I wouldn't normally write a review but I don't want others to experience what I have.

My experience with this firm was extremely disappointing due to the consistently poor level of communication and customer service.

Throughout my matter, I had to chase constantly for updates. Emails regularly went unanswered, and I was repeatedly told, “I’ll get back to you tomorrow,” only for no response to follow. Even after calling to request updates, promised callbacks simply never happened.

The most frustrating experience was when my buyer pulled out and the sale and onward purchase fell through. This was understandably a very stressful time, yet despite calling the office multiple times and being repeatedly promised a callback, no one contacted me. I also emailed to raise my concerns and received no acknowledgement or response. Being left completely in the dark during such a significant moment was unacceptable. I then received an email setting out my remaining balance with no acknowledgement of what had happened. My estate agent also said how poor the communication and delays were.

What disappointed me most was that this wasn’t limited to one individual. When I attempted to escalate my concerns to senior management, I experienced exactly the same lack of communication. The repeated broken promises, unanswered emails, and constant need to chase for information left me with no confidence in the firm.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This company is absolutely shocking. They were instructed under a recommendation which was obviously false.
10 weeks of constant pressure with 0 communication to us, or solicitors either side of our purchase/sale to finally received draft contract packs - something that should take 3 weeks max.
At week 12 the whole chain informed us 3 week notice of wanting to exchange with a threat of collapse. Ackroyd then demanded us to pay a fast track fee to meet this deadline after a formal complaint and ‘higher management involved’ despite it being their own fault for the delay. Our whole chain had been ready and waiting for multiple weeks waiting on these cowboys to do their job but constant pressure and 0 communication continuing for all parties involved. They then pulled out and disinstructed themselves as our acting legal 2 days before proposed exchange date.
As a reference our new solicitor has done more in less than a week than this so called business have done in over 3 months.

Only instruct these if you love stress, no communication and a risk of a chain collapse. They should not be in business and calling themselves lawyers. Absolutely appalling.

I used Ackroyd Legal for a property sale that ultimately fell through, and the experience was extremely disappointing. Communication was slow, requests were repeatedly delayed, and the lack of urgency contributed to the collapse of the transaction.

Six months later, I was contacted out of the blue demanding additional payment for “work carried out,” despite no prior explanation or breakdown. After I confirmed I would pay over the weekend, I was chased multiple times within 24 hours and pressured to pay that same day, which felt unprofessional and unnecessarily aggressive.

I’ve now requested my full file because the way this has been handled raises serious concerns about their processes and client care. Based on my experience, I would not recommend their conveyancing services.

Avoid this company at all costs. They are unprofessional and do not act in the best interests of their clients. They also try and squeeze any little bit of money out of you that they can.

AVOID!!!!!!! I would give this company zero stars if i could. Genuinley the worst i've ever dealt with. Communication is absolutely awful, noone ever responds to your emails. I used Ackroyd Legal for a transfer of equity, and what should take 4-6 weeks to complete is now on it's 16th week. I have never even spoken to my solicitor directly (I was starting to wonder whether they even actually existed!), and everytime I try and get in touch for an update on my case they never respond. I am constantly chasing on the phone to get the case moving. They email you and say they are waiting for you to submit documents (from a noreply email address so you can't even reply to them), and don't provide any context on what the letters are or what you need to do. They are an absolute nightmare. My other party's solicitor advised them that Ackroyd Legal was the worst solicitor they have ever had the displeasure of dealing with! Extremely rude on the phone when contact was finally made. Please save yourself the time and hassle and do not use this company.

My mother passed away in January 2024 and had a very simple estate below the inheritance tax threshold with me as the only beneficiary. The experience my cousin (executor) and I have had with this firm has been beyond terrible and really stressful. We chose this firm as my mother my mother had made her will with David Ebert a few years earlier and they had since been taken over by Ackroyd Legal at their Southampton office. It took A YEAR to obtain probate as the solicitor had to be chased up constantly and the original application had to be returned as it wasn’t acceptable to the probate office. One would think that he would know what he was doing and get it right first time. He then insisted on waiting at least ten months before distributing the estate. This is common practice, but not necessary as it was getting onto a year since publication in the Gazette.
The ten months expired and the solicitor concerned announced he was leaving the firm. The file was eventually assigned to another solicitor who was working minimal hours as she was on maternity leave. There was still very little progress, and nobody seemed to know the whereabouts of my mother’s jewellery (valued at £3500!) that they had taken custody to have it valued for probate. Despite numerous emails asking them to locate it, absolutely no effort was made to find it. After some detective work by my cousin, the jewellery was eventually located in storage at the valuers, who are an auction company in Portsmouth. They informed her that there would be insurance and storage charges, but Ackroyd had not informed us about this. As they hadn’t informed us, Ackroyd are apparently liable for those charges.
By now we had reached March 2026 over two years since my Mum’s death. The legal bill was now a staggering £26000, over twice what it should have been. After querying this, they offered just a £6000 discount. We counter-offered a £10000 reduction. Since then we have heard nothing from Ackroyd. The solicitor dealing had returned the file to the Ackroyd operations manager saying it was “out of her hands”, with no explanation why.
Since then, they have not responded to numerous emails sent to various people in the Company, including Markus Malik who is supposed to be co-executor together with my Cousin. Mr. Malik has done nothing to assist. We have no idea who has the file and who is dealing with it.
We had employed a different firm to deal with the sale of my Mum’s house as we didn’t trust Ackroyd to deal with it. The sale went through smoothly and the proceeds of the sale were sent to Ackroyd last September 2025. I was sent half of the proceeds and a small advance from the estate.
Ackroyd are hanging onto about £130000 that is legally mine, yet they are refusing to communicate with us and distribute this to me. The Ombudsman are supposed to be investigating, but it could be several months before we hear from them.
This is disgraceful behaviour from Ackroyd and no explanation has been given, while I am suffering from extreme distress and worry.
If anybody from Ackroyd reads this, I suggest you resolve this matter before I take legal action to retrieve my inheritance!

Asked for information to help us with probate due to errors in the Will at the time of writing - missing clauses/inaccurate clause numbers. 2 months on and still they have not provided us with any information or replied to emails.

We had a great experience with Mohammed Munshi as our conveyancer. He was always easy to get in touch with, responded quickly to any questions we had, and kept us informed throughout the entire process. He put our minds at ease by explaining everything clearly and making even complex information easy to understand. His responsiveness made what can be a stressful process feel much more manageable. We was recommended this firm through my mortgage advisor the service is terrible communication is very poor they charged me £500 and £250 to start the process as was selling and buying as you aware the chain some times on a house purchase breaks then we decided we are not selling I then emailed Muaz and said will not be going ahead and we are just buying our house and staircase up to 100% he didn’t even say once as you paid all these fees already I can complete the sale just so you can buy your current house instead refund me £150 out of £750 then I told my mortgage advisor I don’t want to use them today and I had another quote from them today to do the same work I could not believe it I said I’m not happy to use this firm, so we are now looking for a firm who want to help and not just take money and does not reply to your calls or email I even called in on reception so many times promised to get a call back never did,
I sent so many emails asking how much will be refunded to me and when I got my money returned only £150 what a joke, customer service is a very important part and I’m in customer service but I would never treat my customers like this I would recommend do not use, I even had to get the manager involved and she didn’t seem to bothered as well her name was Ayesha just shows you how they do business,

I have never encountered such a chaotic and frustrating onboarding process from a conveyancing firm.

Within days of instructing Genevieve Snow at Ackroyd Legal, I discovered multiple contradictions in their own paperwork. The engagement letter stated a £35 payment on account in one section and a £150 payment on account in another, leaving me to chase them to find out which figure was actually correct. The portal instructions were equally confusing, and the login credentials provided failed to work as instructed.

What made matters worse was the complete lack of ownership when these issues were raised. Despite providing screenshots showing that I had followed the instructions and that the portal credentials did not work, I was repeatedly told to use the very same credentials and processes I had already tried. It felt as though nobody was actually reading my emails before responding.

The communication was astonishingly poor. I was told to contact the phone team, only for the phone team to tell me to wait for an email response. When I eventually spoke to my case handler, I was met not with an apology or an attempt to resolve the problems, but with blame-shifting and defensiveness. Rather than acknowledging the errors and inconsistencies that were causing the issues, the impression given was that everything was somehow my fault.

The most worrying aspect is that these problems occurred before the legal work had even properly started. If a firm cannot provide accurate paperwork, consistent instructions, or basic customer service during the onboarding stage, it does not inspire confidence in its ability to manage a property transaction involving hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise prospective clients to look elsewhere. There are too many conveyancing firms available to accept this level of incompetence, contradictory information, and poor client care.

Really poor service. Amaan Ahmed and his supervisor Aisha never answer the phone nor reply to emails. I am not sure what they actually do at work. Avoid.

Today we successfully completed our re-mortgage and the whole legal process was handled professionally by Mohammed Munshi, his replies were prompt and always provided clarity to all our questions. Highly recommended
