Joined for the netball, stayed for the community. You Play gives you regular exercise, new friendships and a proper mental break from everyday life. I wish Id found it years ago.

The difference is the purpose behind it. This isn't simply organizing netball matchesits creatiing a reason for women to get out, get active, meet people and have something of their own each week. The benefits go far beyond the final score.

It's very telling when a company has an influx of 5 star reviews within a short period of time. Trustpilot should do more to make sure that companies aren't using fake reviews to fudge the overall rating.

Traditional sport often assumes youre already fit, confident and experienced. This doesnt. It gives women a way back into exercise without the pressure or intimidation. For anyone who hasnt played sport for years, that difference is massive.

This review is based entirely on my personal experience with the league, which has unfortunately left me feeling extremely upset and disappointed.

Around a year ago, I received a two-week ban. I accepted the decision and served the full suspension, although I did not feel the situation was handled fairly. Before this happened, I had repeatedly raised concerns about issues within the league, including umpiring and contact during games. I felt that my concerns were not properly addressed and, over time, I began to feel increasingly singled out because I had spoken up.

Despite feeling the original two-week ban was unfair, I respected the decision and served the full suspension. I then left the league.

Almost a year later, I decided to return because I missed playing netball and had friends playing in the Sunday league. I deliberately chose not to be captain this time because I wanted to avoid any previous issues and simply enjoy playing.

I played two games and genuinely did everything that had previously been asked of me. I tried to keep my comments and reactions under control, did not take on a leadership role and simply wanted to play and have fun with my friends.

Despite this, after only two games, I was permanently banned.

What I find particularly difficult to understand is how a two-week ban that I served and completed a year ago has now effectively become a permanent exclusion. I was not given an opportunity to discuss any concerns or adjust my behaviour. I was simply told that, because of my previous history, I was no longer welcome to play.

I am also deaf which both of which the organisation has been made aware of. I have always tried to be open about the difficulties these can cause, particularly with communication and emotional regulation in a fast-paced sporting environment. I feel this was not properly understood or considered.

I completely understand that leagues need rules and that players should be held accountable for their behaviour. I am not suggesting otherwise. However, I believe everyone deserves to be treated fairly, listened to when they raise concerns, and given a genuine opportunity to move forward after serving any disciplinary sanction.

Personally, I feel that I served my punishment, took almost a year away, returned with the intention of making a fresh start, followed what was expected of me, and was still judged on my past.

I had hoped to simply enjoy playing netball again with friends. Instead, I have been left feeling unheard, singled out and extremely disappointed by how the situation has been handled

Some organisers provide courts, umpires and fixtures. These guys provides a community. That might sound like a small difference, but it completely changes the experience. You feel like you belong to something rather than simply turning up for a game.

What I love about YPN is that it knows exactly who it is for. There are already clubs and leagues for serious players. YPN focuses on the huge number of women who want to exercise, socialise and play for enjoyment. Sport needs far more of this.

The difference between this organisation and other organisers is that the social side doesnt feel like an afterthought. Its central to the whole experience. The netball gets you moving, but the friendships, laughter and sense of belonging are what keep you coming back.

What these guys have created doesn't really exist elsewhere in sport. Its competitive enough to be exciting but social enough to be welcoming. That balance is difficult to achieve, and for me YPN does it better than anything else I've tried.

Disgusting staff, disgraceful umpiring, literally kicked me out of the league because I was " too good " apparently after not playing for 16 years !!! Whilst leaving girls in the league that play in other leagues against me at the same standard, but seems that is ok for them to play there.
One umpire I have also played against in the past she actually swore at my team during the game and was the reason the entire league got shut down because her behaviour was unacceptable, this same umpire was the person that didn't want me in the league anymore. Along with two other girls on my team that also knew of her previous behaviour as they were there.
Absolutely disgusting!

Every community should have a YPN session nearby. It's so much more than netball-it's exercise, friendship, laughter and headspace all in one. A genuine community for women that I dont think already exists elsewhere in sport

You don't need to already be "sporty" to join. That's the whole point. It's a safe and welcoming way to get active with other women who are there for the same reasons-exercise, fun and connection

The big difference with YPN is that you don't feel like you need to already be a "netball person" to belong. It's designed for women who simply want to get active and do something enjoyable. That makes it far more accessible than many traditional leagues

YPN understands something many sports organisations miss: not every player is looking for promotion, trophies or elite competition. Sometimes women just want one hour a week out of the house to move, laugh, switch off and feel good. YPN delivers that brilliantly.

I loved every minute of it. It's the kind of experience every woman deserves. For me, it brought back something priceless: dedicated time for myself

women who just want to play, move, laugh and belong without everything becoming overly competitive. YPN has created that space, and it's brilliant

Netball has always existed in its own space - competitive and structured. What these ladies are creating feels different. It's a space for women who might not even see themselves as "netballers."
I'm a mum with a busy family life. I don't want the gym. I don't want pressure. I wanted community, tun, smiles and a bit of self-worth back.
Speaking to the women running the session, you genuinely feel their drive and passion to create something that didn't really exist before - a safe, positive space for women like me.
For that hour, it's just time for me.
And that's priceless.

There are lots of companies out there that can Organize a netball league. What makes these ladies different is the community and the reason behind it. It creates a genuine space for women who might otherwise not be exercising at all. For me, that makes it more than a league it makes it a movement.

I volunteered my time to umpire for the You Play Netball league at Backwell School. Along with another umpire,, we gave up playing for our own teams so that the league could continue running.

Unfortunately, after what I believe were several accidents on court, we raised concerns about player safety and asked whether there was a first aid kit available. The response we received in my experience was , “That’s not your problem.” As volunteers responsible for overseeing matches, this was extremely concerning and made us feel uncomfortable continuing to umpire.

After deciding to stop umpiring because of these concerns, we were informed by another player that we had been banned from playing in the league. We were never officially notified of this decision or provided with any explanation or reference to a rule or policy. We were simply told that the reason was that we had “not supported” the league, despite the fact that we had sacrificed playing for our own teams to help keep the league running.

This review isn’t because I want to return to the league—I don’t. It’s because I don’t want other volunteers or players to be treated the way we were. In my opinion Volunteers should be valued, player safety should be taken seriously, and decisions affecting players should be communicated openly and professionally.

Along side that in my experience the games are cancelled last minute very often!
After stopping umpiring we would turn up whilst I was still playing and the umpire would have no ball!

I have submitted a formal complaint and requested that it be reviewed by someone independent, as I believe these concerns deserve to be properly addressed.

YPN is exactly what women's community sport needs. No intimidating gym, no pressure to be an elite playrjust regular exercise, great people and a genuine sense of belonging. Every town should have one
