Selco Builders Warehouse Reviews 

Im a sole trader, handy person.
Im going to be blunt and honest.
So I've used selco in the past, unfortunately they don't always meet my needs, out of stock is the most common. I can't afford to waste my time going around builders merchants to find what im after, also, why do we pay more for items down south? Having said that, the products I have bought have been of a good quality and at reasonable price. I would like to stick with 1 supplier but price will always be a factor in any building work. So my recommendation would be, price checks on other merchants and try not to run out of materials. Thanks HANDY ANDY

Alexa at Peterborough branch was a life saver, urgently needed wire mesh, she price matched and had everything prepared. Professional service knew exactly what I needed.

Customer service is the best. The staff , specially Sharan was really helpful and gave me good advice regarding my shopping. Thanks a lot

Excellent service and delivery

Well I have been a customer of Selco since the day they opened in Cardiff. But not much longer. I have over 9 months struggled to get my month end statements unless I spend time contacting head office. Even got the branch manager involved to no avail. They soon send demands for payments when they have not sent the statement first. Only way is to use a different merchant that wants my custom. If you treat your loyal customers like this you won’t have many left with the local competitor in Cardiff that are available

Unfortunately we now live in a world where straight timber is a bit of a myth.
Id been to 6 local timber merchants looking for straight 3x3par for a project, had to be straight, no joy anywhere.
Spoke to jack and Marie at selco Liverpool to see if there was anything they could do to help, they gets in touch with their suppliers and managed to get some lovely straight 3x3par delivered to store within 3 days ready for me to collect
U don't get that kind of customer service in B&Q

Probably the best Selco I’ve ever been to.

I am writing to highly commend Regi - a staff member at Old kent road branch. He was very helpful me and went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met.

Jazz sorted us out with a last minute delivery and was playing with the kids

Anna help me a lot with quote at Thurrock branch.instead of walking through the shop and checking prices I tell her what I need and she done a quote for me at the till. no hassle. time saved. good prices and quick service

Deliveries un reliable, told each time Deliveries will be made at a certain times, they never keep to there word no communication between store regards late Deliveries, had people waiting on site many times

I have just spent the last 8-weeks shopping for a total house Refurb and I couldn’t fault the staff at Selco, close to the Hanger Lane Gyratory roundabout. All the staff are helpful and do their best to help, but there is one star that outshines them all. If you want genuine help, knowledge and service, you should seek out Rumit, an absolute star. As a novice, trying to procure materials and tools to assist my team of builders, I could not have asked for more. 10 out of 10.

superb service and very knowledgable staff

We brought an extractor unit 3 months ago, which has stopped working, we paid for our electrician to check the connections & he diagnosed a faulty extractor unit.
Took the unit & the receipt back to Selco Portsmouth whereby I was giving a load of excuses as to why they couldn’t do a straight swap or refund, they had to ‘gain’ a code from the manufacturer I was held up in the store for 45 minutes and came out with no extractor or refund, I was told that Selco’s T&C’s override’s the 2015 Consumer rights act that says a consumer is entitled to an exchange or refund as the contract is with the STORE, NOT the manufacturer.
Selco have informed us today that we have to pick up the faulty unit have it reinstalled at our cost and then the manufacturer can send someone out to repair!!
As a woman being dealt with by 2 operatives who had zero interest in trying to resolve the issue, I walked away feeling belittled and that my complaint was not taken seriously at all.
I’m actually disgusted by the way I have been treated, and information given today just backs up the pack of lies given by the operatives on my initial visit.
Shame on you Selco, abysmal behaviour. I would not buy from this company again as they seem to make up a load of misinformation to suit themselves and themselves only, lovely way to treat your lowly customers.

Went to Selco, Mitcham on Tuesday 23/6/2026 with my colleague.
The checkout cashier we initially went to,said she was still serving a customer. While waiting and chatting with my colleague, another male staff came to open up another checkout terminal. He turned to me and said "what are you saying asxhole"
I was shocked and confused. I asked him if he was talking to me,he said yes.I asked him why the asxhole? He just laughed in my face. Another staff member came up and started harassing us, asking why I put the camera in his face and why was I recording the incident. (He's standing nearly 2mtrs away from me) We told him it was for our safety and evidence. He went outside. We finished our business rolled our goods to the car. The Selco staff that went out earlier came up to us in the carpark shouting and harassing us ,wanting to view my video recording, I refused. He then threatened to take my phone. His colleague came out to ask him to get back inside the warehouse.
The deputy store manager witnessed a large part of what happened, he said he's looking into the incident and will get back to me..
I am still traumatised.

Selco, St Albans, I must leave a review for the staff at St Albans branch Selco. I have been in this store a few times now and can honestly say they are so helpful and always ready to assist, sawing wood so you can fit in your car. Offering advice and ready to help. The best customer service experience I have received for a long time and a credit to the Selco name.
