Punished for Renewing
My renewal quote was significantly higher than the previous year. I entered all the details for a fresh policy and it was over 100 euro cheaper than the quote for renewal. Exactly same details and policy. The representative could not give me an explanation as to why my renewal was so high. It's hard to avoid the conclusion they are hoping people do not check their renewal and looking to fleece them that way.
Edit:
Having spoken with the complaints department after this review, I was told they were satisfied with the renewal quote being higher than a new policy for me and no review was warranted. I was told to go to the Ombudsman if I disagreed. Frankly, I find this whole situation utterly ridiculous and unbelievably unprofessional.

The An Post staff are friendly. They actually answer the phone. They give you a decent quote and are very professional. I was very impressed. This unfortunately is rare now.
