Charging speed can depend heavily on the charger and cable being used. Most newer smartphones require a compatible fast-charging plug and lead, typically 20W or higher, to achieve their expected charging speeds. Using a lower-powered charger can result in considerably longer charging times.

Features such as Optimised Battery Charging can also deliberately manage or slow charging at certain points to help protect the battery and reduce long-term ageing.
