding support.
Gave me a price before they knew what i wanted
I rang to get an inspection arranged and spoke to a lady that only asked for my email address to send to booking form email to and i had to fill out some info for a quote of price. I received the email a few minutes later (whihch i liked) but the email said the cost of inspection would be £195, before they know what level of inspection i require or what vehicle is being inspected.
My car blew up advantage sent them for…
Update : as my cctv caught the fraud offences taking place Scotia have decided to threaten me via email! Although all on private property my house and driveway showing fraud of a non inspection taking place they believe they can resort to threats that I have committed and offence! Police notified fraud team notified and trading standards . Avoid them or rely on your ing doorbells of cctv for evidence as it can be used in court for fraud.! My car blew up advantage sent them for an inspection although I produced 2 independent reports saying that the vehicle was not fit for purpose when bought or worth the money. An elderly gentleman came out and claimed advantage never shared the reports - I proceeded to share these he claims there was no oil in the car however no oil light was and there was no leak visible he claims it’s a second hand engine but he must be a magician because he was there 10 mins tried to start it couldn’t looked under the bonnet and left and said he could do nothing on the inspection as the car needed to be taken away and stripped. I recorded him and have video footage of his so called checked - advantage won’t share the report nor will scotia theu claim I’m still liable we will have at the financial obdusman trading standards and action fraud ! The video footage with my reports show fraud by this company and that of advantage finance too. I will be taking this as far as I need to advice is to film everything I did is how I caught them
Absolutely shocking!
Absolutely shocking!! Came out to investigate my car for the finance company as I’ve had my car for 5 months and suspected timing chain has skipped!! The guy who came out to me said his never know this to have to my type of engine… the worst part about the whole investigation is… only coolant, oil was checked and photos was taken… but yet the company cannot do there homework or know what they are talking about as they are claiming it’s a wear and tear!! Even though I’ve got to main dealer for the advice and they have stated LIFETIME CHAIN - NO SERVICE INTERVALS!! But yet still claiming it’s my fault!! Was treated so unfairly throughout this whole process!!
Above and beyond
100% would recommend Scotia, I contacted them on the back of my wet belt failing on my ford fiesta. The process could not have been simpler, give them all the details engineer came out and did an examination. I had the report within a few days the team have gone above and beyond and I would definitely use again but hope I won't need to.
Thank you
Believe the bad reviews..
Believe the bad reviews... I wish I did!
Yes, these inspectors seem to be either completely incompetent or totally in the pocket of finance companies/dealerships.
I'm been having issues with a BMW 8 Series since I bought it, raised it with the finance company as a last hope as I was having no luck resolving the issues myself. They arranged for Scotia to carry out an inspection of the vehicle. The inspection was carried out on the 7th of May. It's only today that the finance company are saying they've got the report with some clarification.
Nigel the inspector that took a look at my vehicle was extremely concerned about the brake fault on my vehicle, telling me to drive my car sparingly as it's a "ticking timebomb'.
And what do you know, the report comes in today and there's no mention of that whatsoever! The guy on the phone tells me there's nothing they can do as the car is satisfactory 😂 how can it be satisfactory when Nigel told me its a ticking timebomb 😂.
I'm not doing this because things aren't going my way, the report states to get BMW's input on some issues which I will, but I find it absolutely shocking I was told to "drive my car sparingly" as it's "a ticking timebomb" and then after taking 2 months to get this report done there's no mention of that at all even when he explicitly told me he would make note of that and shook my hand!
I read these reviews and thought to myself I should record the conversation with the guy, I wish I did and I strongly advise you all to do the same! Absolute fraud.
Positive experience
I had a really positive experience with this company who completed the report on my vehicle. It was hassle free and completed within a timely manner.

I needed an inspection doing to my car…
I needed an inspection doing to my car urgently. Scotia, where very quick to react in booking and providing the report I needed. The report was very detailed and helped me in providing the evidence I needed. Although I hope never need the services of SCOTIA again, but if I do I would use without hesitation.
Thank you SCOTIA for everything.

Would give a zero star option if I could!!
I had my vehicle inspected by Phil from Scotia back in September. On the day of inspection, he test drove the car and was satisfied after driving less than a mile up the road that there was a serious issue with the suspension on the car.
He said he believed that the issue would have been ongoing for some time and said in his opinion the issue would have been present at point of purchase. We already knew this as we reported a suspension issue to the supplying dealer the day after we bought the car.
Phil said that he would write up the report that evening. I left it 2 weeks and I contacted my finance company and they still hadn’t received the report.
I had to make several calls to Scotia to chase for the report. I was told that Phil had completed reports for the other 2 cars that he inspected on the same day as mine and that I must of ‘slipped through the net’ …I have the benefit of the doubt as we’re only human and these things happen.
When the report was received - it was nothing at all like he reported on the day. He told me on the day that he would recommend that I didn’t drive it as it would be unsafe to do so. He told me that if I cornered too harshly the car could roll or the suspension could just collapse at any point. The report said nothing of the sort! He wrote in the report that there is no doubt that there is a suspension issue but he believed the issue to be fair wear and tear and that he thinks that the issue was not present at point of sale. It was all in favour of the dealer, almost like he had been paid off to write a dodgy report.
If you have an inspection by these guys and you’re not happy with it, I would highly recommend a company called Dekra. Very professional, good timescales and they reported back exactly as they told me on the day. I have now won my case for rejection of the vehicle with no thanks to Scotia.
Stay away from this totally biased…
Stay away from this totally biased based firm that are out all for the finance company , report received and so much left out to suit themselves and the finance company!!!!!! Beware folks don’t use this company told one thing by the engineer and the opposite reported 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Exploding Ecoboost
After my 5th Ecoboost wet-beltengine exploded, I thought it was about time I get a second opinion, Scotia came, saw and delivered. I found their staff particularly friendly and on the grounds of durability, I now have my 6th engine. Thank you Scotia 👌👍😊

to the attention of engineer Ray Dunkley, can you also explain to me how in 900 miles car bought from your customer Black Stone Motors rusted the camshafts with your experience as an engineer you should know that a car with 40k miles the engine it does not have to show signs of internal wear (rusted camshafts) in that report signed by you, you are contradicting yourself . you are aware about situation 👎👎👎👎👎👎
