I'm a regular user of Rebel, I love the reshape workouts and the Reset which are quite unique. The team members are always super friendly. 1Rebel is clearly one of the best gym studios in London!

The trainers, the environment. I’ve always struggled to stay consistent with my exercise but I genuinely love turning up to classes… mostly for the feeling afterwards but the trainers always bring the energy and it’s infectious.

Great instructors, lovely clean and well equipped changing rooms, loads of locations, love the playlists, love the cold towels in the fridge. Not so convinced by the new app (has some bugs that could be improved)

I've had up and down experiences at 1Rebel. I was disappointed with my Reshape class with Zoe at Broadgate this morning. I noticed the bench/treadmill was divided very unevenly and I was in a much smaller group. She didn't pay a lot of attention to us. Whenever the larger group were either on the bench or treadmill she gave way more instruction and motivation. She often didn't say when we were supposed to start an excercise/sprint like we should just know from the lights changing/based on what she was saying to the other group. I missed lots of moments of when I was supposed to be doing something. There was also clear favouritism as she knew people in the larger group and therefore was a lot more present with them. I was really disappointed as I heard her giving great pointers to the other group about form etc. which she didn't give when it was our turn.

Mixed but good
The quality of some of the classes is exceptional. This is wholly based on quality of the trainer as expected. It does however mean where there is a poor trainer, the class is poor. I recently had an experience where the same playlist and programming was used by the same trainer two weeks running which is not really expected when you pay the amount of money we pay.
The shower facilities could be kept cleaner in my view to elevate the whole experience and some of the towels on occasion are frayed and stained which again is not expected for the money we pay.
The only other observation is that you obviously only get the classes for the money. For a little bit extra you can get membership to a luxury gym with classes and access to a gym.
Finally, the cancellation policy can be overly restrictive, particularly if youre unwell and front of house insist of medical evidence being provided. this is an unrealistic request and forces me to attend classes sometimes when i'm simply not fit enough because I want to avoid being charged. this is not good for my health.

Cancelled and didn’t get let in for being 2m late to my class which I have paid for in advance therefor should have access to still get to join in at whatever .
The staff at the till said “I can only check you in so it seems like you attended ,you won’t get charged a no show fee “

I’ve been going to 1rebel for many years, ever since the first location opened, but my recent experience has been extremely disappointing. I tried to reschedule my class to an earlier session on the same day, and instead of accommodating my request online, they canceled the session entirely without allowing me to rebook. For such an expensive gym classes, this should not be the case.
When I called one of the studios for assistance, the staff was incredibly rude and told me I should have called to reschedule. If they have a modern app, why does rescheduling still require human intervention? It feels like they’re just taking money from people without providing a fair service. Extremely disappointing!

Horrible experience, got rejected for being late 2 minutes. But not informed when check in at front desk. Rude Staff.
Purchased a year membership when policy was that you were allowed to roll credits. Now they’ve changed it so you can’t do that anymore but I’m locked in for a year. Inflexible and essentially just sold me a lie
I had a year long membership, classes were good but locations/times not convenient for me. Michelle was helpful in helping me to cancel my membership. Thank you!
Perfect workouts, good value for money - RESHAPE especially
Worst customer service and predatory subscription practices. The government needs look at other reviews and investigate this company for fraudulent business practices.
Unfortunately, I have had a very bad experience recently with 1Rebel and my complaint is not being taken seriously or being past to anyone relevant.
When sending my complaint by email, it’s been passed from receptionist receptionist and not being read properly.
1rebel recently changed their policy and have not asked their members to agree to these changes only enforced them. I’m not sure that this is even legal but I am going to raise this with the financial ombudsman to see if it is.
If you’re in an agreement with a company, they should ask you to agree to new terms and conditions which they have not done.
Aside from that all I’m asking for is for reimbursement of 5/6 sessions stolen from me from December that I was unable to use because of the holidays so booked into the first week of Jane (something that you’ve always been able to do, but they have changed their policy on this) and instead of that they are ignoring my emails and not taking my complaint seriously.
I’ve sent this complaint to the Broadgate Circle branch and set Mary’s Axe and nobody is resolving this issue for me.
I’ve asked repeatedly to be transferred to customer service department.
I’ve been a loyal member of 1Rebel for several years, and the treatment that I’m receiving does not line up with the price point of this gym.
Like many others, I've been impacted by the system changes and the lack of compassion that has come from the 1Rebel team during this time has been massively disappointing, leading me to leave this review.
They updated their system during December and have openly shared with me that the update didn't go as smooth as planned. You'd expect that they'd take ownership of the issues and be flexible with the new t&cs just for this first period of change, but instead it’s the members that are out of pocket and taking the rap for it.
I was charged double for my membership, and waited well over a week to get a refund (December being quite possibly the worst time for this to happen)
They also updated their T&Cs so that you cannot rollover leftover class credits into the first week of the next month. This is possibly fair enough with a good amount of warning and any other time of the year, but they notified members AFTER the change and introduced it in December, a month where they had a reduced timetable and full closures on certain days, leaving members with even less chance to actually use the credits, which we already pay a fortune for.
On top of this they've also changed my billing date, which shortens my membership cycle giving me even LESS chance to use my credits. I have 2 credits left to use, a 1 or 2 day leeway is all I'm asking for. I went to a class this morning and it was half full, so it would make no impact if I was using these credits in the next day or two whilst it's still technically the holiday period and not everyone is back at work yet. There's plenty of space in the classes, I'm not taking up a valuable spot!
Upon raising these issues in a polite manner, there's absolutely ZERO flexibility. I even asked if I could bring a friend to one of the classes with me just to try and use up the credits I've paid for (on the 27th December to a class that again wasn't even half full) and was also told nope and that the system doesn't allow that.
Seems absolutely absurd that the team are so unwilling to assist and rectify their errors that came from the terribly timed system update that went wrong. Not the service you expect from what is supposed to be a premium gym at all. I've been a paying customer for literally years and this is the worse experience I've had with them. So disappointing.
Terrible experience. Bought in 2022 what I thought was a 5 class pass. Turned out to be an annual membership. Only found out because they recently changed their IT system and started giving receipts. When I queried it was told best they could do was a refund of £69 and a cancellation of the membership I never wanted. I tried to explain I had cancelled the membership after I last attended in 2022 and that they could see I had not even attended a single class in the past 2 years. Apparently they can’t / won’t do do any more. I am out of pocket more than £500 and they are refusing to do anything. Zero interest in anything that resembles common sense and customer care. Not to mention they needed to be chased several times for an answer and no one answers the phone when you try to ring.
I am really sad having to write this as I was a loyal 1 rebel customer for many years, I paid them thousands of pounds as I stood by their workout and help the most expensive membership for most of my time working out here.
I moved out of London about 8 months ago. Therefore I deleted my regular membership. I have been buying classes ad hoc every now and again so that when I am in london I could workout once in a while. I bought the 3 class pass and 1 rebel decided to reinstate a monthly 3 class membership without telling me, proceeding to take £43 a month without my consent.(why would I take out a subscription when I don't even live in london?!) When I flagged it they said they would not be able to refund me the months but they have cancelled my membership and 'sorry for any inconvenience caused' no reason as to why they couldn't, no reason as to why they took it in the first place, just outright theft. Judging from people's reviews on here the company is basically a scam just taking people's money without their consent or say so because they have bank details? How many times does this have to happen before someone official can investigate this as surely it can't go on?. Steer clear, absolutely disgusting, they don't care about you as a client! They just want your money.
1Rebel recently updated their T&Cs so that you cannot rollover leftover class credits into the first week of the next month. They did this with no warning and introduced it during December, a month where many people will not be able to use all of their credits due to Christmas travel and gym closures. If I had known about the change to T&Cs before my membership renewed I would have cancelled!
As the other reviews say, the penalties for cancelling sessions are quite harsh compared to other workout classes.
