VERY Worrying Misses on Services and Reporting
Firstly, I have used this Audi garage for a couple of decades now and I have to say the front of house staff have always been very lovely, polite and professional.
I recently took the car for a service at the end of July and it came back with a very detailed report of the service in the traffic light system - everything was GREEN (all good on their traffic light explanation) save the tyres which, whilst not illegal, were recommended replacing very soon (AMBER on the report).
Anyway, fast forward 1-2 weeks later and a warning light came on so I booked it in again - next available service was 2 weeks later. I was nervous to drive it whilst the light was showing as I wasn't entirely sure what the issue was so luckily, I had access to another car.
During the next service the diagnostic report came back with several items RED. I expected the tyres and whatever the warning light was to be flagged up and sorted out but not several items including the brake pads and discs, that were GREEN in the prior report became RED and dangerous and illegal. It turns out my previous, detailed report from a few weeks that stated it had all been checked and was GREEN they were, in fact, not checked. At all. Who knows what else was not properly checked at the July service.
When I collected the car after the second service, I was just given the bill. No mention of what had happened re this being missed. Having to ask again, I wasn't told much more except there was a bit of a fracas that afternoon at the garage. I am not really sure what this means. No mention of any further investigation into this. No manager checking in on this. All I was told this time a senior service team member had taken the check and so that's how it was noticed. Very worrying then if they are not always carrying out the services...or supervising apprentices.
I do think the manager(s) should have stepped in here; this is an issue, that needed a lot more attention and explanation. I appreciate incidents happen but where is the accountability?
I was unsure as to write this as it feels fairly negative but I do think it is too concerning not to mention and also so unfair to blame the apprentice when their job is to be taught (and learn from those in higher positions) and not to be part of a culture of blame. It is concerning how many other cars may have been 'overlooked'. And the lack of accountability/visibility on the management level really bothers me when safety and trust are such an issue.

Shocking after sales experience
Shocking after sales experience. Amazing when it came to sales(I guess they care about commision) yet when the car tyres had unexplainable degrading 14-15 months later they were unwilling to help or support and left me to fork the bill to change all 4 car tyres. This was a brand new £70k+ car and I have never in my 20years of driving had to change car tyres after just 14months of driving. Avoid Audi Hitchin at all cost. Clearly only care about sales.
