Only subscribe if you want a world of hassle to unsubscribe. I’m on hold over 40minutes over 3 calls and I’m STILL not unsubscribed!

Usual delaying tactics that I would expect from an Instagram type subscription - not one from what I thought was a reputable name.

Not possible to cancel online, introductory subscription silently rolls over into something much more expensive.

It is remarkably easy to subscribe to The Times and The Sunday Times online, but cancelling is a completely different matter.

There is no straightforward online cancellation button. Instead, I had to wait between 30 minutes and an hour to speak to customer service. When eventually connected, I was asked a succession of questions, including for a “CPN” number that had never been clearly explained to me. After answering the questions, I was transferred to a separate cancellation team and expected to wait in another queue.

In my experience, the process appears designed to frustrate customers and discourage them from cancelling. A reputable digital subscription service should allow customers to cancel online as easily as they subscribed.

This is completely unacceptable conduct from a major national newspaper. I would strongly advise prospective subscribers to consider the cancellation process before providing their card details.

Cancelling a subscription is WAY more difficult than it should be. Not good.

Requires a phone call to cancel. Took only 7 minutes on the line but still should be doable online.

Allow to subscribe on line but force you to phone to cancel. It took me >20 minutes to achieve my aim-approx 10 minutes in a queue followed by 10 minutes in a pointless discussion where I was encouraged to stay for a smaller monthly charge. This simply shouldn’t be allowed.

Disgusting Customer Service on line from Emmanuelle when I came to cancel my subscription. I signed up briefly to look at an article and when I realised that there would be a large jump after my trial period I went to cancel online. Unfortunately you can't do that - you have to call their customer service line. If any of these people have been trained in "customer service" I would be incredibly surprised.
The person who answered the phone claimed it was nonsensical for me to sign up and then cancel so quickly, tried to upsell me to stay. When I said "I'm not looking to be upsold to" he was patronising, rude and spoke over me (and down to me) and continued in a passive aggressive tone. I asked him is name and he said - "I already told you once at the beginning of the call".

Shocked that a newspaper as well established as The Times has people manning their phones who are so incredibly rude and dismissive. Will I be signing up again? Absolutely not.

I noticed an unwanted subscription and cancelled it on the very same day the charge was made, immediately requesting a refund since I had clearly not used the service.

The refund request was nevertheless rejected. Regardless of the amount involved, I find this approach disappointing and not particularly customer-friendly. From such a well-established and respected newspaper, I would have expected greater transparency and flexibility in handling a subscription cancelled immediately after an unintended charge.

Got a subscription to print edition. Occasionally try to look at on line stuff, takes too long to load, feel myself aging as I wait then give up.

Offer free subscription to the online paper for a period of time, however have to call an 0800 number to cancel as have no easy way to cancel in your account login. Many subscription services offer online cancellation so I believe this is deliberate to try to discourage busy people from cancelling easily and hence earn extra revenue.

Also in my opinion the clickbait advert articles to draw you in are not as well thought out or interesting to read once you have the subscription.

Trial subscription scam. Literally scammers. This is not a trial. This is a way to hook you in and take your money even if you don’t use their service. Sad times!

So frustrating that TheTimes will happily allow you to sign up online but force you into cancelling via office hours phone line. Their staff cannot hear me despite multiple phone calls and I am unable to cancel via email or their WhatsApp channel. Utterly infuriating and seems like fraud. Some of the worst customer service I’ve encountered. I used to like reading the paper but this has totally killed it for me. I will not only not subscribe again but I won’t buy the hardcopy now either. 0/5

The same experience as many others here. I took up a free trial and then was charged for the 1 month subscription with no warning.; unlike other papers, they refuse to refund the money taken . It’s essentially a subscription trap in that the terms and conditions of a subscription are not made clear, there is no reminder of the end of a free trial and no notification that they will take money from your account. It is a difficult cancellation process as you are forced to call them and often there is a long queue on the phone too. They refuse a refund citing their t and c’s which they have never sent you. Practice that will be against the law in January I hope when the new subscriptions law comes into place. It’s despicable practice .

I signed up for a student deal at £10 per month for 3 years. After 3 years, with no notice or email, I was charged £10 for the month. I spoke on the phone and email and nothing has been done to rectify this. I tried to cancel within a few hours of payment, but still they refused.

A truly terrible customer service experience, I've now fully cancelled my subscription and moved elsewhere, along with other members of my household on principle of how poor this is.

Absolutely terrible customer service overall. Signed up for £1 for 3 months trial. To cancel you have to ring them... in total it took 4 calls to cancel. First time I was told because I signed up with Gmail email address that "they couldn't touch it" and I had to cancel through Google play store subscriptions - This absolutely was not the case. All the while the website crashes meaning you can't access your customer number necessary for the call. I was then told when I requested to cancel after 11 days, that they couldn't cancel the further two £1 payments and that I should cancel through my bank and that "they would send some letters". This is plainly illegal and against UK law under the '14 day cooling off period'. I then rung up again to double check that this wasn't the case, and was told again that the further payments couldn't be cancelled, until I reminded him of my rights under UK law and that I was within the 14 days. After which he just repeated himself that the subscription was cancelled, did not comment on whether more payments would be taken, and refused to address what I was previously told, choosing to repeat himself over and over, rudely insinuating that "I should not worry". He then asked me to read out the cancellation email to him word by word, and then said any further questions ring customer services! I rung customer services and they were able to confirm this for me. Overall this is ridiculous and I'm glad that the refund I got is processing so I never have to give them a penny. Bunch of fobbing off b******s. I literally cannot believe how shocking the guy's attitude was, the cheek for him to take me to task for simply questioning the unlawful information that his company, and he himself, provided me. No apology, no help. He clearly knew how the system worked but refused to simply explain it to me even after I made it clear I was quite worried and just wanted some clarification. What an absolute joke.

News is generally good but comments are scrutinised and deleted for anything that does not meet their compliance. My comments are auto deleted because they think my name is wrong. But they won’t say what this is. No response after 48 hrs despite promises to respond by email. Tried chat twice still no resolution. Real name policy on comments is not a good policy if you have a distinctive name.

Used the Times for a couple of years and now there is nothing worth reading.
The cancellation process involves you having to telephone a pushy team who try all ways to get you to stay.
Managed to eventually cancel and will never return
