Returned my “bedazzled” S30Pro
Purchased Seestar S30Pro from B&H. FedEx got it to me in two days. B&H and FedEx did great. Opened the S30Pro case to find silica gel beads dispersed everywhere (except inside the silica gel pouch). Seestar inexplicably uses paper pouches and packs them next to the metal tripod. I suppose it goes well for many, but I’m finding I’m far from alone in experiencing ruptured pouch bead dispersal. The telescope was encrusted in silica beads, which had been jostling and grinding since China, as far as I can tell. I’m sending mine back to B&H for an exchange, a process likely to take weeks.
Seestar: pay the penny extra to upgrade your paper gel packs to cloth. This return should cost you more than the upgrade would have for many dozens of telescopes. I’m not paying $700 for a bedazzled S30Pro that “should be okay” despite the ruptured gel pack dispersing beads everywhere.
