ZippyShell lost a full container of my…
ZippyShell lost a full container of my contents and still charged me $4,200. Contents worth $40,000. No response. Every time I call, they say they will let me know when they find and refuse to reverse the charges. They packed and left with 2 containers on June 29, 2023 and today is July 22.

Never again.....
I am writing this review as the movers for Zippy Shell are moving our belongings down to the "pod". The estimations provided by Zippy Shell is not even close to accurate for what their pod is able to fit. My wife and I live in a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment and we were advised that one pod will fit all of our belongings. We will be able to fit about half of our stuff into this pod.
Long story short, I called into their customer service and after waiting 20 minutes, a representative advised that we will have to get another pod.... AT THE PRICE OF 3.5K. Absolutely not........... She is having her supervisor reach out to us and we are waiting on them to call us. It will also cost us 800 dollars minimally to cancel, even though half of our stuff is loaded into the pod.
If Zippy Shell is able to work with us, I will update my review. As of right now, it is not promising.

I don’t understand how they continue to be a company. We called and booked 2 pods in January to be delivered at the end of June in Philadelphia. We had multiple calls with them verifying all of this 3 months, 1 month, 2 weeks before. They were supposed to show up Friday June 23rd between 8-noon. Noon came and went. My wife called customer service. They “sent a message to the facility”. The facility in Pottstown, PA never called back customer service but they insisted that it would arrive before 8 pm. Customer service sent 4 messages to the Pottstown, PA facility and never heard back. Well they never showed before 8 pm and when we tried to call they were now closed.
So at 8am on Saturday June 24th we started calling customer service. We had movers coming at 10 am. Customer service again said they would “send a message to the facility” I told them their messages must not work because they sent 4 already and nothing happened. I asked to talk to a supervisor. They couldn’t get one. So I hung up and called back and the next person got me a supervisor. The supervisor said he would call the facility manager. He got back on and said the facility manager would call me. 30 minutes later, no call. So I called back to customer service and he again called the facility manager who said he would call us back. It took him another 45 min to call back. When he did he said they are usually only able to deliver 1 pod at a time. I don’t know why this was brought up now for the first time since we booked 5 months prior and verified with them multiple times before. Then he said he “might be able to get you one pod later today”. We asked if it would be before noon since our movers were coming at 10 (right when I was finally talking to the facility manager). He laughed and said no. So we called Penske and found a moving van and a car trailer. It completely changed our plan. We had to go from Pennsylvania to Colorado and we were going to slowly drive across the county. Now I had to drive Penske truck and tow my car and then we had to return the Penske truck sooner than we had planned our trip. We canceled with zippy shell and they reimbursed us but that was it. Worst company ever. I can’t state enough that no one should ever use them. Dependability is kind of a big deal in moves and they clearly do not care at all about there customers. Not even a little bit. Awful experience. Should’ve listened to the other reviews. I guess that’s my fault.

The Worst Moving Experience of My Life
This has been the worst moving experience in my 60 plus years moving around the world. Zippy Shell thought they could do my household goods in one container, I told them no way. Then they quoted two containers. They are cheats and liars. The associate Gregory Forester took care of the contract. The packers/movers filled four containers. I discovered today they took a truck to the warehouse to fill the fifth container. I was told from day one there were only four containers. The local agent sent me a packing list for $3900. I had nearly all the packing materials which I bought from 1/2 Price Boxes, and I had packed the majority of my goods. The local agent is charging me for four wardrobes, which I purchased and packed myself. I purchased a TV box, he tried to charge for that, but ended up charging me $80 to put the TV in the box. They listed 50 pictures boxed, I do NOT have 50 pictures. Now since they claim they filled a fifth container without my knowledge nor approval, the price has increased from over $19,000 to well over $23,000. I am an 85 year old widow on a fixed income, which leads me to believe what they are doing is elder abuse. Now I find out today that it will take several days to have the goods shipped. I am in New York now, the goods are going to Philadelphia. Once there I need to call for delivery which won't be until about 20 July. That means I stay in the hotel or in my new home without furniture or anything else. This is the most preposterous thing I've ever experienced. I made a major mistake and am paying for it big time.

Do not use Zippy Shell.
Their quoted "total price" became an "estimate" after I signed the contract. Customer service is non-existent after the initial sales call. I believe it was a miracle that I actually received my belongings.
The most egregious wrongdoing is that the salesperson on the phone promised and ASSURED me that my quoted price was the total for my move, which was a barefaced lie.
I specifically said, and I quote: "$1628.00, that's the total price for the whole move, and there are no extra charges after that?"
To which the salesperson (Dio Molina) reassured me that this was indeed the "TOTAL" price of the move.
I wish I could obtain a recording of that call. But I know that Zippy Shell would never provide it.
I was wary of being ripped off, but not wary enough.
There are monthly rental/storage fees of $219.00 assessed, as well as a "transit subsidy" that was not mentioned before the contract was signed. That added another $193 past the agreed-upon price.
The container itself was adequate, but clearly had seen better days. It functioned as advertised. I must commend all of the drivers that move these units around, as everyone I dealt with was professional and timely. I believe I got lucky there, as others have had nightmare scenarios of their belongings being stolen or lost.
This whole experience will surely serve as another hard-learned lesson for me to carefully read any contract before signing.

This company totally misrepresent, mislead and swindle customers for additional moving cost that they intentionally created.
Firstly they advertise their containers as 16 x7x7. The containers are actually 15x6.5x6.5. This basically robs you of over 150 cubic feet. They also claim that they container can hold 2-3 Bedroom. This is a total LIE since our small NJ condo was a 2-beroom.
They roughly packed the items in 1 of their Shell in a large truck, leaving 1/2 the items behind. Then they forced you to purchase another container for the remaining items and a much higher price than the original. Your hands are completely tied at this point since its your planned moving day.
I called and order the second crappy unit, they charged my credit card immediately and promised to deliver same day. They never did! After calling the company about 8 times all I received were promises. When they realized that they made an error, they tried to cover by telling me that it takes 24 hours. My wife had to cancel her flight, we cancelled move-out cleaning. All these were additional costs.
Again, I called the company several times for compensation and given the same scripted response of no refund. After calling again and asked to speak with one of the top managers Josh, he offered me $75. This after total cost exceeding $6,000+
Please DO NOT put yourself through this ordeal!!! I did not do my homework and read the bad reviews about this company. I am planning to take my case to the next level, as they are a total scam and should be investigated.

The worst company.
Regrettably, my experience with this company has been far from satisfactory. Their representatives seem to inquire endlessly about the size of my house, measurements of furniture, and items in my garage, only to provide an estimate for a single container. Astonishingly, regardless of the actual size of my house, their estimates consistently suggest a single container as the solution. However, when the container finally arrives, it inevitably falls short in size, leaving me with no choice but to order an additional one. On the rare occasion that I manage to fit all my belongings into a single container, they promptly claim that it exceeds the weight limit, compelling me to purchase yet another container. It is disheartening to witness such deceptive tactics employed by this company, taking advantage of individuals in vulnerable situations. Furthermore, their customer representatives have proven to be the epitome of incompetence. I sincerely hope that this review reaches the company's attention, prompting them to reevaluate their marketing, sales, and customer service departments, and to rectify their erroneous calculations.

I originally had a drop off date of the 20th of may. I called to have my pick up rescheduled because of personal reasons. They completely ignored my request and pick up my unit with my knowledge then refused to drop it back off without charging me 125$ extra even though they messed up! Then told me the would move my anniversary date and never did! After that I received a phone call from pack rat saying they lost my entire unit after that I never received a phone call back and had to contact the facility my self to figure out if the had my belongings. I wouldn’t recommend this place to store my sons dirty diaper’s! The are money hungry and doesn’t care about their customers or mistakes Please take your money else where it’s not worth it!

Zippy was great.
Zippy was great from the beginning with the sales rep all the way through to both pick-up and drop-off movers. They tracked the container so I knew where it was and when it would show up. They said it would be at my place on a certain day and it was there. They said it would be at my new place on this day and it was there. They charged extra for gasoline, which is in the contract, but the rep. said she would even take that off the bill. Most time working with movers it's crazy and something goes wrong. With Zippy it was the opposite. Everything went well.

DO NOT USE - Never Received Unit
Went with Zippyshell due to cost for a long distance move, they were significantly (about 30%) cheaper than Pods. The sales rep I spoke to was incredibly respectful and helpful. The pick up process with smooth, they showed up to deliver the empty storage unit and picked up the packed storage unit without issue at our starting location. I was confident that after 2 months of storage that the delivery process would be just as smooth. I scheduled a delivery 2 weeks in advance. In fact I thought to myself I never write reviews and I was so impressed that I was going to write a review advocating the other reviews left were wrong and they had figured out the issues with customer service and logistics. I was unfortunately wrong. On the day the delivery was scheduled to our new home we hadn’t received a window of time for delivery and I was informed I would get a 1 hour notice before they showed up. I called again 3 hours later, and was told they had no update but had until 8pm to deliver the unit. I called again 2 hours later and was informed that they wouldn’t be able to make it today. They didn’t come, offered no explanation as to why and did not tell us until the last possible moment which took 3 phone calls initiated by myself. I waited all day reserving a spot for the unit on our street and scheduled vendors that had to be rescheduled. Our move was posted a week without notice, we had to incur additional living expenses and vendor reschedule fees we weren’t prepared to cover for an entire week. When asked what compensation would be provided they informed us, we would not be able to discuss this until after we received the unit. After a week on the scheduled delivery day we called customer service asking for an ETA, I waited 30 minutes on hold, no one answered. When I was able to get someone on the phone I was informed that according to their system they were on schedule but no one at the delivery center was answering. The same things we heard the previous weekend. Eventually after they missed the delivery window, again
I finally got a supervisor on the phone who quoted me the same information but this time she was going to call the manager at the storage facility. After endless back and forth it finally comes out that the forklift has been broken and they were not able to make the delivery AGAIN. They knew this and allowed me to schedule a move twice to not show up. I was then called by a “Senior Resolution Specialist” who informed me I wouldn’t be getting the refund I was requesting and they did not have information about when I would get my items. We filed a complaint with the BBB. Where was the breakdown in communication? Why wasn’t the facility able to get another forklift to offset all the cost of business they would lose for weeks of not having one operational? Why did it take me initiating this communication for the customer service facility to be aware of this issue? Why was I able to schedule a delivery if they knew? The customer service representatives sound burnt out, they read a script and repeat the same lines as if it de-escalates a situation entirely created by the company they work for with poorly managed logistics and operations. Honestly I don’t blame them, this must happen all the time. The number of times I was told the same thing is what escalated this experience for me. There was no transparency or urgency throughout my interactions with any representatives. I have no idea if and when I will get my things.

The absolute worst
The absolute worst. We booked them for a move. They missed FOUR delivery deadlines to drop off the container. No show and no call. We ended up having to book a mover and put our things into local storage just to vacate the property by which time we were a FULL WEEK past our lease end date. Horrible company. Do not use.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! TERRIBLE!!!
With Zippy Shell’s promise to price match any competitor and us feeling a time crunch over our impending move, we hired Zippy Shell because of the big promises they made and their awesome customer service during the quote process. That is where the competence ended. As soon as they got our money, they proceeded to miss several appointments for drop off of our belongings, paid a third party to cut off our locks -against our explicit instructions not to do so - and packed our items for delivery at their discretion, leaving off several things they said would not fit in the truck they rented to deliver our items, and indicating we’d need to pay to store our own rings for longer because they didn’t bring them to us in time. DO NOT USE ZIPPY SHELL IF YOU EVER WANT TO SEE YOUR THINGS AGAIN! This is an unethical and incompetent business that does not understand how to provide customer service or make something right after they’ve made a mistake.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST EXPERIENCE
I cannot say enough good about my experience with ZippyShell (Owned by PackRat) Every communication has been followed up by an email from them confirming what we talked about and verifying that it was going to happen. Even though most of the time they set three days for having the Pod to be packed, they had no trouble allowing me as many days as I needed. My first pod I had for 14 days. The second pod is sitting in my driveway right now and I have had to change the pickup date three times since I'm not ready to send it and they have had no trouble with that the 21 days to load that I need. Zippyshell allowed me to set up two different pods for the same price for each one even though one was at the end of 2022 and the other is now in March of 2023. I called today for a third pod and they will give me the same price on that one as well, no matter when I schedule it. The cost is well below the PODS company & PODS only allows 1 date change & each separate pod cost must be renegotiated. This is not the case with ZippyShell. If you need your pod delivered on an exact date, Z.S. can't verify that until the pod arrives to the distribution center in the area. For some that may be a problem. I have no problem with setting the delivery after it gets in the area. The customer service has been EXCEPTIONAL FROM START TO FINISH!!!!

Damaged goods and delivery was a month late
My delivery was scheduled for 9/29 and it was not delivered until 10/27. My items were removed from the cage that they were placed in when packing up my house and transferred to a moving truck for delivery to my new house. I was told that they would stay safe in their cage the entire time, yet that’s not what happened. When I received my belongings, there were mice feces in many of my storage containers and many boxes and their contents were wet and damaged. When I brought all of this to the attention of a manager, they did not care. I didn’t get compensated for anything that was damaged or compensated for my items being almost a month late.

Horrible experience with Zippy Shell/Pack Rat. Warning to anyone considering using either of these two companies. Zippy Shell ads draw you in with promises for a worry-free, low cost alternative to traditional van lines. My experience was anything but.
A Zippy Shell employee visited my home and personally inventoried my household goods and also recommended an independent company to crate miscellaneous fragile objects. This representative was very clear that all my goods, including items crated by their recommended contractor, would fit into two of their standard shipping containers. Not once did any company representative suggest that I would need a third container. As the bid was competitive, I entered into agreement with Zippy Shell, relying on their so-called expertise in estimating.
On moving day things started going south when the packers told me space was an issue, and that I had to shrink 6 wardrobe boxes down to 2. Then I watched as 3 very large garage cabinets were taken off the truck and put back into my garage. The final straw was that none of my patio furniture would fit in the provided containers, and I was informed that these items would not be a part of the transfer. It was too late to unpack, so I was left standing in the drive of my home, two days before closing, with several items slated to be left behind!
I had numerous conversations with Zippy Shell and Pack Rat representatives. Each and every one of them had the same position. It was my fault the items they inventoried exceeded their provided transport facilities. The offered solution was for me to pay an additional fee to cover transport of the items left behind. That's right - blame the customer! Zippy Shell's "solution" to make me spend even more money to make up for their inaccurate estimate was absolutely unacceptable. They absolutely refused to credit the contract for the value of abandoned items. This is how Zippy Shell treats a senior citizen customer.
So, beware of these companies. The low ball is often just that, the low ball.

This company is a scam
I researched online various pod companies and chose Zippy Shell because they beat out Pods and felt the pricing is reasonable. The person that sales you the contract is a snake, Richard Higgins. They do not explain to you the full pricing up front. You learn that the pricing that is quoted to you does not include insurance which is 3 separate charges, in transit to the facility, storage, and in transit to the final destination. Pricing did not also include transport fees. On top of this, the hired people they contract with damaged my items, told me it would take 90 days to resolve but took 4 months for them to deny my claim for liability. What the heck was the insurance for them because I was never provided with an insurance document. Do NOT is this company!

Any company that has a 70% one star rating will not remain in business. I highly advise you not to even consider using them.
I made the mistake of going to the Forbes site (where—amazingly— this company is rated three stars). If I had read these reviews first I never would have contacted Zippy Shell and that would have saved us going though a nightmare. Person after person has said the same thing: this is a horrible company.
It began smoothly. I received a good quote (from Dio, who is specifically mentioned in another review). But then things just didn't match up. I filled out their contract, but didn't sign it—and TWICE let Dio know that I had questions that needed answering before I went forward. At that point, Dio, who had been solicitous went radio silent. I got a call from the people who were to drop off the pod a week or so later, and told them I was cancelling.
Zippyshell then charged $4,000 on our credit card, which I immediately disputed with American Express. Then I saw another charge for one month storage (which was supposed to be part of the deal). This, I also disputed. None of my calls or emails to Zippy Shell were answered.
We used another company and completed our move. Then we received a billing from Zippy Shell for $149.00 that was still due (this was automatically stopped by American Express, which had frozen their account with us).
A few days ago, I received a phone call from a very nice woman asking about our "account"...and told her the story. She apologized and said we would be refunded.
Stay away from this company. I'm glad I kept careful records of what was said and promised.
