Thank you, Jack,
Thank you for today’s session—it was both fun and a great workout! The music was perfectly chosen for each part of the training, and I really appreciated how you lowered the volume when speaking. It made everything much clearer, and you didn’t have to shout over it. You also have a fantastic sense of humor!
Looking forward to the next session, Oxford Circus locations
Excellent classes, love how on time it always is.
There’s no classes from the late afternoon on 20/12, 21/12, 22/12, 27/12, 28/12, 29/12, 30/12, 2/1,3/1 and No classes on 23/12, 24/12, 25/12, 26/12, 31/12, 1/1.
My membership expires on 9/1 and I would appreciate if they could extend a few days for me so I could attend some classes. They came back to me it’s their T&C so they can’t extend for me unless I paid.
I don’t think your T&C states that you are half close in Christmas NY period but the answer is that my friends and I won’t join 1 rebel again after being on it for few years. It used to be better
I cancelled more than 24 hours in advance but due to THEIR website changes, I will lose my money and am not allowed to rebook. I believe this situation is not only disappointing but also unfair, as the website changes are on their end and out of my control.
This would have been my second session under the new starter intro package, and given the cost of these classes, I find the resolution offered unacceptable.
Theft.
Very disappointing experience. I came for my first class on time, travelled from a different part of town. I was there a few minutes earlier, waiting at the reception. The reception refused to let me in because they needed to do a 5min induction and there was not enough time before the start of the class. They also refused to refund the £16 fee. I can see other people here had the same experience. Be careful, read the small print!
Love all the classes here - so many studios to choose from and the classes are super challenging and fun - they often have events which has a great vibe. I’ve been a member for a few years now and it keeps getting better!!
I arrived on time for my first ever class at rebel 1 which I had booked a taster session. Despite the fact that the class hadn’t yet begun I was told that I should have arrived 5 minutes early for an induction and I couldn’t take part in the class.
I explained that I didn’t know this and have a small baby at home so have specially arrange childcare etc. I asked if maybe one of the team members on the reception desk could run me through the induction quickly so I could still join the class. The manager was quite sassy when he told me no and that ‘next time you should read your confirmation email’.
Considering I was turned away by the reception team on my first ever day I wasn’t really interested in coming back. So I asked for a refund and was refused my right to have my money back. Not even sure if that’s legal but it explains why there are so many negative reviews here.
My warning to new clients is don’t lock yourself into a package as you will not be able to refund if you’re treated poorly by the staff which seems likely since they treated me this way on my first experience at the gym and many of these others reviews have similar experience.
The owner and investors of the business might consider reading some of these reviews (there are so many and so similar). You may make more money by listening to your clients experience than telling them to read your terms and conditions. I suggest listening to your customer and making change. A less than 3 star rating is quite frankly embarrassing. Whilst it is normal to have a few unhappy customers the sheer number of them shows you are doing something wrong.
No point spending thousands on marketing if you’re losing customers at door and can’t retain them.
Really enjoy my class at Broadgate - but there needs to be flexibility on morning classes. When trying to get the first train for the 6:15am class, sometimes there are delays. If there is 5 min delay, surely we can be let in class.
Also, be good to invest in a good iron! Considering how much the classes have gone up by, would be great to have an iron that works and a board that is long enough to iron some clothes
I once wrote a rave review as my experience was so amazing - but have to revise.
Simply: only go to Bayswater. There the team is fun, flexible and helpful. They understand that life happens as long as you don’t take the mick, and I’ve ended up committing long term on this basis. Trying out others like SJW is a different experience. It’s a very ‘computer says no’ attitude and I now see the complaints. If I’d started anywhere but BW I wouldn’t have continued. TLDR: give Bayswater pay rises, review the rest
Was really struggling to find motivation prior to finding 1Rebel - Trainers are brilliant and the classes change week to week which really keep you engaged. Would highly recommend to all levels of people on their fitness journeys.
Avoid this gym at all costs! I paid for the session, and they still wouldn't let me in because I was less than a minute late. The staff is rude and completely unhelpful. Worst experience I've ever had at a gym. Don’t waste your time or money here!

I've been a member of 1Rebel for almost a year and I absolutely love coming here. Its my 2nd home lol.. I work in Mayfair so my two main gyms are oxford circus and Victoria.
Most of the reviews on here are down to not letting you in late. 1R states very clearly when booking that you need to be there at least 5/10 mins before, the doors close AT the actual class time! To stop distraction, which actually is annoying and I really appreciate this.
They are also understanding in certain circumstances and rules are rules.
Staff at any branch I've been too, I've been to a few have been so lovely and helpful.
The trainers are amazing and so good at what they do, my body has changed massively and have had so many compliments! Highly recommend - just be early to class, don't rush and enjoy :-)

My class was at 6.15am I turned up at 6.15am on the dot and the reception team would not let me in the class saying the doors were locked! I travelled an hour to get there this is absolutely ridiculous and a waste of my money and time I even asked please just let me in. I then stayed at the gym for a while and then noticed they let a bunch of girls in late for the next class that started at 7.15am they were all 5 minutes late !!!

I love the South Bank site and their spin classes are the best. Ladies’ showers are a bit dark and sometimes the showers don’t work properly but other than that can’t fault them.

I echo what others describe: had been a loyal (paying) member for a solid period and they look for ways to charge you extra/without your approval on a consistent basis and absolutely do not back down, even when they have made a mistake (no refunds).
Gyms are OK at best, customer service is bottom of the barrel. Given the price I’ve traded up for materially better service and facilities.
Botched & broken system.
I arrived 12:14 for a 12:15 appointment. While paying for socks inside the gym it got to 12:16 and these people wouldn’t let me in. Claiming the door is locked which isn’t! While in the gym people go for bathroom breaks and I have been In there. Wasting peoples time and money is not the way to go. Clearly they are used to handling matters in Barbaric ways. So disappointed. I just signed up with a better gym in Knightsbridge and I was sure to ask about their policy on one minute late coming. Understandably they responded that such policy should be considered assured!!!
Do NOT use 1Rebel. I left my credit with them. Horrible experience. I’m glad this happened in my trial period!
Terrible T&Cs, terribly inflexible and unclear membership/pass terms made me lose £100s. The order receipt and online account/“my packages” page do not state you’ll be charged multiple times. HORRIBLE, RUDE customer service at front desk & with GM.
The only reason they get one star is because the trainers are excellent! I can’t fault the classes however the management are awful, they care more about taking your money than providing you a service!
I’m surprised they are able to run with the attitude of their staff and management. They have completely ruined our experience and for that we will never go again nor will I recommend them. It’s such a shame as we enjoyed the classes.
I was really swayed by reviews, so here is my experience.
I’m a class person, and this was near, so I thought I should try it.
First: aside from a brief mid-afternoon dead zone, there is pretty much a class kicking off every hour or half hour. If you have a weird or changeable schedule, it’s great.
The classes are largely a mix of Barry’s-lite, reformer (which sits somewhere between reformer and megaformer), and spin in the places I frequent.
You do get a nice mix of attendees, it’s not all threateningly svelte.
The classes themselves are an 8-8.5 on the scale of the best in class in each of the areas (eg v soul cycle, Barry’s). You will not get the best best version of your fav class, but you’ll get a really really great version of a variety. When I spotted my shoulders were growing a little fast from reshape, I could just pivot to reformer. As a really frequent class goer, class pass offers the same but is just not cost effective.
In terms of luxury, it’s more ‘good job in PR’ than trust fund. What I REALLY value and is 5 star though, is they’ve bothered with the details. They don’t nickel and dime for towels, you don’t have to remember your water as you are given a reusable bottle (which they will clean for you) to fill with filtered tap water. I really resent clubs which charge a 3-figure membership and pull out the credit card machine when you want to get a shower or a drink. Here you’ll have a soft towel, plus a scented cooled one after class.
The teams are friendly and clearly get along with each other and the trainers have wonderful energy. You book your slot in the room so you are not scrabbling for a good spot on the day.
A dealbreaker for me were the reviews stating meanness around missed classes. Thankfully that hasn’t been my experience. When TFL has let me down, they’ve waived fees and given back credits. With a busy London life this matters.
Re: wait lists - people suck, and late cancel fees give little impetus for folks to bother pinging on a last minute change. But showing up right before a class can often bag you a slot.
Basically if, like me, you like to just show up and do what you’re told, want a bunch of options and don’t want to spend a million pounds on class pass to make varied classes a viable daily option and have broader ‘I just want to work out for fun/blast a bunch of calories’ goals, you can do a helluva lot worse.
If they had a zen option as well it would be nigh-on perfect full coverage. Recommend.
Ps
when I’m tired, injured or cba I just hit a speed rate lower than the recommended. The world doesn’t end.

I enjoy the workouts and heave been using 1Rebel for a number of years, but the terms are so unhelpful and inflexible. Had to cancel a class today as I have a migraine and had fainted at work but there was no way of avoiding losing the session pass. So that’s £25 wasted where it would have been unsafe for me to attend. Seems really unreasonable for such an expensive brand when you compare it to competitors.
